Oh my goodness, SimplySouthern! Prayers headed out for you. I hate that this has been so incredibly hard for you! Hopefully this time they will figure out the underlying cause. Praying for you!

I'm still on post op liquids, but a crunchy apple sounds delicious right now. How much can you eat?

    Having Doubts!

It is a very personal choice, but I can say I have no regrets. I was 258 at my highest weight. My hypothyroidism made it nearly impossible to loose weight and keep it off. After yo yo ing all my 20s and 1/2 my 30s, I decided on the surgery. I didn't have health problems... Yet, but mobility was becoming a factor. At 35 I felt limited in what I could do. I am only 6 days post op, but already feel pretty good and I love looking forward to things I will be able to do. Surgery is no joke. It is a big deal and the first few days, I felt like crap. Even then, though, I kept focused on what will be. If you are not ready, postpone the surgery, learn more about it, and make your choice when you are ready. Good Luck!!

    100lbs gone!

Aayers88, good Luck in March. I think the secret to success is following doctors plans and diets. I'm down 30 pounds and I am 6 days post op. I lost 20 pounds in the 2 week liquid pre op diet and another 10 in the first 5 days post op. too early this am.. I haven't even gotten out of bed, but I could be down a little more than 30! I did not cheat on the 2 week liquid pre op diet... And that was hard! Now I am walking, sipping Water, doing my best to get in the 200 calories and 24 g of Protein in the first 2 weeks post op. hopefully you get a very good, thorough surgeon. I had to jump through 8 months of hoops before surgery, but I can say I was prepared and educated about what it takes to succeed! Good Luck. I look forward to hearing your story unfold!
  9. Girl, 110 is model skinny. You look fantastic right now. You look fit and healthy. Please rethink 110. You look amazing right now!

I had gotten headaches since surgery, which is pretty rare for me. In the hospital it was bad, but sat home not as much. No idea what that is about. I am 6 days post op now and my "meals" are like 2 sips of shake. It is really hard for me to get 1/4 cup down in one setting. I had to switch up on doctor's orders because he prescribed OptiSource shakes and they are disgusting. I tried for a few days and could only get about 1/4 cup all day. Now I'm switching it up adding protein powder to sf pudding, chicken broth, etc. I'm able to get more protein in this way. It's really crazy that it is a struggle to get 200 calories, 24 proteins, and 48 oz of water a day!
  12. I'm 5 days post op and have not had a BM. I on all liquid diet and urine output is fine. My doc gave me milk of magnesium but I haven't taken it yet. Think I'm still a little afraid of BM... Even though its gotta happen. Very curious how long it took folks to have a BM post op?

    FYI on protien shakes

Oh yuck! I had to stomach the strawberry BA shake before I could leave the hospital. It was so yuck. Took me nearly 6 hours. Gross.

Wow, keep sipping Jodie. 10 oz is not enough to sustain your body. I keep water by my bed so anytime I wake up at night I take at least 3 sips. That gets me well on my way for daily quota. Good Luck. Keep on sipping!

MyTimeToLose, That's a great tip for the holidays and really any outing at the beginning. Did you just bust out the measuring cup? Or was it covert? I could see this being helpful at a restaurant too.

    Help after surgery?

My mom and dad came and stayed with me and it was a huge help! It's also nice just in case you need help. It was also kinda of nice getting pampered for a few days!
  17. I am 5 days post op, so surgery is still fresh on my mind. No regrets! It is a big deal. The pain was very manageable, but I was very, very nauseated. That part was hard. I had a lot of meds before surgery to cut down on subsea, but felt like crap the first 24 hours post op. after getting that under control, I was able to start walking around the hospital. I have lost almost 30 pounds since I started the 2 week liquid diet until today. Still sore, but everything is manageable. No regrets! I love stepping on the scale and seeing it melt away. Good luck with your decision!
