At 12 I made a shake with ensure and 1/2 banana, I'm still drinking it and its now almost 2 I only drank half. How does fetus survive if I'm getting no nutrient? I'm also tired all the time. converted from Lap-Band to RNY 10/2/12 -
2 1/2 Months Post Op And Pregnant
change4ever12 replied to HamDan's topic in Pregnancy with Weight Loss Surgery
Hi, my obgyn and surgeon recommend to wait. My surgeon says its a high risk pregnancy. Obgyn said no , which I don't care for. I'm going to find another one. I maybe can eat 3 bites of something if I'm lucky. Of course, Italian ice goes down. I'm trying to drink ensure now. I feel horrible, no energy. I had a bag of IV Fluid last night. I told my surgeon I'm never hungry, he says that's a good thing. I don't know if I should seek out a new one. converted from Lap-Band to RNY 10/2/12 -

He says going under a sedative is so early on. I suspect I'm only 5 weeks. When were you dilated? converted from Lap-Band to RNY 10/2/12 -
Please help...I'm 2 months post op, having difficulty eating anything. O already had a stricture. Doc has me on liquids right now to minimize swelling. I feel like crap all the day. Nauseous and vomiting which I attribute to bypass but now found out I'm pregnant. Obv didn't plan for this. How can a baby flourish when I can hardly eat? I may need another endoscopy with dilitation, how can that take place pregnant? I'm concerned for my health and this child? I don't want to go through with this if I can't properly nourish this fetus. Any thoughts? Thank you for all your continued support and encouragement! converted from Lap-Band to RNY 10/2/12

2 1/2 Months Post Op And Pregnant

Thank you for responding. I've been dilated twice and doc was possibly going to do another one next week but cannot now. I can hardly eat. He says overtime, if I'm careful it should heal. He said right now focus on fluids, Proteins, I have to increase fat intake and carbs. Since its so hard for me to eat he recommends a higher calorie Protein shake for now. I'm so worried that this baby will be mal nourished. He also says I have to figure out a way not to lose more than 20 lbs during this pregnancy. Idk how ill do that if I have no desire to eat. Currently, I regret this surgery. I pray it gets better. I meet with my obgyn tomorrow. I need to find out her knowledge with this and of she's high risk. I also live in ny, where about are you? converted from Lap-Band to RNY 10/2/12 -

Hi there, Congrats and wish you best of luck. I'm in same situation as you. I'm 2 months post op, just found out I'm pregnant on Tuesday. I already had a stricture and still can't eat!! I'm very worried about my health and if I can even carry this child or is it safe to do so. I meet with doctors this week, I suspect I'm 5 weeks. Can we please stay in touch as support and to compare notes? converted from Lap-Band to RNY 10/2/12 -
Hi all, I'm post op RNY since 10/2. I'm absolutely miserable and regret it. I can't eat! Im 30 lbs down & felt better before surgery. I had a stricture which the doc did an endo twice to fix. Certain smells, foods, and even brushing my teeth at times makes me vomit. The shakes are vile, taste of Vitamins are awful too. Idk what to do. Doc says it'll take time but I should feel better and be able to eat more in a couple months. I can't go another day. Does anyone have similar experience? Will it get better? converted from Lap-Band to RNY 10/2/12

Yes, I had bypass. I cannot say that I don't recommend it, stories are diff for everyone. I'm just at the point where I wish that I didn't do it. I hope I feel different soon. I can't eat, hardly drink, how do you survive like that. Thank you for the well wishes. converted from Lap-Band to RNY 10/2/12

I do take prilosec that the doc prescribed for 3 months after surgery. Today, I couldn't hold anything down, not even crystal light. Tomorrow, doc wants to see me, may need an endoscopy. converted from Lap-Band to RNY 10/2/12

I have nausea also. Just brushing my teeth makes me vomit! I wasn't this bad when I was pregnant. Foods I used to like I now don't. Just the thought of eating it is enough to make me hurl. My sense of smell is so keen its nauseating. Idk if this is normal, but I hate it. Sometimes I wish I didn't do this to myself. converted from Lap-Band to RNY 10/2/12

Hi everyone, I'm new to this site & a new gastric bypass patient as of 10/02. My surgeon says 2 weeks protein shakes followed by another 2 weeks soft food before you begin regular food again. I'm 11 days post Op and SICK of shakes. I am starting to feel somewhat hungry and have tried a couple things like, soup, crackers. Idk what to do, Im afraid to screw up my new "insides" by eating too soon. What are your surgeon's rules?

Hi, I agree with you regarding finding it strange to be able to eat so soon after major surgery like this. I'm 12 days out, my doc says only protein shakes for 2 weeks. Just shakes, nothing else! Then soft foods. I'm at the point that I can't stand them, starting to feel hungry so I tried soup, egg salad and I had no problem. I hear others can't even drink 1 shake so soon after surgery. Makes me want to think there's something wrong.
