I'm about 99.9% sure I have a leak in my band When I went for my 3rd fill last Friday, (from 1.5 to 3.0 cc's total) He did not pull any Fluid back out. He said he was not that concerned about it, because I was still feeling some restriction and I'm still losing...I've lost almost 40 lbs since Feb 15th surgery. Well.....I can't tell a BIT of difference since my fill on Friday and today (Memorial day) I ate a hamburger AND a hotdog! I'm sooo ashamed of myself, but I should NOT have been able to handle that! Not will 3 ccs!!!!! What do you all think? If I do have a leak, what is it going to cost me to have it repaired/replaced?! HELPPPP!!!!!!!!!!

My doc didn't say so I ate a normal lunch before and I was fine. I also didn't have to go on liquids after my fill. I was just careful.

Less than an hour.

10 cm. Correct me if i'm wrong, but a 10 cm band holds 4ccs? i SHOULD be at 3ccs right now. The thing that confuses me is that i had so much restriction before...if i have to have another surgery, how much will it cost me? will inamed pay for the surgery if it's a malfunction in the band?

Boost is pretty good. Don't forget Jello, broth, crystal light (the to-go cl are great with bottled water!) After a week or so when I was just sick and tired of broth, I blended some chicken noodle Soup and some chili. It was fan-double-tastic! I also had egg drop soup and put small crumbles of the crunchy noodles in there just for a little texture...listen to your body and don't overdo it! You'll do great! Good luck! Shan

Honey, I am 3 1/2 months out and I have lost 40 lbs...I am not dieting at all. I'm like you...if we were good at dieting, we wouldn't have had to have the band! I think the feeling of depriving yourself is worse than having the food. I eat what I want, just way less of it, and I am more conscious of what I eat. I have the "want to" to eat healthier foods now. As you lose weight, you get more motivated. The way I see it, the band is your tool. USE it. Diets don't work, most of the time, in my opinion. Just work hard to make healthier choices, but don't diet, in my opinion. I may get blasted for this post, but I consider 40 lbs in 3 months to be fairly successful. Shan

Hey jrowell! Congrats on your upcoming surgery! That is my son's 3rd birthday! Dr Miles is at MCE, isn't he? Or is he at Carraway? I don't know. ?? Anyway, I'm so glad that you have made the decision to go ahead and do this...I don't think you'll regret it! This is my experience.... http://www.obesityhelp.com/morbidobesity/profile.phtml?N=L1096003282 If you'll go to my picturetrail, you'll see pics of my incisions and stuff. They actually started looking REALLY good in the last couple of days...I'll try to update it in just a minute. http://www.picturetrail.com/gallery/view?ShannonLayton Good Luck! SHANNON! 241/217 PS-We should get an Alabama lap-band group outing soon! I know of 2 other people who have had this done! That would be fun! Yay!

Hey OGB! I LOVED Dr Clements! He and his staff are so friendly and helpful. I wouldn't change my decision to go with him for a million bucks! I would totally recommend him to anyone. He now does lap band outpatient and my friend Denise (from Bham) was just his first outpatient surgery on March 14. She did great and I think it cost her about $11,000. I'm so happy that this is catching on in Alabama. It's (in my opinion) such a better option that bypass! (Not downing anyone with bypass!) If you need to talk or ask any questions, feel free to email me! smlayton@charter.net Good luck! Shannon 241/217
