I just wanted to introduce myself. I am a 30 year old wife and a mother of 2 boys and 2 girls. I was scheduled for the band on July 2 but during my physical for the surgery they found nodules on my thyroid so instead of having the band I had my thyroid removed. Talk about a change of plans. I will be rescheduling hopefully soon. My case is a little different because I am a revision. About 5 years ago I had a non-adjustable band put on and it has slipped. So I am anxious to have this surgery. Thank you for letting me introduce myself.

It is very very busy but lots of fun having a house full! This particular band is done by a doctor in Houston TX. The main issue with the first band is that it was non adjustable and as all of us know there is no such thing as a one size fits all. So it may work great for some but not be loose or tight enough for others. This is going to be a very different experience for me. They made us eat solids before we left the hospital with the non adjustable band. But I do not regret getting it at the time. The lap-band was just starting to catch on in the U.S. and I did not feel comfortable personally having the bypass. But I was near 300 pounds when I had it done and I weigh 230 now. I know that if I had not had it I would have just kept on gaining. But I am ready to pull the rest of this weight off.

Hi, I am a little nervous to post because this isn't something I have done too much of. I am 30 years old I have been married for 10 1/2 years. I have 4 children ages 7, 5, 3 and 9 months and we reside in Central Texas. Needless to say there is always something going on around our house. My surgery date is July 24. I will be having a revision done because I had a previous band put on five years ago. It is called the "Molina" band. Named after the doctor who performed it. It is a non-adjustable band but it has slipped which from what I understand happens frequently with this particular surgery. I don't know if any of you watch Big Medicine on Monday nights but two weeks ago they took one off of a patient before she had the bypass. I am nervous and very excited. I am sorry if this post was to long but I appreciate all of the information that you share.

Thank you, and I am very glad that it was found the even better news is that it was not cancer. So now I can move on. My new surgery date is July 24. So I do not have that long to wait. I think I still feel numb to the fact it is going to be happening so soon. But I am ready.
