  1. Congrats!!! October will be here before you know it!
  2. Shelbi.... I'm very sorry to hear the news. I hope your friend is doing well and I can only imagine how grateful she is for your hugs right now. You all are in my thoughts.
  3. want2bmeagain - I was going to tell you that I'm staying at the Holiday Inn right across from Crown Point. The Hampton Inn was our first choice but they would not give me a medical discount. They also would not give me a refrigerator and I believe our liquid medications have to be stored there. DH wanted to stay there because he thought the pool looked nicer and he is training for a triathlon now. At the Holiday Inn, the king room I have is $90 a night. But now I feel dumb because I can't remember if that is the medical rate or the AAA rate.
  4. Hi everyone!! Nuts.... I won't still be in Colorado by the 11th. I fly back home on the 8th. Maybe some day I can make a dinner! I haven't decided where I'm going to do my fills yet, kind of seeing how easy it is to get to Denver and Dr. K's office and back before I make a real decision. DH wouldn't go with me so it would just be myself and it's so much nicer traveling with someone else! Maybe I have a short attention span while trying to occupy myself! LOL I start my pre-op diet tomorrow.... it's a few days early but I figure I have nothing to loose but weight! I'm having a bit of "last meal syndrome". Not tooo bad, but I think DH and I are going to do dinner out tonight. I won't overdo it, just order my normal meal. Well it's about to be un-normal and I'm looking forward to that change!
  5. Oh Shelbie.... hang in there! Many prayers for Ann and her dad and to you too!!

    Newbie.. banded on 7/31/07

Welcome! Congratulations on your band! How has your recovery been?
  7. Congratulations Shesha! You're doing great!!!
  8. OK Mal, try this... on the far right, next to the Logout in the blue menu bar for LapBandTalk, open "Quick Links". This is above where it says "Welcome Mal" and "You last visted: Today". Select "Edit Profile" when the Quick Links menu pops down and it will be in there. UserCP stands for User Control Panel, and that is on the left hand side of the blue area. Both will get you to the same place!
  9. Good job Mal!!! I would give you a dancing banana, but it appears you already have one! LOL

    To be banded on 09/11

Hi Nan! I think it's very natural to be nervous. You've agreed to go into surgery willingly! It has helped me to keep a list handy of all the reasons why I am choosing to live a better life as a smaller person. That gets me through my scared moments. We all have them, but I have the courage to keep going! I choose my health and really I should be scared if I don't!

    Newly Banded

Congrats on your band! Follow your aftercare instructions closely, like you are. Get lots of walking in, that will help move all that gas out!

    Hello from a Newbie!!!

Welcome Pam! This is the place to be to learn.... people are honest. You'll know the pros and cons to make a decision for yourself. Look around and if you have questions, fire away!
  13. Lap_dancer - you look great!!! Glowing from within! Marilyn - Glad you are feeling well! Thanks for the update!
  14. Hey Woofay! I am very excited - I had my call with Paula today. We're actually staying at the Holiday Inn. Everytime I called the Hampton Inn, I got the "new girl" and she didn't know anything about a medical rate or anything. She also wouldn't give me a mini fridge unless I had the suite so I moved on to the other hotel that Marilyn gave me. If my DH has to read a magazine or book while I'm in surgery, I think he'll live! LOL Mal - getting sick in the summer is the worst... ugh! Have fun at your fill tomorrow! Lap_Dancer - thank you for posting your OA information! It really gets me thinking. Dynamo - Good luck Saturday! No worries, OK??
  15. Mine is on 9/5. I can't believe how many September bandsters we have!

  19. littleroo1

    Kind of Gross question But....

OH I know exactly what you are talking about! I feel for ya and it's just one more thing to deal with. Do you wear tampons? That is what I'm going to have to do as I'm due right around my surgery date. I told my doctor this yesterday and he kind of laughed saying my period wasn't a problem but I said that if I didn't tell him, I would be worrying about it for the next 3 weeks. They'll let you wear the super sexy paper panties. :omg:

    Hi Laura! Welcome!!

    Aussie newbie

Hi Nikki - welcome! It is perfectly normal to have second thoughts! My surgery is 9/5 and I think I'm nervous, anxious, and excited - all rolled into one! I told my DH to be calm and remind myself of all the reasons why I'm doing this when I am going through one of my "I'll talk myself out of it phases". It helps to have a list in front of you and I know for me, the side to do it far outweighs the side to not. It's OK to reach out and say "I need help!". Glad to have you here!!

    new with questions

I was told to take in 60 grams of Protein a day. A lot of it will depend on you personally and your band. If you are not getting enough by eating alone, you can supplement with a shake. Using a program like fitday.com can help you plan your meals and how many nutrients you are getting on a daily basis. Welcome! Glad to have you here!
