Need Some Feedback-- Slow Weight Loss :(

I am feeling disappointed too. I'm only 3 weeks post op but I already feel like I'm stuck at 18 pounds lost. I'm doing all the stuff required except a solid work out where I sweat, but I'm still experiencing a moderate amount of pain. I've even used Spark People to track my calories and protein and I'm usually under 800 calories a day in fact I'm usually around 400 to 500. I almost feel like retreating to the preop liquid diet, I lost 9 pounds in 9 days. It is maybe too soon to expect too much? -

Im post op 2 weeks. Just started purée diet. First day was great, second day I didn't get enough protein and man was I feeling it. I had no energy, was lathargic and generally felt awful. I woke up feeling the same way. Decided to have a super charged protein shake and sure enough, an hour later I was my old self again! I'm just putting this out there....heed the doctors orders to get enough protein. Wow I'm feeling awesome now!!! Hard lesson to learn.

I'm six days post op, making it through the pain, trying to get my protein and fluid in, with all of that plus vitamins I feel like I should have more energy. But I went out for an hour today and came home exhausted. Has anyone else felt with this? When will my energy come back so I can go full force ahead again?

I had to do this too. They want to know if your motivations are correct for the surgery. Do you want to be a barbie doll or get healthy, i basically put down in a nutshell my long history of being overweight, how it affected my quality of life -missing out on opportunities-being called names-decreasing health snd mobility. Also had to write about my own efforts for weight loss and what the results were from those efforts - also include the impact on your self esteem as a result of the failures. Then I had to write about how WLS would improve my life. What were the benefits such as a future with no diabetes, controlled blood pressure - don't forget to include the good stuff like being able to enjoy healthy physical activities, doing things you were afraid to do before. Speak from your heart, you know why you want to do it and it will come through in your writing.

I am also five days post op and have been wondering the exact same thing. The pain killers they prescribed knock me out cold and mess with my dreams so I tried switching to extra strength Tylenol hoping it would take the edge off, problem is it works but not if I have to move around too much which is also no good because we are supposed to walk walk walk when we are awake. This has definitely been one of the biggest struggles so far. I think what I'm hearing is that we should remember we just had major abdominal surgery and to let it take time. That's so hard when you are probably used to going a mile a minute on any regular day. Pain management is something the educational classes should really touch more on pre op.

Thank you everyone for the positive shout outs! -
I'm so excited I'm 2 days away from my surgery date! Having surgery in northern ny! I'm on day seven of my liquid diet and at times I've been weak, but reading the posts here has really kept me motivated. I'm looking forward to stepping into a new life. It has been trying some days, sometimes the hubby does not seem to be so supportive, but I feel a positive change coming so it helps to just stay focused on that. He is a man who enjoys a fluffy woman, but I have explained that my health and my future depends on me losing weight. I am very excited to see a future where I can do more things with my kids like biking, horseback riding, amusement parks. Thank you to all the really positive words from this site, just reading the posts has kept me out of that dark space in my head that's telling me I will fail!
