Pcos And Gastric Bypass
Nurse Jen replied to starrnhuff's topic in Pregnancy with Weight Loss Surgery
I saw that, how is your pregnancy going? -
I'm two weeks out and my moods have been everywhere and I take a low dose mood pill, I have been on them since I was diagnosed with PCOS. So I know they must be powerful mood swings to come through my meds My husband remembered hearing that it happens in my support group meetings and has been really awesome. They say it gets better.

Pcos And Gastric Bypass

How far out from surgery are you? Yes I have heard that too. My husband is as invested in this surgery as I am because we both know that the end goal will be children, nit for me to be skinny or "hot"....not that those aren't perks but our main focus is babies -
Had my surgery on 9/25/12. I haven't returned to work yet and that may be why my sleep schedule is off. Has anyone else had trouble sleeping post gastric bypass? I can't get to sleep until well after 3am every night now. Thoughts appreciated.

Pcos And Gastric Bypass
Nurse Jen replied to starrnhuff's topic in Pregnancy with Weight Loss Surgery
I am 28 and have suffered with PCOS since I was 19, it went undiagnosed until I was 23. That is how I put in all my weight due to insulin resistance. Anyway my husband and I have tried since I was 19 to get pregnant to no avail. I sought out this surgery because it would help me lose weight which could help increase our odds of getting pregnant. My Bariatric surgeon is confident that this surgery will correct the metabolic issues that prevent me getting pregnant. With all of that said, I am a little over 2 weeks post op and I have had my first regular period in years without my medication ( I was taking metformin) or birth control. So I am holding out hope this will be our answer. -

Yeah once it's done it's like.....did this really happen? I'm really happy for you because I know exactly that moment when you are approved and the pieces slide into place just how awesome that feels and it keeps getting better. I have had some ups and downs since surgery but I feel like I have accomplished so much, you should be proud of yourself....we all should be -
Just Got Out From The Hospital And Taking It Slow
Nurse Jen replied to number 7's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Yes wait to weigh....I weighed my first day out of the hospital and was 12lbs heavier than when I went in.....even though you know it's because you are swollen and full of fluids it still burns you up when all you have has is Water for days....lol But then you lose it and more in a few days and it's worth it. So my suggestion is wait -
1St Round Of Appts. Check!
Nurse Jen replied to A Rose's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Ahhhhhhhhhhhh the millions of appts.....I managed to fit all of mine in the first month. Luckily my Insurance company had no pre requisites that I had to do which was awesome, besides have had 6 months or more of weight loss attempts which my PCP had documented over the years. I was approved by July but had a cruise in September that I did not want to be writhing in pain on so I put it off. But I had to see my surgeon every 30 days and not gain any weight which was so stressful but I made it. Hang in there, it will be overt before you know it. -

Awesome!! Half your battle is done, now you can look forward to moving forward. -
All of these ideas are perfect, you will need Chapstick for the hospital. I brought comfy clothes for my 2nd day, once they pull the cath out you can wear normal clothes (bring baggy comfortable stuff, slippers with a non skid bottom for walking).

When Can I Sleep In My Stomach?
Nurse Jen replied to number 7's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I am two weeks out from surgery and have finally been able to sleep on my stomach. I still can't sleep on my side yet, it's still tender. But if I lay just right I can get by on my stomach now. Surgery Date 9/25/12 -
I was on clear liquids for 4 days post op. I had my surgery on a Tuesday and by Saturday I could start the full liquid diet which included yogurt.
