    Banded teachers

Hi all! I have been pre-plotting my school year as well - I have 30 minutes for lunch so will plan on eating in my room - and nothing too earth shattering - I was just banded 7/17. I have no breaks in the a.m. from 8:10 - 11:20 so will have to be careful what I drink in advance. Hopefully I'll have a para in there during part of the time so I can make a quick escape if needed.

Lucky # Sevens- July 07 Bandsters

My surgery is this Tuesday - here I was so excited to have it so quickly, but now am having a hard time sleeping at night because I'm getting so nervous! Tonight is the last night I'll sleep in my bed before leaving for surgery...just getting awfully real. Thanks for letting me vent!

I loved this post - I think I'm "nesting" as well - feel like I did before I had my daughter!

How fun! I have a Heritage Softail - 2003 - love it. I took a class about 5 years ago - I'm wanting to take the advanced course they offer around here. It's cool that you and your sister are being banded together - my good friend and I planned on that, but her insurance is making her jump through too many hoops so she's behind me a ways. Good Luck!

That sounds SO GOOD! I hadn't even thought about refried beans - YUM! I might try them even though I haven't gotten my band yet! I'll definitely write that one down! THANKS!

Hi! I'm Kim from Kansas...I am a new teacher (2nd year) - worked in business and finance previous to teaching - now I'm actually happy in what I do . I'm married to a WONDERFUL hubby - I have one daughter, almost 16, and my husband has 3 kids. I also have Boy Kitty the wonder cat - I bottle fed him as he was abandoned by his momma. I love reading, cooking (uh-oh), traveling, and riding my Harley. Just went on a "chicks" ride with 24 other riders - had a blast!

Hi - getting ready for surgery this coming Tuesday a.m., and have seen a lot of things listed that everyone has done/tried to make the process easier. If you had to list essentials for a "survival kit" what would they be? I saw someone mention Gas-X strips - do they help? Advil vs. Tylenol - my Dr. told me no more Advil as well, just Tylenol. I guess my hubby and daughter will have to take my stash of Advil. Anyway - you hints would be GREATLY appreciated - I'm shopping this weekend so I'll have everything on hand - I live in a pretty rural area - closest WalMart is 30 miles away. Thanks!!!!

I took a Spanish for educators class, and have seen them specifically geared towards medical personnel. Kind of fun...

There is a series called "Destinos" by Van Patten on learning Spanish - it's a free video series I think on PBS web-site - you could probably do a search - there is a book to go along with, not sure of the cost of it. I am studying English for Speakers of Other Languages and my Linguistics teacher swears by Destinos.

:help:Just curious what kind of Protein powder you are using to mix in with various liquids/foods? Also - what kind of Protein shakes? Are the SlimFast Optima (extra protein) o.k.? Also...kind of a gross question :speechles, but one I've been wondering about - if you do vomit, do you just vomit the "stuff" from the pouch, or does "stuff" from the rest of your stomach get forced through the band as well? Forgot to ask my Dr. that one...yuck... Muchas Gracias!

Hi all! New here as well - just got the call informing me that my surgery is scheduled for July 17th at 7:30 a.m.! Pretty exciting, although a little nervewracking. It is SO nice to be able to read the posts from those of us waiting to be banded and especially those of you kind enough to share your experiences since being banded. Thanks!

    7/17/07 Surgery Date!

My doctor told me to go on a "mini-diet" so that's what I'm attempting now - at least there are a lot of fresh veggies and fruit this time of year...but it's not a lot of fun - just too hungry all of the time! I do full clear liquids 24 hours before surgery, so guess I'll get a taste of the liquid life soon enough!
