Hey all, So last Monday I made a decision to go vegetarian. It was based mainly on the fact that meat is too heavy in my stomach when I eat it. And it seems the further out I get, the more things I find upset my stomach. That being said, I don't miss meat as much as I thought I would. It turns out there are still things to eat in this world that have protein and aren't meat. I particularly like veggie patch "chickn" cutlets because they taste like chicken nuggets. Also smart life makes portobello burgers that are good. Has anyone else gone this route? If so I would like to hear what you eat so I can have a better idea. I'll tell you one thing... The numbers have been flying down the scale since I stopped eating meat.

Hey all, I don't really post on here too much unless its to contribute to ongoing threads. However yesterday was one of the best days I have had in years. It was a day just like any other but what changed is how I feel about myself. I am 3 1/2 months out and I have lost 70 pounds. Yesterday I decided that my clothes were falling off me and I needed to buy new ones. Then I started looking through some old clothes just to see if I could save some money. I fit in to 80% of the things I found! Some things I haven't worn since high school. I went from a size 26/28 to a size 20 in 3 months. So at this point I just broke down and cried. I cried because I was so happy, but also because I was so confused. When I look in the mirror I still see that 300 pound mess of a person that I was. Occasionally I'll get a glimpse of the new me. Does this happen to anyone else? And more importantly, does it ever go away? I want to see the real me all the time, not who I was. I'm glad I have all of you to share experiences with because normal people can't even begin to understand what we've been through. Have a great day everyone.

Here are my recommendations: For multivitamin I use the bariatric support vitamin that the vitamin shoppe (I hope there's one near you) has to offer. It is made by twinlab. For calcium and vitamin D I use Viactiv caramel soft chews. There is some sugar in these chews just FYI. Caltrate also makes chews with slightly less sugar but IMO they aren't as tasty ( vanilla flavor is best). I get my B12 from a once a month injection I do at home ( you need a script from your doc). There are also some good B12 products at the vitamin shoppe or a website called bariatric choice. Good luck on your journey!

New To The Group Hello Everyone!

Welcome! I hope your surgery goes great. And just remember that we can be your support when your family just won't be. -
I use pure protein shakes to supplement my protein intake. These shakes have 35g of protein each.

I am not stalled per se but the weight is coming off so slowly now. I am losing a couple pounds per week. It's very frustrating when your eating next to nothing and exercising almost everyday. Ive been making sure to have a Protein shake daily though, cause I think that's really important to keeping up with nutrients and losing the weight. Good luck I hope it starts coming off again.

Thanks everyone!

Good luck! I hope bypass works out better for you. I had my surgery at the end of July and I've lost 40 pounds so far. Don't get discouraged if you plateau though, it happened to me and then all the sudden I started losing again. I found that for me night eating is my huge downfall. Nothing passes my lips after 8pm now. Exercise also makes a huge difference.

Hi Derrick, I had trouble with the 1st 2 weeks too. It was hard to drink enough and I ended back in the hospital too for dehydration. Just keep at it... Remember that having enough fluids is key. For me I can get away with about 50 oz per day give or take. I don't have advice about the purée stage cause that wasn't how my doc did it. I however can't have simple carbs until I reach my goal weight... Bummers lol

I'm new to this app and I just wanted to introduce myself. My name is Kai and I had bypass at the end of July. I've lost 40 pounds so far... I don't really know if that's normal or not. I look forward to talking with you all... Support is an awesome thing to have.
