So my dr office called yesterday morning and said that I need to have more blood work done. A complete metabolic work up the nurse said. I had all my tests done on the 24th. My pre-op appt is Monday. They wanted me to have it done Friday but I had Breakfast before she called so now I have to go in first thing money morning. I am now starting to worry...... Has anyone else had to do this? Am I just getting worked up for nothing? Any input would be greatly appreciated!

soontobehealthymom replied to soontobehealthymom's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am hoping that it is just because maybe the lab messed up ). It can't be for insurance since I am self paying, I was tiered of jumping thru the ins hoops for three years. -

So, I had my appointment today for all the fun bloodwork and such. I must say, I was a bit nervous. I had blood drawn, and EKG, some chest x-rays and an ultrasound for my liver, kidney and gallbladder. Why was I so nervous??? I am so excited to I finally be the person outside that I already know I am inside!! I think I was nervousness because now I have my per op on the 1st and surgery on the 15th. Time is getting closer!! Good luck everyone! -

I've heard of a lot people having a bucket lit and last meal and so forth. I'm not trying to offend anyone by any means but for most of us we are here because of those foods! I do not have a bucket list or a last meal. I have fought with my insurance for over three years and now have decided to self pay. I am embracing this tool and do not want to do anything to distract me from my goal. I know there are things I will more than likely never be able to eat gain but then again, I chose this. Just wanted to give my two cents good luck everyone! -

Am so happy!! After 3 years of fighting tooth and nail to get surgery, I would have to wait another six months just to send to insurance!! ( I have decided to just self pay, my health is more important to me than waiting around another six months!! Now the date is set and I'm sper excited! I am happy that I have found this site! Everyone seems so encouraging and supportive! If anyone can give me any tips I would appreciate it! My dr says I may not even need to do the liver shrink liquid diet before! That is exciting! I have been overweight my entire life! Right now I am 306 and my goal is 160. I'm smiling as I type that, it seems so unattainable but I know I'll get there! I'm excited to be the person on the outside that I have always been on the inside!!

I know, it is expensive but I am to the point where my health matters more. My hospital has. Cash pay price of $18,000.00 so it's cheaper but still expensive. I'd rather be healthy than buy a new car this year . -
Loved reading this!! I would love to read more! I wonder, does everyone keep some sort of journal about their expirence?

So happy for you! I quit cold turkey 6 years ago. I'm not going to lie, sometimes I crave one but as soon as I smell smoke I know I made the right choice! I can't even stand being around smoke, it is hard for me to believe that I ever smelt like that! Keep up the good work!!
