6 Months Out And Still Have Tummy Upset
crc0710 replied to PoppyAnn's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Girl I swear we are in the same church chour I have been in the hosiptal twice in the past two week. They finial found that I have two stamples going into my pouch which was causing pain were every time I ate or drank it felt like knife in my chest and stomach. They also found that my small intestines are enlarged. They are hoping that will go down but if not or if the pain does not go away I might have to have a feeding tube put in. I am hoping not. I just want to be better and get a life outside of the house without taking a bag or pills -
Ok I am just sharing this everywhere I can. My starting weight was 425. My surgery weight was 349 and on Friday my weight was 325. I ever thought I would loose 100 pounds. I can't believe I did it. I just want to scream it from the roof top.

If you want a clear diet soda or at least the taste of it, I have found that mixing it with Jello (instead of the cold water) works well. The secret is to mix the hot water (directions on the box) and before adding the diet clear soda, let it stand for one minute. Then follow the directions (no cold water) This way you get the taste but not the carbination.

I am glad to see so many people close to me. Sometimes you feel like it you alone. I feel that way sometimes because I go to san antonio for my doctor.

Horror Stories On Youtube
crc0710 replied to jodimc's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The only video I watch was the one by my doctor on you tube and also his website where they showed what happens with the different surgeries. I think if I watched any other I would have need a klonpin and or an mental check because one thing I can do very good is make a mountain out of a mole hill. I can send you the website if you want to see a video from a doctor and I promise it is not a horror story at all. -
I will cross my finger for you too. Good luck and I look forward to hear about your changes

For the first visit each of them are going to ask you some of the same question and don't worry they just want to help you the best they can. They are going to ask you why are you doing this. What do you want out of this beside being skinny . The dietien was fun I went in thinking she is going to tell me I can't eat this and I have to eat ham (which is gross to me before and after surgery) However she did go over what I normally eat and my eatting habits and then help me think of some changes for the not so good things for me. She gave me my guildlines for the pre deit and her email. If you have question write them down because I walk into the office and always forget what they are.

It will get better. The doctor think I might have scratched my thorat with some food so they have me back on mostly liquid. Maybe it your body saying it like liquid better right now. Prayers and hugs.

Friday Weigh-In!
crc0710 replied to KevinsBabyGirl85's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Pro weight 425 Surgery weight 349 11/9 weight 325 Goal weight 164 Yes first 100 pounds. Never in my life did I lose a 100 pounds nor did I ever think I would YEAH. -
I had those same thought so the first thing is it ok to ask those question and it ok to worry a little. For me going from liquid to soft protien scared me. My sweet bestie said take one bite of the soft protein food and see how is handle make sure you chew, chew and chew. The moment it does not taste right and or hurts stop eating and either move on to something else or just stop. The wonderful thing about this now is you get to re taste foods...some you may like and other might be gross. Don't panic it normal to change taste buds. Just do what your body tells you to do. For me I never have been able to and still can't tell when I am full so I am messuring before I eat. I am eating about 1/2 a cup of food at a time and I am eat 3 small meals a day with one snack. Good luck and I am here if you need to talk or share your worries with.

I am in Texas. I am in kingsland which is right outside of austin.

I am still on soft protein...like eggs beans and anything you can mash with a fork. Potato are the only thing that fit that requirement but I should not have that. I did try bread but my stomach did not like it. I also have to be careful with dairy.

That was a great list. Since I have had a couple of surgerys and some hosiptal stay. The number one thing for me is I have to have noise when I am walking or moving around so I did take my ipod and the charger for everything electric you take. I learned that lession the hard way. Also bring something that confort you. We I am put into a new area it sometime freak me out a little...so if I had my favorite pillow or teddy it was nice and calming. Make sure that you also take your meds even over the counter one with you. I also had a list of them and on the list was the name, dosage, how often I took it and when I normally took it. For example: Lisinopril 15mg 1 1/2 tablets by mouth daily at night Levothyroxine 0.05mg 1 tablet by mouth daily in the morning an hour before breakfast And so forth. Hope that helps. Thanks Cheryl

The start of my journey began about two years ago. I started having bad stomach issue where they pain was getting bad. At frist the doctor thought it was my meds. Then they thought it was milk and other foods. Then moved on to stress and work related. I know none of them will admit it but I believe some even thought I was making it up. Very time I ate no matter what I ate I was in pain. I went in for a test where they have the machine watch me eat an egg sandwich. My egg sandwich did not move at all from my stomach. After four hours the guy giving the test sent me home and send it is not going any where. So then I was told that I have Gastroparesis really bad. They sent me to doctor Duperier in San Antonio hoping he would do the gastrectomy (which is just like the by-pass surgery). He gave me two choices which were I could have a machine put into my stomach every time I eat I get to push a button that would send an electric shock to my stomach or I could do the gastrectomy. Well at that first appointment he could not get over that I had a BMI of 65 and that I was under 35 years old. He told me that I need to loose weight and get off my pain meds. I had to say that eatting was never a problem for me. Once the pain hit take a pain pill eat as much and whatever I wanted then go to bed. Made life boring however I could do something good. Doctor Duperier said that a lot of people who have gastroparesis were unable to eat. I felt really bad for those people because that means they did not have has good of pain pills has I did. So I got with Jodi (Doctor Duperier's Dietitain) and went over my diet and portion control. I also had to stop the pain meds which was harder than the diet and portion control but in the long run help with it because when I was in so much pain I could not eat. I lose right around 40 pounds before surgery and drop my BMI to 55. I did have surgery on October 15, 2012. So far so good. just welcoming soft protien food into my diet now. The only problem I have is I need to burp and can't. I am walking every day. I am almost will to try again to have a good burp. I think that if I could make the walls shake I would cry out in pure joy. So I joy RNY to meet different people and get idea for issues as they come up. I would love to get any ideas on how to burp and/or anyone else who did the surgery for gastroparesis. Thanks, Cheryl
