FMLA question...
douchewafflebear replied to RoxyFoxy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I worked or one company where someone (a personal friend) whose Dad was ill - could take it in 5 minute increments - I know that sounds crazy - but some mornings she was delayed getting him to the senior center and that 5 minute (10, 20 etc) saved her hide. Employees and Employers alike do not understand FMLA and many many many managers think it’s their right to tell you when you come back - ONLY the Dr tells you when your released to work - and if your doctor says you need another week or 2 or 4 (not to exceed 12) you are not going to loose your job - you can go after the company if your manager takes action against you. Good luck - your HR person should be your advocate - I hope he or she helps you navigate this tricky time. -
FMLA question...
douchewafflebear replied to RoxyFoxy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Does your company and position qualify for fmla? Only eligible employees are entitled to take FMLA leave. An eligible employee is one who: • Works for a covered employer; • Has worked for the employer for at least 12 months; • Has at least 1,250 hours of service for the employer during the 12 month period immediately preceding the leave*; and • Works at a location where the employer has at least 50 employees within 75 miles. if so - FMLA is 12 weeks of leave - the company CAN ONLY decide if its hourly or daily - otherwise, once approved for FMLA - meaning that you submitted the paperwork and HR approved it - your GOOD TO GO For what it’s worth - this is what I did for 15 yrs - I AM an expert in everything HR and FMLA -

Your life is going to change is so many ways - and if its meant to happen it will - don't over analyze yet -
So went to the pulmonolgist - he sucks ass If you most likely have sleep apnea because your overweight - why make me do 2 appointments with those dr’s before sending me in for the dreaded sleep test. it defies logic - the dr isn’t a bariatric dr lectured me about sleep apnea (sure - that’s his expertise) and he couldn’t possibly understand the journey that got me here - nor could he understand how having just ONE MORE COMORBIDITY doesn’t help me - doesn’t make me feel better - it protects him - the surgeon - and the anesthesiologist in the surgery - I’m having a pity party. THIS sleep apnea business is going to delay me - on something I was ready to do 9 months ago - now I have to wait - more time - and wait for someone to give me permission - I HATE BEING AT SOMONE ELSES MERCY sorry - thanks for listening - don’t know if anyone else finds it ridiculous schedule me for the sleep apnea test - no problem - but making me see someone for a pre-test - then see the dr so he can schedule me for the test - well that’s just a waste of everyones time and resources. my dad had a bipass at 49 - i remember it well - he didn’t have a sleep study - I had my knee reconstructed 20 yrs ago - i didn’t have a sleep study - the millions of people that have emergency surgeries daily - they don’t have sleep studies - let’s call a spade a spade- the sleep study is to protect the drs asses - not mine - they would use the same protocol regardless of my comorbities if I had a rush surgery - just makes me angry -- all to cover someones ass ok. i’m not a pretty daisy today.

Been on a food funeral since I started the process - KNOW WHAT - nothing tastes as worry free or good knowing what I’m about to embark on - The idea of giving up wings and pizza forever sounds pretty damn good - because those got me here - and I sure as heck don’t want to go back EVER -

AMEN! It’s like seeing crap habits desensitizes us and makes us think well that might be ok - I’m pre-op and I look here to load my freezer with the RIGHT stuff... Thank you for so eloquently saying what so many of us are obviously thinking. -
irish girl here - there is a difference btw the point, round and the flat - the flat is leaner - the round is leanest - and the point is the most flavorful but it’s the fattiest - you gotta cut that stuff like a surgeon after it’s cooked The best way we cook it is in the oven - LONG AND SUPER SLOW - and we save the drippings and cook the cabbage in that - which is the irish version of greens (if you know anything about cooking greens) Sláinte
