Lucky # Sevens- July 07 Bandsters

Hello again, So I called my Doc office and asked just how long i have to stay on this liquid phase before going to mush, they told me 10-14 days, so today is day 11 and I decided to test the waters. So I took some refried beans, added small amnt of shredded cheese, some sour cream(to make it thin) and a dab of hot sauce, and I could only eat about 4 tsp full.....YES I AM FULL, satisfaction at last. So now I am feeling like a bandit (ha, ha). I swear this is the best day ever. So I will probably have liquids for lunch and my protein shake for dinner, don't want to push it too much. Well thanks for all the introductions, keep em coming.

Thank you for replying, it is a relief to hear that I am not alone. They told me 10-14 days on liquid so today is day 11 and I tried my first mushy food this morning, I had some refried beans( i know not a typical breakfast food but i had to have something) and I took only about 3 teaspoons full and WOW what a difference, I was actually full. I miss this full feeling. So I will probably have some liquids for lunch and dinner and then some more mushies tommorow, I just don't want to rush it, but now that I know what a difference it will make, I feel much better. How long did you wait before starting to exercise?

Good Morning Everyone!~! I just woke up this morning and I am feeling great!!!! This site really helps me stay focused. Yesterday I was feeling like such a failure and feeling like I had cheated, but when I added up my caloric intake for the day it was only 850, so I guess I did not do so bad. Felicia, congratulations and welcome to the other side. Today my goal is to try and get all my water in, I have been having slacking on that one. I wanted to ask a question, just so that I can get to know everyone a little better. Could everyone introduce themselves such as where they live and married/single, occupation. I just thought it would be good for the newbies like me to get to know all of you that have been around here for a little while. I will start, My name is Christy, I am 30 years old, I went to a seminar on May 26, 2007, I had my preop on 06/07/07, and I was banded on 07/02/07. I am self pay. I have been a LPN for the past 2 years and I am in school getting my RN degree, I will graduate in December. I live in a very small town in Georgia. I work in nearby city Thomasville, Ga on a med-surg floor. I am divorced for the past 7 years and looking forward to getting my new body and confidence to get back into the dating scene. I do not have any children but If God willing, would love to have one or two in the near future. (after I find a man of course) I have realized after having this surgery that my sole source of entertainment over the past 7 years has been food, and I am working on finding enjoyment in other things. Well anyway that is a little about me, I just thought it would be cool for us new bandsters to be able to get to know everyone a little better. Hope to hear from you all soon. Take care and God Bless~~

Hi Sheelagh!!! Welcome, this is a great group here, My name is Christy and I was banded on 07/02/07, not quite two weeks ago. Congratulations on your decision. I don't have any regrets and the healing process has been a breeze for me. My only struggle right now is hunger, but getting on here and chatting with all of these wonderful people helps me in ways I cannot express. Keep in touch, you will learn so much and gather so much strength from the other women here. If I can help you or answer any questions for you please let me know. Again Welcome!!!

The magic bullet is like a small mixer, that you can pretty much mix anything in. I have never used one but my brother has one and he uses it a lot and likes it. I thought it would come in handy for my next phase of my diet which is the mush phase

I ordered it from The Magic Bullet Blender - Official Website, My brother has one and they mix everything with it, but I don't know if it will puree food, but I'm sure it will.

hello everyone, I was actually banded on 07/02/07 but I wanted to speak to some of you that have been banded for a little while. I have 4 more weeks before my first fill and I am still on liquids. I have to admit that I am starving!!!!! Did any of you go through this? How much were you eating prior to getting your first fill? Just curious

my doctor gave me the go ahead on soupy grits this week, I tried them one time, only ate about 1/4 cup and was miserable, I have had cream of wheat and I can eat it without any problems, so I think your right about the grits, I think they did swell once they got inside. I am just looking forward to eating an egg, yummy. I think once I can eat more solid food, that I will be more satisfied, but these liquids are just not cutting the mustard if you know what I mean

I don't know, I did fill full, but not totally uncomfortable. It concerns me that I can drink that much. I called my Doctor office yesterday, because I have been so hungry, she told me that I woul be hungry until I got my first fill, that is 4 more weeks!!!! don't know what I am going to do until then. Up until today I have only been having about 4-6oz per meal, but it has to be completely liquid. Maybe I will be more satisfied when I move to the next phase. I only hope or I will start seeing the scale go back up!!! yikes!!! I am looking forward to the refried beans as well!!

I definately do not regret this decision. I have tried every diet out there and I only lose and then gain back more than what I lost. Anyone that says that this is an "easy way" out does not know what they are talking about. Just because you have the band, does not mean that you don't want to eat those things that made you overweight to start with. This has been the most challenging thing mentally that I have ever gone through. I applaud myself and all of you for having the bravery to make a stand and have this surgery. It takes a strong willed woman or man to make the decision to give up food. Although I know that I will be able to eat again, right now I am definately going through withdrawals, but I know that it will pass. Did not mean to get on a rampage, but I have people tell me that this surgery is the "easy way out" and it angers me so badly. So I stand up and applaud us all for taking a stand against obesity. Now that I am through rampaging, I am 11 days post-op, to all of you that are about the same as me, how much are you able to eat at this point? I just sat down and drank an entire bowl of soup, that would be 20oz (i drank it slowly of course) In my mind I am feeling like this is too much, what do you guys think? And also I am starting on the "mush" or "pureed" diet this weekend, any Ideas? What are some things that you guys have put into a blender?

I need some encouragement, I am feeling so hungry right now, not sure if it is mind hunger or actual hunger. My grandmother is staying with me and she was craving a hamburger, so I just went to McDonald's and got her a hamburger meal, Lord help me I wanted to eat some of her fries soooooooooo bad. Does anyone else get this way?

Well today was my weigh in day, I have lost 9 lb since surgery. I am now down a total of 31.5 lb total :clap2:, I cannot believe this, it is actually working. After so many years of struggling, it is like a breath of fresh air to see the scales starting to decline. I know that I have a long way to go yet but it feels good to get a good start on it. I hope everyone is doing well, and to all that are having surgery today, You are in my prayers
