I've been looking through all my paper work and I cannot find how much protein I should be striving for each day. I am 12 days post op. Thoughts?

Vicki, I definitely understand the fear when eating thing. I do not want to DUMP! I hate feeling nausea and every new thing I try I eat a few small bites, wait to see how my body reacts, and then try some more. Question for all.... I am tolerating small amounts of all sorts of food. I have only been following each of the post op phases for 1 week, instead of 2. I wondering if there is harm in eating a variety of foods, instead of the prescribed liquid, puréed, soft phase etc.? I still eat tiny amounts, very slowly. I don't want to mess up the process, but I was craving something to chew. I am now 16 days post op. I have had eggs, Beans, cheese, cottage cheese, natural applesauce, cashews (today), even a couple of turkey pepperoni, hummus, avocados... So far (fingers crossed) everything is tolerated. Do you think it's okay to move ahead with food? Anybody else eating regular foods already?

Day 2 of back to work and today I am 2 weeks post op! Yeah! Work is fine, but coaching my girls is hard. We are mid season (basketball) and I had practice yesterday and a game today. I am pooped. It's 8:30 and I am about to go to bed! Teaching has been fine except or loosing my loud teacher voice. I have to hold my side when I need to talk over 30 plus middle schoolers! And coaching... Well I was not as animated as I normally am on he side lines. Ref missed a call... Oh well, I can't yell at him cause it hurts! We won anyway! Yeah! Now I'm going to bed. Thank God in Heaven for weekends. One more day of work and no ball practice, I have my first post op tomorrow, looking forward to hearing docs take on my progress. Good night, ya'll? ( Yes.. I'm from NC) -

I have stayed cold post op. I went back to work yesterday and the heat in my classroom is not working. I was freezing all day... With my coat on. Today I will wear hat, gloves, and scarf in case it is still broken! -

I only did the shakes for the first 9 days post op. then I started to shift to the soft Proteins. I will be 2 weeks post op tomorrow. So far I have had Greek yogurt, all natural applesauce, hummus, sugar free pudding, Beans, eggs, mozzarella, homemade chicken stock with herbs...I try a few small bites and wait to see how my stomach feels. So far so good. I literally got to the point where I would get nausea just thinking about the shakes. I add Protein powder to everything and have been starting the morning with a protein Peanut Butter shake. Crazy tiny portions, but I am satisfied and full. Good Luck.

Welcome home Old Hippie Gal. My doc sent me home with a liquid prescription on hydrocodone that was great for those first few days. If the pills are too difficult I would ask for a liquid script. Good Luck. I was super sleepy at first, too. I have more energy everyday. Hope you are good. Take it slow and listen to your body. Naps are your friend! -
I am using the unflavored by unjury.

Good to hear from you Old Hippie Gal! I think it is normal to be anxious. I'm thinking of you and praying for your recovery. I found it easier to relax once I got home in my own bed and surroundings. Good luck! You've got this. -
Yes, it was great. I only had one tablespoon. I ate it plain. It was delicious. I eat everything very, very slow.

Thanks. I am definitely not getting enough. I need to start the day with a shake. Just curious but when you guys say a scoop... Its that huge scoop that comes in the canister. Shazam! That is a lot. I used someone's suggestion of putting one scoop in a bowl on the counter in the morning and I add a little bit to everything... Well that bowl has been there for 3 days and I still haven't used it all. One scoop equals like 4 or 5 tablespoons! I'll keep trying. Gotta get more in!

The chocolate splendor is pretty good. I kid the unflavored in everything. Also, I added the chicken soup flavor to warm chicken broth. That was very satisfying. Just make sure you do not heat the broth above 140 degrees because that changes the Proteins. -
