I wonder if this place only ever gives 1.2 ccs or less bc I once again got 1.2 cc. Oh well. I guess I will just stick it out. I got a different lady this time and she let me schedule for 2 wks out this time. So, if I have no restriction it is not too long before I go back. Hopefully I will feel something...

I get my fills at a fill center and they ask you a series of questions to determine how much your fill is. I told them i was hungry all the time. Then they asked me if I snacked between meals, and I said no because I am not a big snacker...that does not mean I am not hungry anyway they put in what I thought was a small amount 1.2 ccs (think I have a 10cc band) I asked afterwards why so small, she said because I did not snack between meals!! I wanted to scream bc i felt she didnt listen when I said I was hungry all the time. After the fill, I could eat anything still and to date, I can eat as much as I could before the surgery and I feel like I am starving myself...Needless to say I was very unhappy. But the worst part is that they wanted me to wait 4 weeks for my next fill when my doc said I could go in 2 weeks. The practitioner said she wld compromise and schedul;ed me for 3 weeks and that is coming up on December 6th (thursday). You bet your butt I am going to make it very clear that I feel like I am starving and I am making better choices and excercising but I am still not losing weight. Why would snacking be the only determination for not getting a bigger fill? Especially if I told her that I was hungry all the time. I shouldnt be punished bc i have the willpower not to snack between meals.... Wish me luck...PLEASE...with my fill on Thursday...I need this thing to help me...

I am 26 years old today. That being said... you can never be too prepared. I read and read and read until my eyes hurt, but everyone is different. You will experience different things than other people. Some things you will know from reading but I am telling you, until YOU actually go through it there is no way to know how you will react both physically and emotionally. I will not lie to you. This is a tough journey but the rewards will be great. I am proud to say that I do not regret this, but I have really tough moments namely when something gets stuck. But you will learn your limitations and eventually learn to deal with the array of emotions you feel along the way. I feel pretty normal again. I can still eat too much after one fill, but I understand it may take more fills to get where I want to be. To sum it all up, go forth armed with knowledge. Read the good and the bad and everything in between so you will be prepared and understand what is happening to you. It will help in those times you may be caught up in the emotions. I wish you the best of luck on your journey.

I too have struggled with PCOS and was told that I am darn near infertile. I won't believe it though until I TRY to get preggers. My sister was also diagnosed and told she would not ever conceive but she now has a two year old little boy! MY nephew gives me hope, because according to doctors he should not exist. The weight gain started at about 17 and it came on really fast. I made this decision because my insulin resistance moved into diabetes earlier this year and I want to be healthy and live a long life. As for the cysts, I am used to them. Sure, they hurt but when you are in pain alot of the time, I guess your body's tolerance raises above that level. I hope to live pain free someday and oh yeah have a baby!

Monthly weight loss report & goal for next month
Kami63 replied to bandster_1007's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
weight loss in one month (almost): 8 pounds. Losing but not as much as I would like. November goals= 18 days of excercise. (that would be a lot with one week vacation out of town for Thanksgiving) We can all do this!!! My fill is tomorrow. wish me luck and a little help to reach my goals...LOL -
had my first "stuck" experience today...
Kami63 replied to Saintluver's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
For those of you that have not had the STUCK feeling or have not been banded yet please heed my warning...DO NOT have distraction while you eat! Example: SMALL CHILDREN... I have done this 4 times and I felt like I was going to die! I can no longer eat around my nephew...lol. Please please chew chew chew your food and put your fork down and make sure you don't eat dry chicken or anything else that is DRY for that matter. When your doc advises that you can eat real food again...take baby steps you are essentially re-learning how to eat and I would like to spare you some pain. It has been a while since I got the stuck feeling so I think I have finally learned my limits and what I can and cannot tolerate. Hope this helps! -
I too am still hungry all the time. I eat my protein first, just like the doc said. I have removed most carbs from my diet after I could eat chicken again...lol. (Doing South Beach Diet) I cannot control that I dont have restriction, so I eat the right foods until I am full. As for losing weight, it seems that it takes ALOT of exercise for me to lose weight even while religiously sticking to the doc's plan..LOL So I am just trying to keep my spirits up until I get my fill on 11/15 (not too long now!) Thank heavens it is before my Thanksgiving trip to visit with my family because they are all very big and eat a lot of bad things as I once did. That will be the ultimate test, to resist my Grandmother's holiday cooking! Good luck everyone as we move full force into the holidays! And remember, the food is not worth as much as the looks on people's faces as you shrink before their eyes! Thanks guys for always being there!

THATS AWESOME!! I have been losing too! It is soo great to see the great results we all wanted! Congrats!
-
THat card is awesome!! I got a post op packet from my docs office that is directly from Inamed (the band manufact) It is great. I have used it once and it worked! Also, I feel safer because I put it where my drivers liscence is in my wallet in case of an emergency so they can call my doc!
-
COngrats to you as well! We all need a little well wishing to get through this rough time before fills...LOL SO GOOD LUCK!! I will be fighting hard against the scale and it is sooo nice to have support from others who are in the same situation! THANKS!
-
Congrats!! That was an exciting and scary time for me...LOL My advice would be to make sure you get all of the information you can from your surgeon before the surgery. I feel blessed that most everything I went through, my doc had covered it! Also, don't be shy about calling the doc, that is what they are there for. If you don't know something ASK! GOOD LUCK on your journey!
-
Thats great!! My doc says he has some patients that he NEVER has to fill. I guess it is just your anatomy the band does well with. At any rate, I have had to restrict myself..LOL NO restriction for me, but I am finally at peace with that and went on the South Beach diet like I did preop. Since then I am finally losing! Oh and the exercise probably has something to do with that! LOL My fill is Nov 15th and I can't wait! I am soooo glad I will be filled before Thanksgiving, I can eat almost mormal and wouldnt want to overeat! Family is soo pushy about eating...
-
Thanks! I wanted this really really bad, so i had to lose weight to get it(go figure) The insurance was hell and wanted to see that I was dedicated enough to follow the guidelines!! I showed them!! LOL Thank you for the comment and good luck on your journey as well!! Have you had a fill? Is this why you call it the honey moon phase? Just curious!

MistyDTX, It is soo amaxing how everyone's doc is different! I was released to go to the gym and do the elliptical machine at 10 days out. I can't do the treadmill bc of a bum knee so the elliptical is my choice. I have worked up to 45 minutes every other day. i see my doc again Thursday and he will probable move me to 30 minutes a day then. He said at 3 - 4 weeks I could ride my mountain or road bike again. That is not too far away! I will ask on Thursday. I am actually enjoying this working out thing! I feel better and better everytime I go! Let me say this though. I HAVE to exercise, or I will gain weight. I got to that ravenous stage really early and when I got to solids, I never looked back! So, if I do not excercise I will GAIN weight or stay stagnate. I cant wait for my first fill!! Good luck!:whoo:

My goal was determined by me and my doctor. We discussed what I would like to be and what he would like me to be. We went with what he wants me to be because it is more attainable. I want to be below 156 ideally so we'll see. But for now we will try to get to 170 like my doc wants

I have determined.. Halloween is evil.... LOL
Kami63 replied to abckids's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
My doc said I could have one piece of candy...so I did!! It was wonderful... My doc's guidelines are simple: Don't eat cake Cookies, candie or whatever else on a regular basis. But he also says we have to live as well. So he allows you to have a cookie or a couple of bites of cake or even one piece of candy as long as it is once in a great while. That's ok by me. I can look forward to the special occasions and not feel guilty if I go to a wedding and have a sliver of cake. But daily, I stay away from the evil stuff...LOL:bounce: -
screw em!! screw all the SOB's and b*^ches that ever said anything. You just take care of you and when you are skinny, don;t take the judgemental route like they did. I am allowed to be jealous of anyone I want, but I AM NOT allowed to go around being rude to people for the benefit of my own self esteem. Keep your chin high and one day you will not even look back! Good Luck!

I guess it is ok to be a jerk every now and again, but I didnt mention that I AM excercising! I am following my doc's guidelines to excercise in my stage. I am NOT gaining, but I am not losing either. I started a different approach to eating today. I am literally placing my food in a 1/2 cup measuring cup and only eating that. If I am hungry 30 minutes to an hour later, I will eat something then. So far it is working. Maybe if I can continue in this manner I will see some results! :whoo:

Mine hasnt stopped completely, but my hubby did say that it has improved tremendously! YAY!:clap2:
-
I dont know either how you can eat 1/2 cup of food slow but I do know that I wish I was losing something! I am eating less calories than I did in the preop and I am not losing...it seems so strange...Like a bad joke. The doc asked me if I was eating too many creamed soups...I am not! When I count the calories, I never go over 1000. That number is hard to hit unless I eat out that is. HELP!! Hopefully they will reschedule my first fill for sooner, I wouldnt want to keep gaining
-
My hubby looked at me one day and said wow! you can really tell in your face how much weight you have lost! That was my first nsv! Then my coworkers were making fun of me bc my clothes are too big on me now! But I told them that I was gonna wear them until they fell off!! LOL Melissa

COngratulations!!!! WELCOME TO BAND LAND!!
-
Hello...just wanted to say that everyone's body looses differently. You may be losing inches somewhere other than your waist. That is what has happened to me with about the same amount of wt loss. I have lost most of it up top and now my but looks bigger bc my top is smaller....LOL So keep your chin up, it will all come off sooner or later. As for the gaining weight back, my doctor said it is perfectly natural to gain weight in this period before first fill, BUT he wants us to be proactive and combat it. Once you get to where you are on close to solid food, my Doc wants us to be on the South Beach Diet. Believe me, that diet works, I lost 11 pounds in one week on it during my preop! Also wants us to exercise regularly again...You get the picture. Basically he is saying we have to learn how to use this tool now! Also, it is good just to vent sometimes!!!! I want to say that I am not losing much at all post op and I am still on full liquids and very sof mushies....SO I know how you feel....Good Luck, hope some of this helps! Melissa

BANDED 10/16 and first fill is scheduled on 11/19 but my doc said I could reschedule to the week of the 12th through the 16th so I have time to adjust b4 the holiday...sounds good to me...LOL I am already hungry. I will call Monday and reschedule to that week!
