You look fantastic! Congrats!

I started out in the beginning with just walking 20 -30 minutes a day. I now work out at least 5 days a week, 30 minutes of cardio and usually an hour of strength training. I used to hate exercise, but as I have gotten smaller, working out has gotten so much easier. I actually look forward to going to the gym now!

Having RNY is the best thing I have ever done for myself! 6 months out and I have gone from 330 to 190 and still losing every week. 30 pounds away from my goal of 160. My only regret is that I did not have this surgery 10 years ago!

Be realistic in expecting how you will feel after surgery. I wasn't. I had convinced myself that it would be a breeze and I wouldn't have much pain. Truth is that this is a very painful surgery. But, with pain meds of course it is tolerable. As others have said expect nausea and some vomiting. The first two weeks I felt like total crap. But then I started feeling much better! I promise you once you get past the first couple of weeks if you do what your dr. says and eat appropriately the weight will be coming off and you will start feeling great! I had surgery on 11/5 and have lost 54 pounds. I am feeling great and KNOW having this surgery is the best decision I have ever made! -
I thought I would be fine by myself but I ended up needing help for a few days. Also, for me it was an emotional time and it was nice to have someone there to talk to and offer support.

Who is your doctor? What hospital are/have you used?
cwctx replied to JustFluffy's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
I used Dr. David Kim in Colleyville, Texas and had surgery at Forest Park Hospital in Dallas. I can't say enough good things about both! -
I've tried a few and the Ranch Mayo is not bad. It doesn't taste just like ranch dressing, but for zero calories what can you expect? I will say that the chipotle mayo was awful!

I ended up in the hospital with dehydration issues. Remember to sip sip sip it will make a huge difference in the way you feel. I am 7 weeks post op and finally last week I really began to feel back to normal and have a good energy level. Hang in there it will get better before you know it!

I was having a really bad problem with constipation. At my 6 week follow up my dr. said to take 2 colace and one dose of Miralax each day and to continue to take it until I became regular. I did it for 6 days and have been regular and had no more problems.

Same thing happens to me. The one thing that seems to consistently bother me is chicken.

Pepto has salicylates in it that are similar to aspirin. My doctor said not to take it for that reason. Maalox, Mylanta, and Tums are ok.

Hang in there! This journey is not easy and we all obviously have had food issues and those just don't go away. Focus on the success you have had thus far and commit to making good food choices. You got this!! -
I walk between 30-45 minutes 5 days a week. My doctor says no strenuous exercise for 8 weeks following surgery.

Need Some Encouragement (This Is Going To Be Long)
cwctx replied to Vicki Loichinger's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Saying a prayer that everything will be ok and you will have your surgery as scheduled. Hang in there I can't imagine how stressful this must all be. You have lots of folks here pulling for you, me included! -
A Week Post-Op And Feeling Great
cwctx replied to emiller2012's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had some complications too and they definitely added to my fear. I was in the hospital the whole first week after I had my surgery on a Monday. When I came home on Sunday I was so nervous and fearful. That lasted about a week and then went away. Hang in there it definitely gets better. Next Wednesday will be my one month surgiversry and I feel GREAT now! -
I use Celebrate multi complete chewable with iron. It has 36mg per serving. Celebrate also makes a chewable iron that has 60mg in each tablet. I buy my Celebrate vitamins on Amazon. They are less expensive than buying from the Celebrate website.

Getting Up And Down Post Op
cwctx replied to snow25's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was sore and had a drain for a week which didn't help much with mobility. I was not comfortable in bed at all and slept in a recliner for the first two weeks. -
I took two weeks off and needed every bit of it, and I have a desk job.

Today marks two weeks since my surgery. It was rough in the beginning but each day really has gotten better. In the first week I thought many times that I should not have done this. I just knew I had ruined my life. My attitude has improved as I have began to feel better. I am getting in all my fluid and protein with no problem and am feeling more like myself all the time. This morning I stepped on the scale for the first time since my surgery. I have lost 32 pounds in two weeks! On my DOS I weighed 330 and today I am at 298. It has been a LONG time since I have seen a 2 at the beginning of my weight. I know I have made the right decision for myself and I am so excited to see where this journey leads!

I am glad you feel more confident! Just remember that first week will probably suck. It sure did for me and I wasn't expecting that which made it even harder. Just remember it gets better quickly!
