Crstalww dont feel that way..You have been the motivating factor for me at times with just your conversation. You have the strength that it takes to get thru this and be a success story....God is not going to put you in a situation he cant bring you thru...Everything will be ok and you will wake up being a part of the loser's bench and holding me a seat til I get there on the 14th!!!!!!

Hello all of my November surgery family...I havent been on much the last week or so had to move and get settled in. Started a new schedule at work last week and had to register for my fall quarter at school, so I've been busy. Noticed we have some new November dates so Congrats on everyone on this journey...Only have a little time left before we start our countdowns. I know a few if you are starting your preop diets, how's that going. I just have day before liquid diet but dont really like that. I wanted to already be training myself so after surgery wont be such a huge shock to my body. If anyone has any suggestions pls let me know, doesnt have to be all liquid or anything just something to help me get mentally prepared. Since my insurance didnt require any supervised diet or anything I really havent changed how I eat so Im definitely open to any options...

Crstlww, yeah I noticed with reading alot of posts how long the process has been for some. I thought long and hard for the last year b4 making the decision to go thru with the surgery bc it does seem scary, but my mom who has been quite an inspiration for me had lapband 5 yrs ago and she looks great, she has maintained her weightloss and went from size 24/26 down to 10 and has fit into some size 8 and weighs 150. She is truly a success. She helped me decide which would be right for me and we decided on rny. She even said if she had to do it all over again she wld have done rny. My mom also works at a bariatric center in NC, so she gives me alot of tips on the ins and outs as well. Im in Atlanta, 32 no kids one of my other reason for wanting the surgery I have PCOS and that has hendered me from conceiving so hopefully this helps. Im 5'6, 281and deal with diabetes, sleep apnea, high blood, and hiatal hernia...So this surgery is not just a want for me its a need in order to be able to continue to enjoy and extend my life for awhile longer....Im ready and just love all the positivity and information that I gain from these boards..
-
Congrats on your surgery...How have things been for you this last mth?
-
I hope you were talking to me being that I am responding,lol...I am wanting the gastric bypass...I started just in September with the process, didnt have to do supervised diet, so wasnt too bad getting psych eval, labwork and nutrition visit..my biggest hurdle was the medical necessity letter, that I ended up getting from the cardiologist bc my pcp was giving me such a hard time....Am I nervous today, not so much, but when its showtime ask me again and you will get the real emotion, lol...
-
Im going to be in November as well..spoke with Insurance company today and was advised shld have an answer by the end of the week...Congrats to everyone that already has a date and to those that are just a few steps away!!!!
-
Hey everyone, I am hoping for a November date as well. Everything was submitted to insurance on Friday so we will see. I want November instead of October to have more time to get up my out of pocket cost of 1000. Wishing everyone good luck and hopefully we will take this journey together.
-
The same thing was happening to me with my pcp, so I ended up going to pick my stuff up and faxing the records just this morning myself.

I definitely know its going to be a struggle, but overall it definitely looks like you havent allowed falling short to totally deter you. Looking at the before to the now shows you have put in work...It is a good feeling to see that as long as we do what we need to do we can reach these realistic goals...I hope to have my surgery sometime next month and just want to be as successful as I can be because I know everyone is different. At the beginning for you was it really hard to get your liquids down, and have you had any dumping?
-
Girl you look good, definitely an inspiration....I may need some tips once I have my surgery as to how you have stayed focused. Again, you look great keep up the good work.

Closer To The Finish, But Still Not There Yet!

Last week met with my surgeon and dietician for the first time. Tomorrow I have upper gi, ekg, blood work and psych appt...only thing I need after that is one support group meeting which I think I will do tomorrow as well...After that I guess its the waiting game so they can submit to insurance..Dietician said probably an October date, so we'll see...Im just worried abt what my out of pocket costs are at the hospital seems like no one knows...I have BCBS with 90/10...so Im just going to pray it all works out and whats meant for me will be!!.. -
Hopefully all will work itself out. Remaining positive in a time when it seems like it cant get any worse will allow you a peace of mind. I'll send prayers up for you not only for your surgery but also for strength for your family if your husband has to be laid off. Right now you can only control the controllables and everything else will be alright.

I have an out of pocket max of 1000. I chose a plan that didnt have a deductible so medicines and stuff that I have paid throughout the year didnt go to anything. Do you know if John Creek allows a payment plan or its all upfront. -
