kisersassy replied to smiller1982's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Congrats!! So when do you get a surgery date? Do you have to do a pre op liquid diet? I seen where you said that the doc put you on a pre op diet was that before approval? Sorry for all the questions. Cause I am hoping he puts me on mine when I go for my final appointment October 23 -

To Submit Or Not Submit?
kisersassy replied to peachee213's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Well if you call the insurance company and they say it doesn't have to be consecutive then I would go for it. Although most insurance does require it to be consecutive. So really only they can tell you. Your surgeon should know as well if he deals with that insurance company a lot -
Yeah my pcp and surgeon is working hand in hand with me. Like my surgeon will write out the test I need done and the pcp arranges it

Waiting Is Exhausting When You're Already Ready

My final appointment is October 23rd so hopefully November -
That is why I chose to have the surgeon do the 7 month requirement that insurance requires instead of pcp. Because he knows exactly what the insurance company wants

Newbie From Michigan

Its going to be a journey well worth taking. I too have researched and wanted this surgery for years. Finally this year I came across someone that husband works with same company as my husband and told me that our insurance covered this surgery. I literally cried right there I was so happy. I even clocked out of work and immediately called the weight loss center to get things rolling. I am hoping my surgery will he in early November would be a big blessing if end if October but I know that us probably stretching it knowing my final appointment is October 23rd and then the wait begins for insurance approval. The office said can take anywhere from 2 day to 2 weeks. Then I guess will have to start my pre op liquid diet for a week -
Just make sure you get your 55-60 grams of protein in each day. My hardest so far is getting 64 ounces of water a day. So far I can only do around 30-40 ounces and about 20 ounces of decaf coffee

Just Approved For Surgery!
kisersassy replied to mollym's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am using whey protein isolate. Vanilla cream ( that way I can add fresh fruit or decaf coffee) it provides 30 g of protein per scoop and if you use 1% milk an additional 8 g. For my shake I blend 1 scoop powder ,1tbls sugarfree strawberry jello mix, 8 ounces 1% milk and sometimes cut up half a banana. I also did the powder coffee milk ice and blend was tolerable enough -
What makes it harder in us is that "healthy" food is a lot more expensive then a bag of rice or Mac and cheese, spaghetti, potatoes etc.... its hard financially to buy food for us and food for them ( especially for me because my husband refuses to change anything in his eating)

Started My Pre-Op Weight Loss
kisersassy replied to rev.meckenzie's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I am struggling with this weight loss process so much. I feel constantly hungry even after I eat. Like for dinner I had 1 1/4 cup of veggies and 3 ounces meat. No bread no fruit. I also did a protein drink for breakfast and had a deli sliced chicken sandwich for lunch I have drank so far about 30 ounces of water and decaf coffee -

Can you explain that too me about the insurance?? I have been so confused on what I will have to pay. I am on a 90-10 plan, $100 in network deductible and then it says $750 in network deductible which all has been met. So far I haven't had to pay for any of my tests. I just confused how it all works -
Tomorrow Is The Big Day
kisersassy replied to nikkiba75's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am just green with jealousy LOL. I have so far to go. But I am so happy and excited for all of you and look so forward to reading and following and learning from each of you through this process. Good luck!! -
I was just trying to research the nicotine content. There are different studies showing 0-48 mgs if nicotine but little to none is absorbed by the smoker. I have prefilled cartridges but you can buy online the system that contains no nicotine at all but it gives you the sensation of smoking which helps a lot. I can tell the difference already in the 4 weeks. Yesterday I climbed 2 flights of stairs and they are big flights LOL and didn't have to stop because of being out of breath. Before I would have to stop every 5 steps or so and so out of breath that I was literally scared that I would die because I couldn't breath
-
The surgeon didn't say I couldn't so I am not sure. I know when I go to my weigh ins I see people fixing to have and some that has had surgery smoking
-
I quit 4 weeks ago. The first week I chewed regular gum and sucked on cinnamon and butterscotch hard candies. Then I went and got an electronic cig and a pack of refill cartridges (comes with 5) and that lasted me for 2 weeks and this past Friday I bought another refill pack. I plan to quit this as well but at my week pre op liquid diet. Maybe sooner. I got in trouble for gaining 7 lbs this past month so now I have to lose that plus 10 more pounds
-
I am 43 and have smoked since I was 16. It was hard but I am using electronic cigs to help. My pcp said it is perfectly fine for me to do

My doctor wants you to quit ASAP but he said at least 2 weeks prior to surgery
