Well it's an awfully good thing that my husband is on here too because he understands why I am neglecting him at night when we get home. He's trying to watch tv or something with me, but I've got the lap top on and I am just typing away, and it's not homework.

haha, Well I was supposed to be getting ready for work this morning, but kept putting it off because I wasn't done reading some threads.

Thank you! We are VERY lucky to be going through this together. We are definitely counting our blessings It enables us to cook only 1 meal, that we both will be eating, vs having to cook everyone else something different and not having those temptations in the house. Thank you everyone for the kind words! I definitely love it on here. A tad addicted though.

October Surgery Dates
Jordan Bee replied to Immagetitdown12's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Me too!!!!!! I am hoping to submit this week. Everything is in except for the "recommendation" letter from my PCP even though they already have all of his notes and weights and bla bla bla. I called his office today to light a fire under him, reminding him that it is the ONLY thing that we are waiting on to submit. I AM SO ANXIOUS!!!!!! -
Protein Drinks And Shakes, What Ones Are Good?
Jordan Bee replied to NurseTAB's topic in Food and Nutrition
We actually bought some whey protein isolate from vitamin world last night and blended it with ice, skim milk, and frozen strawberries. It was really good. As for the syntrax, our grocery store carries it in the organic food section. -
October Surgery Dates

I too have that plantar fascitis. I've had a good handle on it lately though with wearing good shoes and inserts. It's a huge pain and horrible when you can't take control over it, because no matter what you do, your feet just ache. Good luck and hopefully you can find something that works for you! Even without going to the doctor for it, Dr Scholls has that foot mapping thing at Wal Mart and they can recommend insoles for you-they are expensive, 50 bucks, but they really do work out pretty well. -
Wow! That is fantastic! We have met our deductible for the year, but there is also an out of pocket maximum which we have no way met yet. But as long as we both get our surgeries in before the end of the year, then it will be a lot cheaper because we will hit that oop maximum. **Hopefully we will get them at the end of October. Just waiting to get everything submitted now and then get our approvals!**

October Surgery Dates
Jordan Bee replied to Immagetitdown12's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I am definitely with you, ladies. I can't wait to get rid of my CPAP, fit in clothes that I actually LIKE vs clothes that "fit". And I want to ride roller coasters until I puke. haha. I know it sounds bad, but I used to be a roller coaster junkie and my husband and I both want to go for a whole weekend and just ride roller coasters once we get our weight off. We also want to pick up kayaking. We already love to camp and go hiking, but I can't wait to be able to enjoy it that much more. can't wait to get my HEALTH BACK! -
Ok. We have BCBS Federal. They do cover it, but at 85/15. So it's going to cost a pretty penny still. But it will be worth it!!Thank you for sharing and good luck to you, too!

Welcome! I am new to this site too; just joined last week. But I am loving it here! I have found so much great information, and a wonderful sense of community. If you have any questions, these are definitely the people to ask-they are the ones that have already lived through it! -
Pcos And Gastric Bypass
Jordan Bee replied to starrnhuff's topic in Pregnancy with Weight Loss Surgery
I am still pre-op so I can't answer that question. But I can relate. I was diagnosed with PCOS at 19. My husband and I have wanted to have children for so long but with my PCOS and complete lack of ovulating, that was making it impossible. I have really struggled with infertility and had a lot of emotional nights crying about it because I want children so bad. I am hoping and praying that after surgery and losing the weight, that I can experience parenthood for myself someday. But anyway, good luck to you! And a huge congratulations to you on your success thus far!! -
That is fantastic!! May I ask what kind of insurance do you have? My husband and I started our 3 month period of supervised dieting and such June 1st and we did our last weigh in for that a week ago. We also did our nutritional counseling and psych eval. Now we are just waiting for everyone to compile their notes together so they can submit it all to insurance for approval and then we can schedule our surgery date! I am anxiously awaiting! We are hoping that we can do surgery before the end of the year yet. Should hopefully be within the next 2 months. Good luck and I am glad that we can all go through this journey together! I just found this board a week ago and LOVE the community here!

I have seen those pillows! They are very expensive. I have found that those little neck pillows that people travel with, I use on top of my regular pillow and can lay easier with that on my side because the hose for the mask kind of hangs off the edge and isn't smooshed into my face by the pillow. Hope that made sense.

Protein Drinks And Shakes, What Ones Are Good?
Jordan Bee replied to NurseTAB's topic in Food and Nutrition
They are pretty good. My WLS center actually sells sample packs of them which is really nice. The mint Cookies and cream one was my favorite, but they also have a mocha one that if you put with ice, tastes like iced coffee. I bet a little bit of decaf coffee mixed in would be good too. haven't tried that though so don't quote me on it. =) -

Congratulations!! I work in health care, too, and although I haven't had my surgery yet, I have been losing weight on my pre-op diet, and know that once I am down to goal, working will be so much easier and will give so much more joy because I will be able to get around better. Good luck on your new position! -
I did buy a chin strap, and that does seem to help keep my mouth closed. I am REALLY hoping that after I lose my weight that I won't have to have it anymore. I also am a side sleeper and that doesn't seem to help matters much, either.

Thank you everyone! It truly is wonderful to be able to go through this with my husband because we have a built in support system at home. This site is wonderful! I have already learned a lot and enjoy reading about all of your journeys. Good luck to everyone and congratulations to those who are feeling and looking great and achieving their goals!

No, nit as much anyway. Sleeve pts should still take supplements but they aren't as crucial as they are for bypass pts. Sleeve works more restrictive whereas bypass is restrictive and malabsorptive.

I too have PCOS. Was diagnosed 5 years ago when my husband and I were looking into why we couldn't get pregnant. Been a long, hard road ever since. We finally decided to just quit trying. When we started looking into WLS we were told that losing the weight could actually end up bringing our fertility back. We are still pre-op but have been doing the pre-op diet and I have already noticed a change in my periods. They are actually occurring and on an actual cycle! So we will see what happens! =)

In the sleeve, they just remove part of the stomach completely. They do not experience some of the same things like with RNY, such as not having dumping syndrome and their stomachs hold slightly more than RNY pouches.

You looked great! And you guys are a really cute couple

Question About Your Wls Journey
Jordan Bee replied to katiebug12's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had my first appointment at the very beginning of June and just finished up my waiting requirements for the insurance last night. So as soon as they all get their paperwork together, off to the insurance company it goes!! I am hoping that I can have surgery like the end of October but i will at least settle by the end of the year since I've already met deductibles. -
I was recently diagnosed with sleep apnea. Just about 6 weeks ago. I do wear my cpap and use the nose pillow mask. I have had a hard time adjusting to it though! I still feel tired everyday but not as much I guess.

Good luck!! I know I am about to play that waiting game myself. Everything should be submitted this week. And I am already quite the nervous Nelly, so I am sure I am going to be worried sick hoping to get that green light of approval. I hope things work out for you!
