Expat replied to sleevemeup's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had surgery on a monday morning at 8am and went home tuesday at 1pm. I would have left in the morning if the had taken the fluid iv out. No complications. -

How long with this stall?
Expat replied to nursie026's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I hit a stall every 10 lbs or so, lasts anywhere from 1 to 2 weeks. Just keep working your plan, the weight will come off. I spent 47 years being obese, now I'll spend a couple years getting to my goal, thats not so bad. -
Wow! You sincerly look fantastic. You darn well should be proud!
-
Not even going to happen, bermuda shorts and polo shirts for me this summer.

As a guy I naturally hate shopping, but I just bought a pair of 38w Levi's and was able to fit in them. I haven't wore anything that started with a 3 in 30 years. It was definatly a pleasant suprise. Now I have to let go of my old cloths, which were all expensive and nice, so somebody at the second hand store will definatly get a nice treat.

You wouldn't happen to be from new castle would you?

Tell me about it. I have been reading for months about how the procedures are in the USA and compare them to here(Sweden) and it is like night and day sometimes. I dont mean just the dietary recomendations, but the entire process from the start has some but few simularities. My doctor was from Iceland.

You look like a new person. Fantastic.

Well I'm down 118lbs since starting my pre op diet on August 6th and am thrilled to say the least but I never relised how much that was until yesterday. I'm a chef, have been for 34 years(yes this does make life a little interestring post op). Anyway, I got a delievery yesterday of good American beef( top blade, the cut I use to make roast beef)total delivery weight, 51 kilos or roughly 112lbs. I stood there and stared at this pile of meat a relised that on Aug 6th I had this amount and a bit more hanging on me. I was amazed and appaled at the same time, I wish I had taken a picture but was really to disturbed to think of it at the time.To see all this weight in one pile was sobering but gave me a real sense of what I'v accomplished so far, another 70 lbs to go.

Too funny. you both look great.

Expat replied to R4TNM's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Congrats. Milestones are great. I too am looking forward to just being overweight in another 40lbs. -
congrats on the comming baby. I had my surgery on sept 10 2012 and my 3rd daughter was born on oct 11 2012. I was nicely healed and ready to go. You should be fine.

I had a bit of turkey, 1 bit of stuffing, sweet potatos and cranberry sause. couple hours later a little sliver of pumpkin pie. It is truly amazing to compare what I ate this year compared to the years past. Truth be told I dont miss the volume at all.
-
I just have to look at how much pie is left over to relise that this surgery has probly saved my life.

I have no regrets what so ever. Im 3 and a half mths out from my surgery and down 110 lbs from when I started my liquid diet on Aug 6th. Tuesday this week I sliped and fell at work and banged my left knee up pretty bad, and I can5 imagine how I would have gotten around now with that extra 110lbs I had hanging on me a few mths ago. Congratscon you surgery, hope all was well and a very merry xmass.

100 lbs is a major feat, you should be danm proudd!

So here I am 7 weeks post op, Im loosing steady, excerising regulary, working, have a new baby at home, no pain, havent thrown up even once, feeling good. But, I have absoultly no appitite at all. If I dont set my phone to remind me to eat and snack I never get hungry, I do get dizzy and can feel my blood sugar drop, but even then I have no desire to ea I drink and force myself to eat 3 times a day plus 3 snacks but have a tough time chocking it down. Is this common and if so when does it end. I see my doctor on the 12th of nov next. I guess this really aint a problem since I spent the prior 47 years being hungry.

I was never thin so I dont have anything to miss. Things I dont miss is the pain in my knees and back, hard time sleeping, running out of breath after 1 flight of steeps, eating like a hog and beeing obssed with when my next feeding would be, feeling tired all the time, not beeing able to fit in the clothing I just got a few months ago, feeling and being he biggest person in the room and a host of other things that I dont miss. Im enjoying a new life.

Who Did You Tell Ptior To Your Surgery
Expat replied to glennr's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I pretty much told my family and work mates. My family has been completly supportive and my work mates have been suprisingly supportive in a different way. They have asked questions, smart questions, and been completly non judgemental, plus when I went back after 4 weeks they had got together, passed the hat, and gave me a 200$ gift card for a nice mens store to go celebrate when I get to my goal. People on he edge of my life, you know the ones you see every few months or neighbors you just wave to , I will tell if and when they ask but I dont actively bring up the subject. -
I have been trying to limit my scale time to once a week but today I just couldnt help myself and jumped on, and realized I am down to 128 kilos, that being 281 lbs. I cant remember being that low on the scale. I started on aug 6th at 163 kilos=358 lbs so Im down 77 lbs and my goal is 86 kilos= 190lbs. While its not exactly half way I cant express how flipping happy I am. I would have never dreamed when I started my liquid diet that I would ever get to this point. I really cant get the full effect of how much weight that is until I realised that is about what my 10year old daughter weighs. I lost a small person.

Lets Hear Some Bragging!
Expat replied to kisersassy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Well I'm down 72lbs since the 6th of august and went from 54 waist to a 46 so I'm happy as a lark so far,I'm looking to go down another 116 or so to get to 175, which I think I last weighed when I was 15. Another thing to brag about is my wife lost 12 lbs yesterday as she gave birth to our 3rd daughter, came home with her today, healthy and pink. -
I understand what your going thru, isn't it great. I'm down 64lbs with still more than a 100 to go and things are hanging on me like a tent, so we are going to get a little bit at a time for the comming furture. I am looking forward to Feburary when we are going to Spain for a couple weeks when I can go out and buy new shorts and summer shirts and a swimmimg suit for the trip. So long size 58. I am keeping a couple outfits and suit in the big size just for insperation in the future.

Fantastic. I know I'm looking forward to buying clothing that don't come from the big and tall store.
