  1. Doing good...I think ;)

  2. Just wondered what types of exercising everyone is doing? I have started some low key zumba, walking, and country line-dancing. 20 lbs down since pre-op as of today!
  3. I finally am taking my vitamins!

  4. I can eat A LOT of different foods, but I just did my first grocery shopping. People it was HARD! I found a lot of great things, but I was like "HECK NO!" when it came to the yogurt. I was not willing to do that many carbs for that little protein. It felt Weird. BUT....I have been food journaling since I got home and that has really helped me to stay on track nutrition wise. I have been able to "eat out" as long as it is soup or chili. With Christmas coming up I am going to try the new "No Sugar Added" Hot chocolate. PS Sugar Free Whip cream is my friend and my pouch likes it too! I now have no desire for chocolate or most baked goods either since surgery. Great places for recipes are "The world according to Egg Face" or Hungry Girl. Eating healthy doesn't mean you can't like it!
  5. So I found out today I am having symptoms of TMJ associated with having my Jaws propped open during the surgery (ventilation tubes & endoscopy) and that is why I am so adverse to chewing my pills. I had a HORRIBLE headache last night in my left temple and went to my regular Dr thinking I must have a ear infection or a sinus infection, but no. My mom has TMJ so I have always been very cautious with things like chewing gum. Good news is that I may be fine once my jaw is less "traumatized".

    Failure

If you are doing the right things and your Dr is not worried then you are probably just in a plateau. Sometimes we just need to sit back and enjoy the lbs we have lost i guess Best of luck! I know I will be in your shoes at some point because it is just a part of this journey. Stalling is NOT failing
  7. Thanks for the advice on vitamins. I appreciate it. Crystal Lite Lemonade is really helping me get more fluids faster for those that are having a problem. If you don't like lemonade it might be worth it to try a different flavor like ice tea, berry splash (I didn't like)...I didn't think it would make a difference but I went from 8 oz in 2 hours to 8 oz in 1 hour.
  8. I start everyday saying today "Today will be a better day both emotionally and physically." It reminds me I am fighting everyday to succeed. My surgery was 11/26 and I don't have it all together...yet, but today I can try to do more. More fluids, more vitamins, more protien, more energy, more exercise....I can't do it all today maybe, but I can try to improve something I struggle with each day. Then maybe it will get easier overall. I got on ObesityHelp.com too. They have a food journal app I am using to keep track of food and fluids and protien right now. It also has a fitness/exercise journal and they let you set goals with other people and announce when you have achieved them. Have you written down your short term and long term goals? I don't mean "I want to be skinny." I mean like I want to be a size X by X # of months. I want to walk everyday for a week. I want to be less than 200 lbs. Long term and short term goals can give you a better feeling of success to keep you on the right path. I hope this helps. Feel free to add me as a friend.
  9. Surgery 11/26 and I am down 19 lbs! I can eat all 60g of my protien, it is just a lot of food journalling and meal planning. I am at about 40 or more oz of fluid a day but I am working on it and doing a little better everyday. Vitamins and pills suck. I hate chewing them, don't know why. I just do. I do some walking everyday.
  10. DOS= 263 lbs - Ideal weight 130= 133lb x .6= 79.8 lbs, That would put me at 183 or so pounds. I would like to lose another 50 lbs than that.
  11. I had my RNY done at Baptist Hospital in Pensacola, FL 12 days ago. 1st my Dr does a drain, endoscopy, and barium swallow. All of the hard work paid off in peace of mind if nothing else. My nurses were fabulous and as helpful or not helpful as I needed. I never waited more than 5 minutes and when I called panicked in the middle of the night because I felt like my bladder was going to explode they didn't make me feel stupid. (I had fallen asleep on the tube and it had been backing up, so empty catheter bag/full bladder). The next day I was wheeled down for my barium swallow to xray. They had me sip a couple of times and it was done. The flavor was only so/so but not gag worthy. In addition my surgeon fixed a hiatal hernia he saw during the endoscopy that has corrected and GERD/acid reflux I was suffering. The Dr and his nurse Jennifer both came to see me while I was in recovery. I didn't really watch tv sorry I was sleeping. I also had a drain they checked and emptied every couple of hours. I was kept on a pain pump (not sure what it is called) until half way through day 2. Went home on day 3 feeling tired but good. I went for my followup yesterday and was moved to puree...Yeah! Sounds like your hospital wasn't very interested in your comfort, sorry that they treated you that way. Best of luck to you, hope the rest gets easier for you. Prayers.
  12. I am 8 days out of surgery. Here is what my conundrum is. So I can eat, but drinking seems to be a problem. Some of my favorite foods are eggbeaters with shredded cheese and low fat sour cream it is about 10g of protien I am able to eat and really mushy and tasty. Also mashed potatos with a dollop of cream of chicken and and shredded cheese and sour cream. Unfortunately I think i am only getting about 30g of protien and 30oz of water. The feeling of fullness is so different from liquid to mush. I don't have any pain unless I drink anything cold...my pouch is not happy with cold. Soup is better. My bowels are moving woo-hoo! The period has finally ended. Anyone else having these issues and found a way to get more fluids. Sometimes I wish I could just go in for a weekly IV since I am worried about getting dehydrated.
  13. Anyone else get your period after/during the recovery from your surgery? The cramps seem to be worse.

    Feeling Really Emotional...

I have been doing my reading, research, and starting to stock "My Cupboard". I am mostly packed for the hospital. I have cleaned out my whole wardrobe of "ugly" clothes and put aside my "too small" clothes for later. I am still really EXCITED about the surgery. I am also emotional! Everything that is a distraction in my life is wearing on my nerves. I am finally taking the time to take care of myself and I resent all the petty stuff that is distracting me. I just want to be relaxed and focused. Even working out I feel frustrated. At first I loved working out but the more I am "pushed" out of my comfort zone...ie until I am going to vomit. The more I don't want to be around them. So, I am going to try a couple of sessions at the gym by myself. I am hoping that this moodiness is just PMS and nerves. Ughhh.
  15. When will the weight finally start coming off?

  16. I am still liking GNC's Total Lean 25 shakes in Vanilla Bean.
  17. As soon as my crushed meds are put in my food it becomes so nasty I stop being able to eat and just gag. Then I sleep for most of the day without actually eating or drinking anything. I am only 2 days out from the hospital and 5 days post op, but I am barely eating or drinking and I know I am not having my meds any solutions. We have tried applesauce and cream of wheat. I ate both in the hospital can;t eat at home!

  20. So I got home from the hospital today! I will miss Hillary being right next door! I am still drowsy, but my pain is under control with the loratab and I had a protien shake and a couple of tsp of cream of chicken soup. No nausea still! No vomits! But the 1 hour trip home took almost 2 and it stunk even with a pillow. Glad to be on the losing side, now if only I start losing Glad to be post-op though! 3 days post op today!
