Good luck guys and gals !
  2. Hi! I liked this article: http://www.webmd.com/diet/weight-loss-surgery/12-questions-to-ask-your-doctor-about-weight-loss-surgery This is your opportunity to interview your surgeon. The best advice I can give is to make sure you love your surgeon. They will have their life in your hands. Good luck
  3. Janice05/23 I am sorry to hear you we're lectured. One of my very first posts on here, someone jumped to a conclusion when they knew nothing about me and felt the need to lecture me.... It s not fun. I did think some of your symptoms though sounded very similar to mine and I was diagnosed with PCOS when I was 22 after being a very active teenager and aging horrible amts of weight very very quickly. And when I eat very little and exercise my tail off I can lose weight.....but I am hungry anyway....good luck on your journey and I will be on the sleeved side soon!

    Good luck to today's sleevers!
  7. I have PCOS and it is possible to lose weight but still very difficult. The sleeve is a tool that can help. I find that with the right food choices and exercise combination, someone with PCOS can lose weight. I have lost 45 pounds on my own but I am constantly hungry all the time with what little I allow myself to eat. I want the added benefit of no hunger from the sleeve to help me. I think eventually the hunger may come back but by then I will hopefully be able to maintain. PCOS is a struggle and I know that I will battle with food and my weight for the rest of my life, so I would like the sleeve to help me in my battle
  8. Yeah I would say this is pretty true. My mom thought that they wrapped your stomach in a sleeve like material. Had to explain the whole surgery and she freaked out in me when I told her they cut most of your stomach out. She's ok now but that was a rough conversation...

Wow! I am so happy for everyone! I can't decide though if the 25th will come fast or slow. May was an incredibly long month for me. Good news is I have a bunch of sleeve siblings to cheer on while I wait

I don't think there is anything wrong with you! The numbers they give you are a conservative average. From what I have seen there are so many people who surpass their surgeon's # that equals success for them. Good luck!
  11. Good luck to your daughter. I too though the bypass is not for me. That is why I chose the sleeve. I think my surgeon only does bands if someone really wants it. I don't think he recommends it. He was not my original surgeon though but I am 100% confident in my new surgeon. That is the only advice I can give on he sleeve, since there is more risk than the band, make sure you are comfortable with your surgeon and he has answered all of your questions. After all surgery is no light decision. Sorry got off on a tangent. I just want to wish your daughter well on her journey.
  12. I have lost 6 pounds in the last 6 weeks which is really good for me. (Since seeing my surgeon about my revision) I have PCOS and have always had trouble losing weight. During the next three weeks, my surgeon's goal is for me to lose 13 pounds about 5% of my current weight. I am scared that even with 100% compliance that I won't be able to lose that amount. The good news is that I have lost 45 pounds in the last year so I am on my way to success...just need to see how much slow losers lost on the 2week liquid preop diet. I also am not planning on doing a bucket list because I only have 3 weeks to go and I don't want to make my liver fatty for my surgeon to have more difficulty. I am already a revision. Thoughts and opinions?
  13. Thanks ladies for the encouragement!
  14. Similar story to all the others so bye bye band on 6/25 ! Going to be sleeved. Bye bye band I won't miss you but you taught me so many things about myself in the last 5 1/2 years and helped me not balloon to 400 lbs. hello sleeve to continue my journey to a healthier me.

I don't think anyone should be hateful. If you have had success with the band then that is awesome however complications are real and they happen to real people even if they were compliant. I knew the complications going in and decided to do it any way. I had mine in almost 6 years ago. About 5 months in I had a dilation that slipped my band and I have had horrible pain ever since. I was fully nailed 3 years ago and that is when I began my battle to get the insurance to approve taking it out. They have denied me two times which is a different topic altogether even though the tests proved there was damage. I am finally approved and scheduled to get it out on 06/25 and even though there could be complications I have chosen to revise to the sleeve. Let me say this though: I DO NOT regret getting the band. I know that if I had not intervened and had the band put in that I would be over 400 lbs by now. The band has forced me to change the way I see and feel about food. That alone is priceless. But I believe everyone's story should be heard whether the band was successful for you or you had complications and people should be supportive to people with both success and complications. Good luck to all

    Is nutrisystem band friendly

I am completely unfilled and do ok with Nutrisystem but a lot of their breakfasts are very dense breads. Even unfilled I cannot eat their honey wheat bagel. Maybe try he custom one where you select things you know you can eat.
  18. Ok I'll have my husband hide the scale! I think I would have less anxiety lol

How exciting! 3 days until you start your journey. Good luck!
  21. People are so mean! I have told a select few at work and I only bring it up if they ask. But they seem to be doing ok with my choice. Hang in there. You may lose relationships but you will be gaining a better quality of life!
  22. I know how you feel. When I talked to my sister about revising to the sleeve she asked some questions and I answered all of them honestly. She then told me that I had said all of the same things before my band surgery and that was an epic fail. That was pretty mean. I thank the band for helping me not get to 400 lbs. she is heavier than me and I almost thnk she is jealous that I am brave enough to get the revision to the sleeve. But I think that people may not accept it until some weight comes off and you are getting healthier! I have to really not care what anyone else thinks... Congrats on being sleeved btw! You are on your way to proving everyone wrong
  23. Congratulations and I am glad all went well! Good luck on your sleever journey
