Great story and I love what you tell people about how you are losing. If someone is very obese would you tell them about your bypass? -
I swear i feel hungry
michelecaples replied to pookybear's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The pouch doesnt contain stomach acid, unless you ate an acidy food it is trying to process. That empty pouch feeling is uncomfortable abd you may indeed be hungry -

3-month post-op food cravings bread and cookoes
michelecaples replied to bakawaka's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Bread is digusting when you have to break it down to applesauce consistency. I hate bread now. Cookies burn the pouch and make you dump. Eat a cracker instead -
A month post op

I go to bed at 7 or 8 every night. I find I enjoy the sleep and it keeps me away from food during the major snacking hours -
"You're looking great"....but how does that make you feel?
michelecaples replied to mom2lucky (suznc)'s topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Compliments make me super uneasy. I wish people would not look at me. Once I am at my goal I may feel I deserve compliments, but not yet. I still have too far to go. -

I read almost every dsy that someone thinks they are failing. That word is full of such defeat. This surgery allows us the chance to retrain our brains and make new habits, but no matter what you do, you will lose for the first year. I would just like to say that even if your diet isnt perfect, and you dont stick to your amount of water and protein you think you have to do, you can still be a success. Those guidelines do not work for all. For example. I have never drank more than 30 oz of water in a day since surgery, let alone 100 oz. I get waterlogged and sick if I push it. I have never eaten over 40 to 50 grams of protein in a day. I usualky get around 30, yet my labs for hydration and protein are perfect. I take calcium carbonate instead of citrate and calcium is great. I.do exercise, but.did not start until my 4 th month post op due to.disability. I eat fruit everyday. It does not make me dump although a lot of things do. My point is, we are all.different and although guidelines are set, it does not mean we fail if we are not precise within those ideals. I started out at 225 & 5 months later weigh 158. I wear size 6 & smalls. Its great to follow the rules, but if you have to adjust things for you, it doesnt mean you are a failure. Give yourself a pat on the back. Tjis surgery isnt easy!

They basically just want to make sure you dont have eating disorders. Trying to binge eat after surgery could kill you, as could trying to be anorexic or bulimic

Once you have the surgery, you will realuze how much food this is. Even when you think you are being good. Thats about 3 days or more worth of food after rny
