Caffeinated coffee post-op
jls2012 replied to erikaloftin's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
How far out was everyone when they started drinking caffeinated coffee? I am at 9 weeks and have been scared to drink it! -
I drink the premier protein shakes that I get from Costco. They have 30 grams of protein in each one. A pack of 18 costs around $25.

Thanks!! This is why I love this forum- excellent support from people who are going thru this with me

I gained 3 pounds last week not sure what happened- was doing great and then I gain! I think I will have to shake it up a little with my diet to start losing again. Wasn't able to get much cardio in this week either. Not worried- I know I will start losing again- just frustrated!

Mine are chewable vitamins. B12 under the tongue. I do have to cut my vitamins into quarters because they are so big!!! I take them every morning after breakfast.

What size are you now?
jls2012 replied to michelecaples's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
When I started I was in size 18 pants and 1xl or 2xl shirts. Now 2 months out- I am a size 14 and large shirts. Down 50 pounds since 12/3/12 -
The day after surgery in the hospital- I went to xray for my swallow test before I could drink and the tech in there said"I can't believe your doctor would do surgery on you- you are not big enough" I thought to myself..hmmm... If I wasn't 'big enough' then my insurance wouldn't have paid for this. The process to get approved and all of the red tape and hoops to jump thru for this and then to have a medical person question it is really really irritating!! I am a nurse and I know that at 233# at 5' 3" I was not healthy and then I am judged and ridiculed because I chose to be proactive and do something about my weight problems! I am proud of me and everyone who has made this choice!!

I did not have panic attacks but I was very emotional after my surgery. The first few weeks were the worst but I do still have emotional days. Talk to your doc and see what they recommend for your anxiety and keep your focus on the long term result Good luck to you!

Ok...I have to confess...last night I went out with my husband and children to a mexican restaurant and had some chips and salsa and then almost a whole taco (not lean) with sour cream (not fat free). I tolerated it very well but was so full I was almost sick. Feel super guilty and refocused today :/ Please share some of your weakest moments! We all have them and have to get thru them :) No blasting for bad choices- just sharing please!

I was told to walk for 30 minutes a day and if I could not tolerate 30 minutes at once, then do it in two 15 minute walking sessions. It was hard for the first couple weeks but once I hit the 3 week point it got a lot easier Good luck

Friday Weigh-In!
jls2012 replied to KevinsBabyGirl85's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am not doing too much exercise. Walking right now- really need to add some cardio!! I measure everything and at one point I was not drinking enough water and I was stalled for about 2 weeks but as soon as I increased my water I started to lose again. I slip up and give in to temptation at times but really what has worked for me is the measuring and weighing all of my food and numbering my water bottles everyday Hope this helps some! -

I use the tropicana 50. It has half the sugar than regular juice. I have tolerated it a lot better than watered down juice -

I took 6 weeks off and was so glad that I did. I went back to work this week and I have been exhausted I know next week will be better. If you are able to take the time off and get into routine with water and meals, I would! I have struggled with both my first week back at work but hope my schedule changes will help with that

jls2012 replied to Simplysouthern26's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Just wanted to share my journey with everyone so far. My surgery was Dec.3rd and everything went really good. I had a good amount of pain the day of and started feeling better each day. I came home on the 5th and I was feeling great On post-op day 4 and 5 - I started to have some pain in my back on the left side. My doc wanted me to go in to have it checked and I had pneumonia I was treated with IV antibiotics and given 2 liquid antibiotics to take at home. The pain in my back was pretty intense for about a week. I am feeling wonderful now I am so glad that I made this choice for a healthier me and every day I am feeling better and better. Even tho I had a rough start and know that there will be more rough patches to come- I am so excited about the new me :) (if any of you guys start having the pain in your back in the rib area-please call your doc and have it checked!) I am starting to walk more and more and I am starting to get my liquids and protien in like I should. I wish everyone luck and hope you all have a speedy recovery and are feeling as good as I am -
