diet and cheating
becky42 replied to andreerichards1's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm scheduled for 7/30/07 and have cheated like crazy! I don't know why it's so impossible for me to stay on the liquid diet, but then again I wouldn't need a lapband if I were able to have such willpower. I'm thinking I'm not going to tell my doc - just do the best I can between now and then. COMMENTS??? -
I am scheduled for 7/30/07 and am really scared of being cancelled. I had a two week pre-op diet and just can't manage to stay on it. I am so embarrassed, but I simply can't do it. Hopefully I won't get cancelled.

Does everyone who loses 75+ lbs need plastic surgery?
becky42 replied to kero's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Do you think protein intake has anything to do with whether or not people have hanging skin? Just wondering - I know my doctor said that extra protein will keep gastric bypass patients from losing too much hair. -
Weight Lost on Liquids...
becky42 replied to PigsRFlying's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm having a difficult time on my two week diet. I had two do two slim fasts and one frozen entree last week and this week all liquids. My surgery is scheduled for a week from today and I've cheated every single day. It's really tough. I'm going to try my very best to stay with it this week - I really have no choice. Georgia Girl you're in my favorite city in the world! I go to Tybee Island once a year and just love Savannah. -
Don & Jacqui. My doctor is at Baptist, Dr. Lynch. Is Dr. Morton moving there? Just curious. I really like the office staff there - they got mine approved within one month. I'm having my lapband 7/30/07 - getting very nervous and I have also cheated on the two week diet. I fessed up today and they said just do as good as I can this week. How weak, but quite frankly if I could do a liquid diet I probably wouldn't need the band!

Apetite Supressants for those tough pre-op and post-op diets?
becky42 replied to JudiM's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am actually taking Phentermine (sp?) now. My PCP prescribed it while I was waiting on approval from insurance for the lapband. This happened pretty quickly and I start my pre-op diet tomorrow. I'm planning to take the pills during the pre-op diet. Not sure if I should tell my surgeon or not. I think I probalby will. I understand the need for the pre-op diet, but I find it interesting that the doctors think we, who have to have a lapband, can get through two weeks of liquids only.... -
Pre-Op Really Really Tired!
becky42 replied to jennyl's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I start my pre-op diet in the morning. For the first week I get two Protein shakes a day and a reasonable dinner (200 calories and 20 grams of protein). The second week is 4 to 5 Protein Shakes a day. I get banded on 7/30/07. I was hoping I wouldn't get tired. YOu know how sometimes when you're on a diet the second or third day you get your second wind? I'm hoping that happens with me. I've taken off work from Monday to Wednesday this week. My pre-op is Wednesday. Goodluck!!! -
My husband knows Bobby. I hope I do so well. I'm starting my liquid diet in the morning. I've made sure I had Los Mariachi's (my biggest weakness) and pizza. I'm sure I can probably have Mexican food some day again, but hopefully it won't take as much to fill me up. Goodluck and stay in touch.

Has anyone who had coverage for the lapband also had their health insurance cover the tummy tuck? If so, what insurance do you have? I have Empire Blue Cross Blue Shield. I haven't looked at the coverage - haven't had my band yet - scheduled for 7/30/07 - just thinking ahead.

Jacqui: Congrats on not needing surgery. I hope I'm so lucky. I'm curious though, did you have much of a stomach when you started? My stomach right now seems to be a real issue, even hanging a little. I'm 42 and need to lose about 90 lbs. Also, does anyone know if taking extra Vitamin E will help at all? Thanks, Becky

Sharon: I think Glasgow really counts, because I actually live in Scottsville. I always say Bowling Green, because most people don't know where Scottsville is! I'm having my surgery at Baptist. I didn't want Vandy because the waiting list was so long. At Baptist I got in and scheduled within one month. At Vanderbilt you have to wait for the seminar and then the next available appointment is 1.5 mos. Baptist has the seminar, but it's on line and you do it when you want. Have you had yours yet? How are you doing? Becky

Anyone have to do Opti Fast for 2 weeks?
becky42 replied to SD Chick's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I am scheduled for surgery on 7/30/07 so I have to start liquid diet - any type of protein drinks two times a day and a healthy dinner of no more than 200 calories - on 7/16/07. I'm kind of looking forward to it. I know that sounds silly but I'm trying to tell myself it's just temporary and for a good cause. I don't know how I'll physically feel when doing it and for all I know I will "fall off the wagon". I'm actually getting a little discouraged because I've been reading a lot about people who don't seem to be losing much weight. I plan to exercise a lot and hopefully it will come off faster. I have to remember it's not magic though. -
Hi everyone. I'm actually from Bowling Green, KY, but as you know it's right on the border and I'm going to Dr. Lynch at Baptist. Has anyone used him? I'm scheduled for surgery on 7/30/07 - and I can't wait. I start my liquid diet 7/16/07. Any words of wisdom would be appreciated. I noticed a lot of you have done really well - I'm SO EXCITED!!

I was just wondering if anyone is in this area. I'm having lapband on 7/30/07 in Nashville.
