Hey everyone, I'm 3 mo. post op, having awful pain around my belly button, mostly right below and a burning pain in my right lower back, its like a sharp cramping in front but constant. Thought it was constipation but its not been that long since I went. I don't have a gallbladder, wondering what this could be, don't want to head to the local ER, as my RNY was at a hospital 45 min away. Any ideas?

Thank you jildeville for commenting, much appreciated. I was finally able to fall asleep and woke this morning without pain. Very odd. Thank you again. Kerrie

10 Wk Post Op Question
Kerrie-Ann replied to jpr99's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Ok so I'm 10 weeks post op right now and I can tell you with confidence given that I've been on more than 10 cruises that you will have no problem with food being available. It's restricting yourself that's key at this stage. I can tell you that everything I currently eat can easily be found on board, as long as your not cruising Costa, and I so hope your not. I would however do a few things prior to departing. Firstly, I would get some of the Unjury chicken soup/broth, it's an easy 20 g's of protein. Additionally you may want to find a premade/prepackaged shake that works with your body. Take it ow, remember to drink lots of fluid. Also 10 weeks is still considered "post-op" and you will still be recovering...therefore I suggest you stop and sanitize as much as you can. The last thing you need is to get some crazy flu bug that will cause you a whole lot of unwelcome issues. Take it easy and remember to try new things only one at a time.. Good luck and I hope this helps, hope your surgery and recovery are easy and your cruise is enjoyable. -

What Was Your Biggest Misconception About Surgery?

I'm sorry you didn't like my post, I don't think I need to "calm down" though, I don't feel excited at all..just defeated. I'm getting in all my protein, fluids, and vitamins. I don't smoke or drink (though at times i sure wish i did) have no weird intake of something that would cause me to not loose weight. I don't wish this on anyone. And ya know what? I can bet that you aren't 3 months post op with a loss of only 22lbs... -
Surgery Thursday ! Ahhhhhh!

Yes, I'd plan on 5 days. The pain is similar to the RNY, but not so bad. The gas was the worst for me. -
What Was Your Biggest Misconception About Surgery?
Kerrie-Ann replied to hajones5891's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I never expected to have to do this in my life! This was a last resort for me...and I'm sadly disappointed. I'm never ever hungry and if not eating didn't make me feel so crappy, I'd skip food all together. Never thought I'd literally HATE eating. When I do eat I can consume so little that there is no room at all for tasty veggies, only protein. When I do eat, nothing feels right in my pouch and all I want to do is vomit. It's been 3 months and I've only lost 22 lbs..this I could have and did many many times without RNY and when I could eat veggies. Sorry to be a Debbie-downer but I think prospective RNY people need to see all the angles. I never took the time to read any feedback from anywhere prior to my decision to have this surgery and I so wish I had. I'm seeing my doctor on the 29th of November. I'm certain there is nothing wrong, just like everything else...It's just not for me and I'm destined to be 200 lbs for the rest of my life. -

Hey Cjoyce, how is your husband? -

No, Music I'm still trying to fit into the same pair of jeans. At this point I'm not even going to attempt to get into them. I'm so frustrated.

I meant three months ago!

Thanks, I just don't get it. Here I take a risk and go through this huge life changing procedure and OF COURSE it's not working for me. I'm so totally annoyed. My surgery was 8/27 that was 2 months ago and inhave only lost 22 lbs. there are people on here who have lost triple that in the same amount of time. I just wish for once, just one time, SOMETHINH would be easy. Guess its just not going to be that way for me. I am getting in all of my Protein, plenty of Water and excersizing....enough already!!'

So I'm 9 weeks post op and NOT doing well at all. I can honestly say that I might get in 30 g's of Protein a day...and that's on the high side. Every time I try to eat actual food, I vomit. If I try a Protein shake, I get the runs. The one and only thing that I eat that stays with me is yogurt and Water. I have zero energy! I used to be able to complete an hour long cardio-Kickboxing class and walk 4-5 miles a day, even jog some of it. Now, I can barely walk 2 miles and the cardio? Forget it!! It takes every ounce of my energy just to maintain a tidy home...and that even takes 10x longer that it used to. Vitamins? Haven't been able to keep those down since week 4 when the vomiting started. Thankfully, I'm able to take Biotin so my hair hasn't ALL fallen out...YET! What I'm looking for here is something easy to ingest that isn't chalky or nasty tasting (I have a quick draw gag reflex). I obviously need something as high in protein as I can get. Any and all suggestions very much appreciated. THANK YOU IN ADVANCE =D Surgery: Band to RNY 8/27/12 Weight loss only 20 lbs.

Please remember that every doctor and nutritionist reccomendations will be different. I was told zero carbs forever! No carbs no bread, no Pasta no crackers. However, I understand they are soggy and I too would try them...and did. They didn't sit well in my stomach and came right back up. Everything is trial and error at this point. Hope this helps...good luck.

Nursie026 & Stephanie, Yes it does get easier. But it only remains that way if you follow your prescribed plan. I'm telling you this because I did not. I don't know what I was thinking but it was like I was trying to sabotage my surgery. I'm 9+ weeks post op and have only lost 28 lbs. I've had to go back to the beginning, back to liquids and on to puréed food because I just tried to do it my way and eat whatever I wanted. Don't be stupid like me, follow the plan and the reccomended foods, don't drink until 1 hour after eating and take your time on the excersize, remember you body has gone through a major surgery and healing takes a lot of time. Go slow, and please don't be afraid to reach out and PM me or other members. No question is a stupid question. Good luck, Kerrie-Ann

It's not easy that's for certain! I guess I just got sick of being exhausted all the time. I knew from the beginning that I was supposed to be getting in 60+ grams a day, and I always had that in the back of my mind, but I never really worked at it. All I knew was that I totally hate to eat, and nothing besides Water felt good in my pouch.decipher week sometime I decided enough was enough. That and I gained 4 lbs without eating =[ So I got a planner type book and wrote out everything I was supposed to be getting in, including regular Vitamins, Biotin and excersize. Each day I am adding a meal or a snack, and someday I'll reach 60+ grams. I had to go back to basics, start with liquid then pureed food.. I guess I just realized I was wasting time. I had to seriously think about why/what/when I was eating too. I was way off track in my thinking and went back and re-read all my meal plans. I'm having to realize that even in smaller doses some of the food I was eating was making me sick. And each time I get sick, that food item goes on the "no-no list". Like last night, I tried to have a turkey hotdog. For some reason, even though I cut is so skinny my stomach totally rejected it...on the list it went. Good luck and please feel free to PM me if you have questions.

Yes, I'm just going to keep talking to myself, it's all good, I'm a pretty fun person to talk to =D. So it's 8:33 am and I've already gotten 16 g's of protein in...woo hoo go ME! Gearing up for some reading, a nap and then 45 min. on the elliptical!

It's 2:25 and I'm over 30 now...I might make it to 50+ today!!!
-
Great news!! Yesterday I managed to get in 38 grams of protein. And for today...it's only 8:25 am and I've already taken in 12 grams. It's going to be a day in the 40 g's for me....also, I just ordered the Unjury chicken soup. I decided in the afternoon yesterday to go back to the puréed stage. It went well, I had acorn squash and oven roasted turkey. The food stayed down and I didn't have to race to the bathroom. I'm going to stick with the puréed foods for now, ever so slowly add in the solids...wish me luck.

Thanks all if you, I appreciate the support.
