I had flouro on Friday and my port is totally flipped. They tried to manipulate it but couldn't. So I am having a revision surgery but they don't know when they can schedule because I have to pay the hospital fees and my doctor is going to reimburse me with free care for a few extra years. So I am dissappointed because I am very hungry now, and no longer loosing weight. However, I just want to get this surgery over with so I can get a fill and get back on the wagon.

There was one day that I was really sore in the port area but there wasn't really a sudden pain. They aren't sure why it flipped. He said it could just be my body and the port needs to be somewhere else. He stiched it in place so I don't know how I didn't notice the stitches popped. He said we will know more after the flouro and the surgery. I think it is going to be scheduled for this friday.

I went back to my doctor today and they are now saying that my port is flipped. This is only the second time in 6 years that a port has flipped before the first fill. So they scheduled me for flouro and a port surgery in the same day. Waiting on them to call me with the date... Sucks because I am at a standstill with the weight loss. ....

No not unless its' needed. Today I saw the nurse practicioner right before close. I guess that is going to be an option for Friday... All I can say is I am hurting from being stuck so much. and I hope that friday is not a repeat of today. I have an hour drive home and I was booking it to get to my tylenol.

I am so dissappointed. I went for my first fill and they couldn't get the port. It sounded like the needle was hitting metal. I have to go back friday to see the doctor and probably get xrays. They kept saying to hope that it was at an odd angle...

I go in tommorow for my first fill. I am slightly nervous about it only because I will be relearning what I can eat. I am hoping that they can find my port easily!

September Exercise Challenge
brandottie01 replied to musicalmomma's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Question: I am graduating with my masters in december and for graduation my parents are going to get me some exercise equipment since there isn't a gym with childcare around my house. I have an elliptical but I need something else that I can work out on. I was thinking a bike... Also any suggestions for weight lifting? I'm only a little over 4 weeks out so I can't do anything right now and I am not strong to start off with. I want to focus on my arms and abs. -
Went for my first walk with DH, dog and two year old. It was great. It was nice to exercise as a family. We have a quiet neighborhood and my son enjoyed ridding around telling everyone hi.. I enjoyed the company of my DH.

"Courtesy" parking for pregnant women and ones with children
brandottie01 replied to thebrick's topic in Pregnancy with Weight Loss Surgery
We don't have that around here but it sure would be nice. When I was pregnant I wasn't exactly bedridden but I had very limited acitivity because my blood pressure would get really high. They wouldn't give me a handicap tag but I would pass out if my pressure got too high. That would have made shopping feasible... I had to get clothes somehow It would also be nice with my 2 year old. So many people drive around the parking lot like a bat out of hell around here that I have to hold my 35 lb child because I worry. Plus the whole having to put them in and leave the door wide open is a pain because people park waay too close to the lines. Maybe the idea will make its' way down here eventually. -
Help! I am having some serious problems with liquid yogurt!!!
brandottie01 replied to missy's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have found that since surgery I am either one way or another. I can't seem to find a balance with that... Immodium and milk of magnesia have been my friends. -

I found that I could not eat tuna, but I do bring egg salad. It's high in protein and I allow myself a few crackers to go with it. For snack I eat a Atkins caramel chocolate protein bar. It tastes great and it satisfies my afternoon sweets craving. -
I just order an appetizer or off the kids menu and say that I am dieting. If I can't find anything on the menu I know I can eat I just get soup. They all seem to accept that. I definately don't try food in public though. I have only PBd once and it was a long ordeal, thus I never want to experience that in public.

I am thinking Jessica Biel. She's still got some curve to her. However I realize thats pretty unrealistic.

My port is in that are and it bothers me. My doc said the port site can be tender for up to a year. If I do somethign strenous then it bothers me or if I sleep wrong on it. Don't know if that's your problem though.

I am so excited. I finally convinced my DH to take family walks in the evening. Pre-band he was never really interested in talking about how I need to exercise. He was probably scared I would bite his head off:) So I will be doing my elliptical in the morning and walking with my family at night. I want to get up to an hour of exercise a day.

My goal is to be to Onederland by December 1st.
-
I will commit. I just started my elliptical back. Strangely enough I don't mind doing it as much as before my band. I think I am simply more motivated since I know I will loose. I put a tickler in my signature with the time I want to accomplish during the 21 days.

September Exercise Challenge
brandottie01 replied to musicalmomma's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
This is my first month exercising and I am going to go with 20 min a day 5 days a week for a total of 400 min. -
For mushies they suggested pudding, applesauce, yogurt, some non starch veggies cooked extremely well. Carrots are great because you can mush them up. We also were allowed scrambled eggs. I have a food processor so I used that on anything I make to make it easier to swallow.

I'm schedules for 9/17. Yea I am starting to be able to eat more but am trying to stick with smaller portions. If I am still hungry after a while then I will eat a small snack that is high in protein. I just don't want to gain the weight back I am also having alot of trouble finding a gym. There isn't a gym anywhere near me with childcare...

My doctor says to take the Flintstones with Iron twice a day. One in the morning and one at night. In addition they use Metanex.. I think it is a B12 supplement.

Crazy Ates: GET TO KNOW ME!! How Did I Get Here?
brandottie01 replied to NanaRenan's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I WAS BORN IN: Baton Rouge LA AND GREW UP IN: Miami FL, Baton Rouge, Natchitoches LA I MOVED AWAY FROM HOME WHEN/BECAUSE: I went to boarding school for high school. SINCE THEN I'VE LIVED:In or around the New Orleans area I TRAVEL AS OFTEN: HA I have a two year old... we make the rounds between family in Dallas, Knoxville, Mississippi & I travel with my math team. This year we went to Tampa (without the baby but with 7 teenagers.. I think I would have rather my two year old after 8 days of teenage DRAMA.) FARTHEST I'VE EVER BEEN FROM HOME IS: Carribean or upstate New York. BEST VACATION EVER, THAT I'D REPEAT IN A HEARTBEAT: I worked for an organization for a summer and the first part of our job was to get to know one another and learn to work as a team. we went on a big tour bus all over the US: New York, Michigan, Indiana, Washington, and all sorts of place in between. WORST VACATION EVER, THAT WILL HAUNT ME TIL I DIE: Don't have one of those yet. ALTHOUGH when we evacuated for Katrina that would be the TRIP from hell. It turned on the same day so I had a few hours to pack my 8 month old up and forgot all sorts of stuf and then we sat in the parking lot of cars. It took us 3 hours to go 60 miles. Then we had to drive so late into the night trying to make it to my grandmothers house and Jacob decided to scream like the last 3 hours. DREAM VACATION IF TIME AND MONEY WERE NO OBJECT: The honeymoon that I have planned out for someday. Cruise to the UK see the sights there, catch a train or fly to Spain. Visit Madrid see the gypsies in Sevila. Possibly fly to Italy and spend a few days there. SPECIAL PLACE I NEVER GET TIRED OF GOING BACK TO: My maw-maw in Mississippi. She lives in the middle of nowhere. No cell phone reception or anything. It's just nice to get away from the business of life. Of course, her house is stocked with fun outdoor activities like a fishing pond, four wheelers, hunting stands, hiking trails, a huge porch with rocking chairs and we usually start up a softball game with the rest of the family.
