Getting all the protein
mom2lucky (suznc) replied to wonderwoman75's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yoplait Greek 100 is 10-13 gms depending on the flavor; Dannon Greek light 'n fit is 12 grams; Chobani is good in Protein but the sugar is too high for me. Most are 16-18 gms of sugar except for the plain (blue container). Yoplait and Dannon are less than 9 gms sugar. Almonds and peanuts are good protein for an ounce but the calories are high. The almonds are healthier than the peanuts; the fat is a good fat. I use almonds a few days a week for an afternoon snack. They tide me over until supper. -
Posture Issues?
mom2lucky (suznc) replied to sunshine413's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My azz bones hurt and I'm trying to add more glute exercises to build up the padding again. I can now wiggle on and off the glute muscle - such a weird feeling. lol I also have posture issues and I guess because my center of gravity has changed. I try to remind myself to sit tall and keep my chest forward, shoulders back and chin high when I walk. It's like I'm having to retrain myself. -
I'm almost 5 months out and things do get better. I can drink way more at a time than I could at your stage in this process. I will never drink with meals or at least 30 minutes after a meal though because I strongly believe this is a reason why people start to gain back weight. The liquid pushes food through the pouch and you get hungry again. I work with 2 other postops >4 years out and both drink with meals, graze all day, drink soda (diet and regular) and eat high carb foods and wonder why they put back on >50 lbs or never got to their goal. I just gave them my bigger clothes. You will adjust and be able to eat a better variety of food, just smaller amounts. You still have to be careful with the type of food you eat. I struggle with choices most days but use My Fitness Pal to help track my choices and to see where I could have improved my day. Back in December, I never imagined how good I would feel today so it does get better. Hang in there - you will be able to drink more water in the near future.

Any NC peeps?

I grew up in Hickory right down the street from Frye. Is that where you had your surgery? -

I drink Chike Very Vanilla every day & love it. Did not like Unjury but a lot of people do. My doc said he tried the Isopure that his nutr tries to push on people & said it was nasty & that he didn't have the heart to encourage people to drink it. Lol Nashua Nutrition is an online store that sells samples of a lot of proteins including Syntrax. I think they are $1.95 each. -
What ya eating tonight?

I had it the week I was allowed on full liquids. It didn't bother me but now it's still in the freezer 4 months later & I'm not interested in it anymore (nor jello or sf Popsicles) -

I have Cigna. My employer had an incentive that if I had my surgery where I work (a hospital), that my co pay was waived. That helped me out a lot. I had met my deductible & apparently exceeded the out of pocket limit so some of my dr bills were covered at 100%. I had my first consult in August & surgery in November so only had to do 3 months of nutr visits. MD visit went well today & I can't to find out my lab results. -

I'm in Charlotte, surgery was in Rock Hill SC on 11/27/12. I've lost 76 lbs & go for my bloodwork tomorrow. Kind of anxious to see if I have any vitamin deficiencies. Best advice I can give is to plan your food & always have a backup plan & something good in protein in your purse or backpack. I use My Fitness Pal to track protein, etc. I miss a good hot dog but it's worth how I feel now to give them up (the pouch hates them). Glad to see so many Carolina gals on here. -

They get more upset if you question the not too healthy choices than if you make them ...unbelievable -

You crack me up! That thread makes me shake my head at times. We all lose no matter we eat for the first few months after surgery. It's the rest of your life where it really makes a difference in results. I use MFP to make sure I get my Protein & keeping my diary open helps me be accountable. It also helps me see where I can improve my carb & fat choices -
It's been a wonky March for sure. I hope the strawberries & peaches aren't damaged by all this cold weather. Looking forward to using them in my protein smoothies. I love fresh Carolina produce!

Netrition & Nashua Nutrition are sites I"ve ordered items from. I was pleased with the service from both sites.

Nashua Nutrition sells samples of lots of different proteins for $1.95 each. Great way to find the one you like & not buy a tub. -

Just spit my drink everywhere! Thankfully it was water. I never thought I'd consider getting boobs but the gals may need some renovation when I finish losing. I want to go to a store like Soma to get a pro to help figure out bra size but I don't want fork out big bucks for a bra I may wear for only a month or two. -

Easter candy
mom2lucky (suznc) replied to MalyssaSue's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
There are new colors this year too! One look at the sugar content makes me quickly put them down. Even the " sugar free" is full of sugar alcohol. Orange jelly Beans are what I'm missing the most at Easter. Loved those so much but can live without them. -
Eye candy is an added bonus of going to the gym!

Detox - oh how the mighty have fallen
mom2lucky (suznc) replied to Lebim's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thank you for being honest & real. You've got a plan, stick with it & you can get back on track. It must be tough to work around those temptations. You've come too far toward your goals to sabotage yourself now. -
Walmart Whey Protein Shots
mom2lucky (suznc) replied to TxDumplin's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
GNC & Vitamin Shoppe sell them too. Some people like them. I wanted to but the coating it left on my tongue was not something I could tolerate very well. Grape was ok. 40 gms of protein per 20 oz bottle is great if you can drink it. Stay away from the shots. They're not the right kind of protein for WLS folks. -
