Getting my gallbladder removed
vbgirl264 replied to vbgirl264's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks everyone for the responses. Seems like its about 50/50. People have told me little to no pain but than I've also heard that the pain was worse than rny. I have a 2 year old son so I'm trying to figure out how long I may need help because my husband can only take off work the day of surgery. -
Has anybody had to drink the barium stuff for a cat scan? We're u able to drink it all and were u able to keep it down. Did it make u dump. I'm about to have to drink it and I don't know how it's going to go

Well yesterday I was able to drink the water mixture with the dye in it. Wasn't too bad. Only bad thing is last night I developed a bad reaction to the Iv contrast they gave me... Sucked!!

Has anyone had there gallbladder removed a few months after rny. I'm a lil over 3 months out and I'm curious to know the recovery time and pain and stuff.

Well I had surgery in January of this year. I tried drinking the drink and it made me throw up. I called the ct people and they are having me come to the hospital and try a different drink.. This is gonna suck. I don't wanna keep throwing up while trying to drink this. Almost wanna change my mind and not get the scan

Gallbladder surgery
vbgirl264 replied to vbgirl264's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My surgeon told me that he doesn't remove the gallbladder during because not all patients have gallbladder issues after surgery and he wants to get in and out of the operating room as quick as possible because the longer were cut open the higher the risk of infections. He said he usually removes it before or after surgery if its an issue. -
For about a week now I've had left upper abdominal pain that has me in the ER and they ran a bunch of test and everything was normal. No kidney infection, kidney stones, no blockages, nothing... I saw my surgeon Friday for my 3 month check up and I told him about my symptoms and he thinks I might have pulled a muscle or irritated one of my incisions. Urg.

I actually started weighing myself after my first post op appointment with my surgeon, which was 10 days after surgery. I knew I would have gained weight from all the Iv's and stuff that I just waited.

The picture on the left was taken a year ago at my highest weight ever. Picture on the right was taken this week with a total of 75 pounds lost! Still have a long way to go but i am so happy!

I am 3 months post op as well and have bad dizzy spells and lightheaded. I went to the doc and he did blood work and all he could find was I had low potassium as well. -
You look awesome! Great job!

That is the thing I don't understand. It's been two days of pain and today's pain is worse but it's not so bad that I can't walk or sit or stuff. Do kidney stones take time to build up the pain? I thought it was always sudden out of the blue horrid pain... Idk..

Homemade. I just used the leanest meat I could find ( 90/10), tomato paste, beans, and seasonings.. I like my chili with a little salsa. Once it was cooked I put it in a food processor. A lot of people also get Wendy's chili. My nutritionist actually recommended it as well. I just always made my own -

One of my favorite foods right after surgery was puréed chili. I loved it! -
Oh and I had surgery at the end of January and no I didn't have a catheter after surgery.
-
I don't have any other symptom but the lower left back pain. It's a constant intense pain that has gotten worse in the last two days. Putting pressure to the area sends shooting sharp pain
-
I lot of pain on my left side. I looked online and where my pain is indicates something with my kidney. I'm afraid I have a kidney infection possible.

Idk who I call thou. My surgeon or my family doctor.

I know how you feel! I had surgery in January and before surgery i was in size 22 pants and 3xl shirts! I went shopping yesterday and i was able to get into a size 14 jean and they are a lil baggy and an XL shirt ( both at old navy). It's almost unreal that I'm in sizes I wore in high school. I still don't feel like I've lost weight thou. I look at myself and still still an almost 300 pound 22 year old but in reality I'm 205 pounds now! -
