Chug and Run tomorrow - how did you mix your Colyte?
kisersassy replied to ready2smile's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The only thing I can suggest is don't over pack. Chapstick and phone and charger is only must. Where something comfortable and stretchy too hospital and where same thing home. While at hospital use the pain meds and stay ahead of the pain. Don't wait till your miserable to ask for more. And sip your 1-2 ounces every 15 minutes and try to walk as much as you can -

Worried about water intake
kisersassy replied to agirlofaith's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
That is a good start if you can drink a lot. Right after surgery you are given like medicine cups and they want you to drink 1-2 ounces every 15 minutes up to 64 ounces if you get more in that's great just don't expect to much the first week or so -

Am I Able to Eat TOO Much?
kisersassy replied to Losing4Lundyn's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Oh but the 1/2 cup size your stomach is now is right on track where it should be. When we first have surgery we have to try to get 1/4 cup in but the goal at your stage post op is 1/2 cups. I can easily do 1/2 cup and I am just 2 months post op. -
Am I Able to Eat TOO Much?
kisersassy replied to Losing4Lundyn's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
They put weight back on because after the first 18 months after surgery we malabsorb calories and nutrients. That is our golden window. If you consume 3500 calories you gain a pound. So if you eat junk and high fat foods and drink your calories in sodas or even Starbucks coffees. More or less eating and drinking the same stuff prior to wls you will gain the weight back. -

Am I Able to Eat TOO Much?
kisersassy replied to Losing4Lundyn's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes using the 5 day pouch test. And eventually you can eat 1 cup if food per meal later on. Right now you should only be eating 1/2 cup. But it depends in what you eat too. As yogurt and stuff like that goes right through you and doesn't stay in your stomach. But try eating 3-4 meals a day measure out 3 ounces of protein and 1 ounce of veggies. Wait 30 minutes after and drink and also go back to drinking protein shakes. Just get your 70-80 grams of protein in and 64 or more ounces of water and you will see you wont be hungry. -

Am I Able to Eat TOO Much?
kisersassy replied to Losing4Lundyn's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Taking a sip or two is ok according to my doc but that's it. If you are really thirsty maybe see what you are eating as it may be high in sodium which will make you thirsty and will make you hold onto water weight. But do wait 30 minutes to drink. This surgery is a tool and as you get further out you will be able to consume more and be able to tolerate more that is why we have to change our behavior. If not we will just gain all the weight back and end up with a stretched pouch that wont function that well. Try resetting your pouch by going back to clear liquids for a week and then progress just as if you just had surgery -

Approved help please with question.
kisersassy replied to kat77's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Don't stress about it!!! I stressed the same way you are. You are approved and so just keep doing your liquid diet if its what the surgeon requires from you. If your just doing it to lose the 10 pounds and the surgeon didn't tell you to then don't do the liquid but eat sensible until you have to do one. I worried myself sick over this and once I was approved after my 6 months of weigh in my weigh ins really didn't effect anything. Now if you were to gain 20 pounds or so before surgery the surgeon might not think your ready yet and cancel till you are but don't stress you've got this now!!! Getting approved is the biggest hurdle
