I should specify- Isopure makes many different protein drinks. The one I had the problem with was the Zero Carb that comes in a glass bottle and looks like juice. -
Isopure For Post Op Clear Liquid Diet?
cwctx replied to bakawaka's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My doctor reccomend this also. I tried it and it did not sit well at all. I have only thrown up once and it was when I drank the Isopure clear. But, everyone is different and reacts in their own way. You may have no problem. -
I had my RNY on 11/5 and after a rough start things are now going well. However,my lower abdomen, especially the area of my left "love handle" is very swollen still. It's uncomfortable and makes it awful to try wear jeans or slacks. How long does it usually take for this to resolve? Also, I am still having to sleep in a reclining chair because it is uncomfortable to lay down, even with lots of pillows. Anyone else have this problem?

Nope, incisions are good, and no fever. Just swollen and uncomfortable.

What Was Your Biggest Misconception About Surgery?
cwctx replied to hajones5891's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I thought he surgery would be easy. Little pain and a quick recovery. I ended up being I the hospital for a 6 days and had a horrible time. Also, I have been having panic attacks which I have never had before. But....it is getting better every day! I went to the doctor today had my staples and drain removed which made me feel much better. I think my biggest mistake was listening to friends I know who have also had rny. I was thinking because it was easy for them it would be for me too. Each person is different and our bodies all react differently. -
Had my surgery io Monday and my recovery has been ok. I was released from the hospital yesterday afternoon and felt fine when I got home and for the rest of the evening. I continued to sip water and the Isopure Zeo Carb thin protein drink my dr. reccomended. I also drank this in the hospital. I went to bed feeling fine but woke up at about 3 am and was extremely nauseated. I got up and walked which helped to pass some gas and I felt a bit better. About 30 minutes later I felt the strong urge to vomit. I almost didnt make it to the bathroom fast enough. What came up looked like the Isopure I had drank earlier. I have remained nauseated all day today and the only thing I can tolerate sipping is water. The nausea meds the dr. sent me home with arent helping at all. Is this just something that happens? Or should I be concerned and call the dr?

I called the dr. and his nurse called in some suppositories for me. I used one earlier and it helped slightly. I can use another at 7 this evening. I am praying for a better day tomorrow.

My surgery is scheduled for 5:30 A.M. tomorrow. I have to be at the hospital at 3:30 A.M. I am glad it is that early beacuse I know I will not get any sleep tonight and I will be ready to get it over with. This all seems a bit surreal! I've been planning this since the first of the year and it is finally here. Nervous and excited all at the same time!

After 8 months of preparation I finally have a surgery date, November 5! I finalized all of my final appointments with my doctor's office today. Something surprised me though. I was not aware that I was going to have to have an EGD (scope down the esophagus) prior to surgery. Until today this had never been mentioned. It's not a big deal, I just wanted to know if most of you guys are having to do this also?

I feel better about it now. At this point I am so ready to have my surgery if the doctor said I had to crawl aross hot coals with no clothes on, I would do it! Thanks guys!
