Ugh! 2.5 months out and now I'm getting statements from my insurance company that I owe close to $6000 because my insurance doesn't cover gastric bypass... however they paid over $40,000 already for my procedure... I've completed and sent in my appeal along with their letter stating they would cover it so now I wait.... has anyone else had this issue? They repeatedly said the only portion I would pay was my deductible...

    Knowing you're full.

I get a hiccup, too. My husband has picked up a lovely habit of yelling FULL when he hears it

My best friend and I went shopping yesterday because I really wanted a cheap winter coat, all of mine needed to be replaced this year but I didn't want to spend the money knowing they weren't going to fit for long and now they look ridiculous. Anyway, I found one at Old Navy that was cute and SUPER cheap, immediately I grabbed the XXL and thought it was perfect... good thing I had her with me because she immediately said NO! Try on a smaller size... I thought she was nuts for a sec but I went ahead and tried on the XL and it fit perfectly! I almost cried!!! 2 1/2 months ago I was a 24 and that was snug.... sometimes I'm thrown off guard when I realize it really is working

    Water & Protein!

It's a struggle! I find on days I work I'm constantly behind on both but on days off I can stay focused. Since it's a huge downfall for me I try to get as much as I can in before I leave for the day. I also realized carrying a small water bottle helps me. Every time I finish one it's a mini victory... Just stay focused and work your way up to it.

That is a good point! I forced myself to back off the scale because seeing a .1 loss was driving me nuts... now I've been stuck gaining and losing the same 3.5 lbs and I want to scream... then I remember how much better clothes are fitting! I know I'm losing inches so I have to count my blessings. Again, without the surgery I never would have dropped over 50lbs this quickly! None of us are going to suddenly wake up at our goal weight so until then at least we have each other for support. We will all get there together!

    Coffee Drinkers

When I realized this morning that I was out of my decaf K-Cups I broke down and went for my old favorite CAFFEINATED FRENCH ROAST My surgeon allows for a cup a day of caffeinated but I haven't had any since preop... I've got to say, I have so much more energy I'm not sure if I'll be able to go back to the decaf... now I just need to up my water intake to compensate for it... might be a little work but its so worth it to not feel like a zombie!

The positive part of having crazy weight fluctuations and being a bit of a pack rat over the past 6 years is that I have about 5 bins of quality basics to use as my weight goes down, just went through them for the second time since surgery and found about 5 pairs of basic pants for work and about 15 tops that fit again ... since I've purged most of what fit before surgery that means I've quadrupled my clothing supply! I think my husband will finally forgive me for taking up so much attic space! At least I'm saving a little money...

1 year anniversary to the new me!

You loom AMAZING! My arms are my biggest fear as far as access skin is concerned, yours are AWESOME! CONGRATS TO YOU!
  11. Its funny how smaller water bottles go so much easier for me... for example I have a big 48oz one that I can barely get through half of in a day but if I carry my small 16oz bottle I refill it at least 2x a day without even thinking about it... I know it's a weird mental thing but it makes hitting the goal seem much more obtainable

    Restaurants & Eating Out

I'm 8 weeks out and luckily if my husband wants to go out to eat I've been able to talk him into going somewhere that has crab legs... they have become my go to and typically he will just add them to his order... they take awhile to eat so it's also good to slow my eating down.

    Coffee Drinkers

I use decaf Click protein mixed with one cup decaf coffee and a splash if sugar free torani syrup as my breakfast every morning. Before surgery I the only thing I would have in the mornings were coffee and its helped me feel "normal" post op :-)
  14. It will come faster then you think! Who is your surgeon? I had mine on Nov. 30th in Mason City with Dr. Ver Steeg but I live in Waterloo...

    Not Losing....

I am 6 weeks out and went through the same thing when I hit my 3rd week... at that point I had to focus on my water intake and change up what I was doing for exercise... also try to spike your protein intake. Even though you are feeling better you need to remember your insides are still in a bit of shock. The weight will start to come off again. Stay away from the scale for a few days and focus on staying positive. It will happen as long as you work the tool.

    blender products suggestions

I started with a magic bullet and within a few weeks was frustrated with the thing... I like a lot of ice and it couldn't keep up. For Christmas I received a Vitamix and I'm completely in LOVE!!! It's amazing! Actually in the past 3 years I've gone through 2 blenders... I love smoothies and this thing blows away anything I've ever had. Yes its expensive and yes its tall but it is a lifesaver!

I went in for a follow up visit with my surgeon today and going in I was feeling like I wasn't doing enough... then he came in the room beaming ear to ear as he read my current stats and said he couldn't be happier and to keep it up! Even better, when he checked my incisions he commented on how well my skin was tightening up! I couldn't ask for a more caring and genuine doctor!!! I guess it goes to show we beat ourselves up when we don't hit our goal weight 6 weeks out Patience has never been a virtue I've excelled at... so to everyone out there questioning their own progress just know we can do this! Its going just going to take time...
  21. I was doing so well the first few weeks and then I went back to work. My days are long and always busy so I've completely fallen off of my food and water goals... It's so frustrating and every attempt I've made to try to force myself to keep on track have failed. I'm so frustrated I can't even explain it... Top it off, I'm constantly freezing and some amazing mood swings and even I'll say I'm not much fun to be around. I just keep telling myself I have to start fresh the next day... It's going to get better, right???

Does anyone as feel like their head is just constantly messing with them? I have these moments when I seriously think ok... I'm probably going to stop losing anymore weight... I should accept it now.... I'm 2 weeks post op.... I know its just my mind and I just keep reminding myself that I've got this... I just have to stick to the plan.....

    MetLife

Does anyone have short term disability coverage through MetLife because of their employer? I'm having issues getting my claim approved before I would need to go back to work if it is not approved... Does that make any sense? My return to work date is December 14th (2 weeks post op) but I'm not sure I'm going to be up for it. MetLife is reviewing my claim in approving it on the 21st... After speaking to a rep today she said there's no way to adjust that. Not sure what to do...
