maria pepe replied to changingme's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hang in there! I have months the weight just melts and others almost no movement on the scale. I 'gain' during my period. -
Check out overeaters anonymous for food issues also.

Protein help again
maria pepe replied to Jessica9190's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Try soy or almond milk or lactose free milk. My taste buds have changed drastically. It is all trial and error until you find what works for you. Journal everything you eat..it will make it easier to track intolerance. -
Cool.

11 months. Been following the same routine from the time I reintroduced 'real' food. Most days I have to start protein heavy because I am not hungry most days...biggest change. Or I get hungry and take 1 or 2 bites and I am done. I also don't do either Nutrasweet...migraines...or gluten...cuts carb craving.

I order ice cubes.

I was told to focus on protein first and foremost. I have found that a protein shake or w/ yogurt for breakfast. Protein for lunch and dinner. Veggies and fruits for off meals and snacks works best for me. Getting better with supplements.

I was told no fluids with meals. It dilutes the stomach contents and flushes them fro. The stomach faster. Takes longer to feel full and you consume more calories...which is what got me in this mess to start with.

Ask your doctor for one. I have only had a problem with 1 waitress...she was new. I am a smart ass and offer to show scars. Lol

Almost a year out. When I eat out I order salmon w/ veggies. Or I will get an add on shrimp and veggies. Depends on if I want to deal with leftovers. A normal restaurant meal will get me 3-4 meals depending on what I have ordered. Sometime I order off senior or kids menu. Depends on restaurant.

watching people eat
maria pepe replied to hajones5891's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Judgement? Maybe. Definitely a clear recognition and mirroring of my past behaviors and a desire not to return to that life style. I had to eat every piece of crap that I did to get to where I was that led to the surgery and a new way of life. It is the same way I look at active alcoholism. I can live without booze...I can not live without food. I am committed to a new way of life. Some days I do better than others. -

Fortunately my depression is just seasonal. So far it has been managed by extra vitamin d and time in the sun. Living in Florida helps! 8 months out I just had my first really big mental spin out. This time of year is not always the best...anniversaries of deaths and birthday. I had to go by new clothes. I was told to stop hiding in baggy stuff! Freaked me out. I had to try stuff on. Emotionally painful and frightening...outside my comfort zone. I was reminded that this year I cannot, because of the surgery, deal with this stuff with my favorite drug..food! I do have to pay attention to mental health issues because of family history. This site as well as my surgery programs help me to know I am not alone on this journey.

Right there with you. I am both amazed and disgusted watching others eat, knowing that used to be me. -
Salt is still cyclic for me. I have found if I address it I lose the urge to dump salt directly on my tongue. Lol. If I eat well seasoned food it happens less. .
