I am in banster *&%$ with you and I only got banded on 10/16 10 days ago!! At first I wasnt hungry, but I am starving all the time now. I ate a whole (mushy w/sour cream) baked potato...It made me sick to think I could eat that and be perfectly fine. I was at lunch and surrounded by people, so I didnt notice I had eaten it all unitl it was gone and then I was like omg I just ate the whole &*^% thing!! Then about 3 hours later I was hungry again:eek: WHAT AM I GONNA DO????

uxbus5, We were banded the same day!! I had the most violent hiccup attack about 4 days post op. It hurt sooooo bad. My hubby was kinda freaked out because at fist I was laughing bc it wouldnt stop but then I kept screaming in pain bc it wouldnt stop. FINALLY after about five minutes, I held my breath until I thought I was going to pass out...And it worked!! I only have minor hiccup-burps every so often, nothing like that attack though, I thought I was going to die hiccuping...LOL

Topdownbug, Hello again. We are in the same boat. I was prepared for this though. I had read that the first week or so, you retain Water and are so swollen that you can actually appear to have gained weight. So yes, I stepped on the scale when I know I shouldnt have, and yes, I gained weight, 4 pounds!!! BUT I know (most of the time) that if I stick with this, I will win this fight! I made it back to work today and it is a loooonnnnggg walk to my desk from the prkng lot, so I usually hoof it to get some carido in on the way in and out. Maybe that will help. I am still a little slow though...LOL so maybe not...Anyway, Just wanted to let you know I know how you feel and have the same issue. Next Thurs is my post op, maybe I will be down then, but until then I will try to stay off that dreaded scale....(not very easy for me as I seem to be obsessed) PS IF I have to drink another Protein shake, I might die...LOL So far I am up to 3 low carb slim fasts a day (Doc's recommendation bc I get 60g protein)....OH and dont get me started on WATER...I HATE WATER...LOL

Wow!! That is awesome that you beat the insurance company. I had a time with mine, but as soon as I was approved they wanted to schedule me for the surgery within 5 days. Wasnt ready for that and luckily I needed to have time off approved from work so I scheduled it out a bit. I wish I would have been brave enough to do it in 5 days bc I was going crazy in the interim before banding...LOL Good luck!

Julie, We are very similar in starting and surgery weights. I am 5'4" though. Anyway, I am 6 days out and was supposed to return to work today, but I have had a terrible stomach ache since yesterday. My doc's office opens at nine and I will call bc I didnt go to work today. I guess that is not the point either...LOL I wanted to congratulate you on your success, I would be very happy if I am where you are in your timeframe. It is great that people who are successful post, because when we are feeling ill after surgery, we need some kind of inspiration that what we are going through will pass and we will be happy soon with some weight loss!

Recipes dont do good for me...LOL I wanted FLAVOR!! I went to Taco Cabana and got the tortilla soup and just ate the broth, it was still heavenly, I also got those dried soups and made them and ten strained them but hard enough to push some of the starchy bean or pasta tase through but have no bits...It was yummy!! BUt it is inevitable soup gets old!! Also, to get protein I am doing Slim Fast Low carb shakes. They taste ok, but I have trouble getting enough in....Gotta get that protein...LOL PS if you like french onion soup, a trick to get the same taste without the onions is to make beef bouillion and add som salt pepper and some onion powder to taste....I promise, it tastes like French onion soup!! Yummy!

nickanut, VERY glad to hear you are doing well! I actually felt human today!! LOL I also was weak, so I ate some yummy enchilada Soup from Chili's. It helped that I was able to eat cream Soups today! I weaned myself off of pain meds yesterday but today I woke up with a withdrawl headache, so I took one last itsy bitsy dose. Hopefully that will get me off of them completely. So far tylenol and motrin have been doing the job. Hope you are not in much pain anymore either!!! UPdates!! I would love updates from the others as well on how they are doing on the 4th day out!

so here I am. I got home from surgery center not too long ago. I know it is the first day, but it wasnt bad. I was wheeled in at 1:15pm and the surgery took 1hr and 45min bc the doc said he found scar tissue in my abdomen. WIERD. He asked my husband again if I had ever had abdominal surgery and I havent. Oh well. SO the port pain my be quite a bit mre than normal but I am hoping it isnt so I dont have to go through that. I am scheduled to return to work on Mon 10/22. I will keep you guys posted on how I feel through out this process...bc apparently people really like to know...LOL The only thing I had trouble with was nausea when I was waking up. They had to give me a double shot of nausea and also a double shot of morphine (prob bc of the scar tissue siutuation at the port site). I hope my recovery goes well so I can be on my way to being healhy again!! Thanks for listening. I think I may take a quick nap, BYE!!! Ps those also banded today you are in my thoughts to have a speedy recovery.

ZELE, Please please please read as much as you can to prepare yourself. I feel like one of the lucky ones. The day of surgery I was back online posting, and I havent had as much pain as these guys have. EVERYONE IS DIFFERENT!! Just go into this knowing all of the possibilities of pain or complications. You wouldnt be doing yourself any favors by covering up the things that are possible. Just keep reading on the site and you will see that so many people have completely different experiences. Also, if you have questions ASK that is what we are all here for. I dont think I would have handled all of this so well without this site and the people gathering together for help and to help others. Good luck with your journey!

Renewedhope, While it was rough I did not cheat once on my preop diet. Thay being said, the doc said there was still some fat on my liver. While I lost 11 pounds and didnt eat a darned thing I wasnt supposed to, a little was still there. BUT he did say that my liver was easy to retract so the overall gaol was accomplished. SO, I say try try try not to cheat bc you never know what the doc is gonna find...LOL I wouldn't have wanted him to think I didnt follow his orders and all since this is a LONG term relationship with my surgeon. HANG IN THERE!! You can do this!:clap2:

ESPI, I think it is pretty normal to be scared. I was but I got through it and I am still kickin! Hope to be losing weight soon. Just keep reading and you will find strength!

Your experience sounds pretty bearable. I was very happy to report on the day of surgery that mine went well too. Hope you are still feeling well and that the gas pain has subsided. Are you having any trouble getting liquids down? I am surprised but I am not at all!! I got in all that I was supposed to today! Slowly...LOL but I got it all in. Glad we can all share our experiences, I know I definitely wanted details before I went. How is your port site? Mine is very very painful, oh well the end result will be beautiful!! Keep us posted on how you feel!!

Hey Topdownbug!! So glad to hear you are feeling well. My doc doesnt have em on full liquids yet but I am managing. Not very hungry anyway. I might have overdone it today. I think I will try to rest a lot more tomorrow. My hubby is off until Friday with me so I feel like I can do a lot more that I probably shouldnt do. We went a few places today but I was hitting the pain medication like clockwork bc my port site hurts so bad. Other than that I feel pretty good. Again glad to hear from you and hope you are doing well!!

Congratulations!! After surgery today my heartbeat was lower than normal, but not abnormally so. Did they think there maybe the anesthesia just affected your heart rate?

Well, since I started this whole process I have lost 20 pounds!!!! I hit the big 20 mark today!! I am on the preop diet so that is accellerating things a bit, but I am happy to be here and even happier that I will hit the milestone of 50, 75, 100... !!! I am 2 days out from surgery on the 16th!! I am excited and scared!! Those being banded on monday: Good luck!!

I feel good about my decision!! I am not feeling too bad today (day of surgery) just some port pain, but the doc said he had to dig out scar tissue, so I expesct that to hurt A LOT more tomorrow. At least I am expecting it and have prepared myself...LOL THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR ASKING. I love it here, I feel like I have a second family!!

Thank you, i hope I will be a great MOM. You definitely get points for trying to understand how she feels, but you also have to be the mom and make sure she is in it for the right reasons or she will not succeed. My surgeon and my center put me through pre-op hell for the insurance and to make sure that I was a good candidate. Please dont just go to any old surgeon who will do it anyway. They have those processes in place for a reason and I can finally see why. You have probably seen my journey and all of that time just confirmed for me that I made the right choice and that I have the willpower to follow the BAND rules post op. As for your ex. He may just have to agree to disagree because it is his daughter and she needs suport right now!!!

I will definitely let you know how I feel. I was nervous too. It just goes with the surgery...LOL When I first saw my hubby after I woke up I told him "I cant believe I didnt run screaming when I had the chance"...lol My anesthesiologist was a funny guy, he asked me if I was ready. I said "I think so" and then he said "Well we have your clothes, it would be hard to skip out now"...LOL I had an overall good experience and I was glad because this is the first time I have been "under". Right now I feel [retty good, I took an hour nap and I think I am ready for some beef broth! I am only on clears so only broths for me now! Judy, That is great! My hubby is positive too and very sensitive to my needs right now!! He would probably not laugh though if I asked for and egg mcmuffin!! He would just sternly tell me that I have come too far for an egg mcmuffin to ruin this! LOL By the way, I would much rather have the sausage mcgriddle!! I just have to keep telling myself that in a few weeks for thanksgiving I will have turkey and pie as usual, just not so much!! I think it is about time for me to go to bed. I really am tired. I dont want to just lay there though! Hope you can catch some sleep too and dont work yourself up too much on the ride out. Just think, one day we will have after pictures...LOL

Please don't give up!! I had to appeal and I was finally approved. I have everything and they denied me!!?? Go figure. My BMI was 51, I have type 2 diabetes and HBP. They still denied me. They wanted a 3 to 6 month weight loss program...Thankfully we reapplied after 3 and they approved me. Trust me, the longer you have to wait the more you realize that this is for you, at least that was the case for me. I know it is hard to be denied but keep fighting if you know in your heart this is right for you!

I agree!! We will have to keep in touch. I feel so much better that there are people out there going through this all and willing to share the experience. We all gain so much from the opportunity to share and ask and even whine once in a while...LOL. How long is the ride? I hope not long!! You will do fine!
