Oh and did your file have to be reviewed before they gave you the surgery date? How do you feel now? Did you have any issues?
-
Hi justjenn did you only have to do the 3 mos diet or was there other things you had to do as well. Monday the 7th I have my social worker and nutritionist and sleep study appointments. I think I am getting pretty close to seing the surgeon.
-
Thanks! You too!
-
Ya i have done a orientation class, 8 week weight management class, a complexity of weight loss class and now I finally have my appointment with the nutritionist and social worker on Jan 7th. So getting closer I think! They really want you to be well informed. I also belong to the support group out of Kaiser. Long laundry list that's for sure!

Oh really!! Small world I work at Kaiser Permanente in Portland. I've been working towards this surgery since September now and I think I am finally getting close.

Hi Erika is that Salem Hospital in Oregon?
-
I can't wait until I have a date!
-
Congrats on your date! I'm still in the process of it all but getting closer!
-
Yes do! I found some really good looking drinks and recipes! I might even try some before surgery!
-
Ya I think this is going to be so much harder than I thought but so worth it. I get the feeling that there will be a lot of planning involved. Sounds like you are getting a handle on it though. If you can make it thru everything you have made it thru, you'll get this too! Quitting smoking is frekin hard. I know I quit about 7 years ago. That was hard!! So I hear ya on that one! It might be easier to make a eating plan. Like times and amounts too.? Have you looked at the world according to egg face? There is info on pinterest too. I think the other one was called barritric foodie or something like that. Lots of good info

Yes I do have good support. My husband is totally on board and has learned almost as much as I have in this process. I am also going to a support group thru Kaiser Permanente. My parents are ok but my mom is scared about the surgery and keeps asking me if I'm sure that this is what I want. I also have 2 uncles and 2 cousins who have already had the surgery. One cousin is not doing well she cheat. The others have done super. One uncle lost 200, the other lost 145 and my cousin lost 165. So I can email them or call if I want. So ya I do have a pretty good support system in place. I'm pretty lucky that way. This app has been a real inspiration to me as well. I found it some time ago and just read and read everyone's posts. I usually check it every day for new things. I found the egg face website and a couple others too. I love seing what everyone is doing and saying in the posts.

She does look great! Lol I don't have a clue how the heck I did that! Too funny! Yes I Ned to do it every day and that is where I am lacking still. The stairs I do at work but only for the last week and the walking I've been doing for a couple weeks now but not every day. You are doing really good!!
-
Uh oh some how I attached someone's picture to my thread! Lolololol
-
Thanks. The only thing is its not every day yet.. But hopefully I will get there. Someday! Lol Mostly I'm just ready to get on with this. Feels like limbo land right now. How long are you post op? How much have you lost?
-
Wow cancer and all the weight stuff too! Man that must have been rough... I hope your doing good now. Exercise and I are not very good friends. Lol I've been trying, some. More than I ever did before so that is a plus for me and I know that I will have to step it up. Just have to get there I'm having trouble trying to figure out what to do. Been doing the stairs at work but I acn only do 5 flights up and down before I huff myself back to my desk. I have been going on more walks and am doing 2 miles in a hour. So that is a improvement from the couch : )
-
Oh wow! I am not sure what kinds of tests I will have to do. I don't think I have to much going on but I know that can change as i didnd think i had sleep apnea either but they are thinking that i do Boarderline high blood pressure for couple years and a BMI of 43. I'm struggling with doing exercise. You sit on your butt for 20 years and it's hard to get moving now.
-
I just can't wait to get there! I'm so ready for this I know it will be hard but I have dreamed of doing this for years! I've been reading everything I can on the subject and now belong to a bypass support group too. Been a busy 4 mos that's for sure! I hope I don't have to go to two appointments with the nutritionist and social worker. It says in our paperwork that you would have two visits with them but some of the group has said it depends on how ready you are or they deem you to be.
-
Yes I'm excited! I had to do a orientation class and a 8 week weight management class then I had a complexity of weight loss class. I have had a sleep apnea consult and am waiting to schedule the actual sleep apnea testing this coming week I think. I have to go to a appointment with the nutritionist and social worker on Jan 7th. Hopefully after that I go in for blood tests and pre op appointments. Then I get to see the surgeon and set a date. It's been awhile but I think the finish line is getting here! Some day! Lol

I just turned 50 this year and I am pre op still but hopefully soon!

Worst comment you've heard so far

That's ok Gen. There are truly nice guys left. You just have to weed your garden and get rid of the bad weeds!!! That's what I did! : ) -
why keep your surgery private
Dawnolson replied to Lovebone89's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I have told close friends and family. I just didn't want to tell everyone until I was sure it was actually going to happen! Lol. I have told a few more now and I did get the "your gonna die" thing from a co worker. I just laughed and said I'm sure I'm not gonna die. -
How r u doing after having surgery on the 17t?? Feeling ok?
-
I like it. No hard to remember moves! Right up my alley! Lol
-
I did exercise this evening. Did 2 miles walking DVD with Leslie Sansome. Then 10 min stretching. That's one night down. : )
