Pouch stretching
Lovelycurves replied to lovealways's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Vsg is bound to stretch more than an rny pouch. Reason being is the hormone that's released its just reduced but comes back with the vsg therefore the vsg soul stretch nearly to the size itwas before. As a pouch doesn't have any of the greater curve its not nearly going to stretch as much although they both stretch as long as you do what your surgeon tells you it shouldn't stretch barely if at All. -

I'm from phoenix az and having my surgery at tempe st lukes hospital. Cannot wait. My last weigh in is Friday and then next month have all my evals and surgery in april. Gl everyone and congrats to all the postopers! -
I'm totally getting worried that my insurance won't approve my surgery in march... hopeing to have it in april. I am doing everything my insurance needs and I'm just scared its not good enough. I've never been so scared that insurance wouldn't approve because since the start I've had it all planned out in my head. I have my 6th and final weighin on feb 1 and then doing an extra month so that's march 1. Then having all my cardiology and pulminology stuff done in feb and then my psych eval around march 5. Then hopeing to submit to insurance by no later than march 20! And if all goes well and they approve (takes 7-10 days) then hopeing for surgery by no later than april 30! All my insurance requires is 6month weigh ins with pcp, 1educational class, seminar, letter of med necessity from pcp, cardiology, pulminology, psych eval and I believe that's all, I did have slep study and get results for that tomorrow but that was my surgeon requirment. Now that things are getting closer and closer I'm even more excited but so scared to be let down. I also changed from RNY to Duodenal Switch. Just looking for people to talk to about getting WLS since I have noone else really. Sure I've annoyed my hubby and mom about it lol anyways my stats are CW: 319LBS HW: 346LBS I'm 5 ft 5in and 21 yrs old female. When I started this process my weight was 332lbs. And when I had my reconsult with new surgeon it was 322lbs there. I have high blood presure due to my weight (but since starting this my bp has been pretty decent which is funny) anyways please anyone who can just talk with me would be AWESOME!

getting worried... anyone to talk with?
Lovelycurves replied to Lovelycurves's topic in Insurance & Financing
That's great. Its always good to have a strict surgeon in my opinion. I'm on state insurance to be honest because I cannot afford other insurance. I have APIPA which i'm in Arizona so don't know if other states have this same plan or what not. Yes I need to lose my weight because i'm too young to be unhealthy and having a BMI of 53 at 319 lbs 5ft5in 21 years old is no good. Have high blood pressure due to weight -

Well after my psych eval in march is when my doc will submit to my insurance. And yes waiting is the hard part, but I'm going to stay positive because I have been doing what I'm supposed to. I decided to switch to the DS firstly because my doc brought it up, and I didn't know insurance would cover it till I talked to him so I didn't do my research to begin with, and then decided to do my research and there's a lot to the DS that I feel would be a bit better for me. Such as keeping the valve unlike in the RNY also because with RNY you only lose about 60% of excess body weight and with the DS you actually lose about 85% excess body weight, and with the RNY people usually gain some weight back, and with the DS weight gain is almost never seen. So that's definitely a plus for me. because if I'm going to get surgery and do everything right I don't want to stable out with some weight gain from my lowest weight which usually happens with RNY paitients (not all but some) so I've done a lot of research and I feel the DS is for me. There are some things though that are negative such as body odor is stronger but fixes itself within the first 6 months and having to take in MORE protein and vitamins but that's ok for me. He said the DS isn't for everyone but I do believe its for me. And I've done A LOT of research on it. -
Oh also added water so its more of a water consistancy otherwise this is more like a chilly.

I'm not post op yet, but decided to make this because I've been wanting to try taco Soup. This was yummy. I did do some changes as some said. This is what I did. 1 can of corn(I think a 12oz can) 2 cans of Beans (12oz too) 2 cans of MEXICAN LIME AND CILANTRO rotel 1 lbs of 96% lean 4%fat beef 1 packet of taco seasoning 1 packet of happy valley ranch powder This is awesome thanks!

Well, I'm here at the sleep study, its actually pretty nice. An actual full (maybe queen) size bed in a room, kinda looks like a hotel room little smaller, and bathroom is in hall (its in a doctor office) I'm nervous because I haven't slept without my hubby and when I do sleep away from him I don't actually sleep! The doc gave me a 3mg of lunesta to try to help hopeing it will work. Haven't gotten set up yet, soon though. Already little sleepy (but assumeing that's from my monthly visitor and how early I was up today 6ish and not to bed till after midnight) so hopeing this goes well, I know they are putting a cpap machine on me and if I need it will turn it on. This is gonna be a night that's for sure. Anyways hopefully things go great and I get this done so I can move to the next thing lol gl to me and hopefully no sleep apnea! (My bmi is already at 53 and have high blood presure so I'm already set for that kind of approval)

RNY Gastric bypass.... Duodenal Switch.... April dates?!
Lovelycurves posted a topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Hey everyone, so I had a reconsult with my new surgeon and we talked for like 2 hours unlike the lastone who said to come back when I'm done with my 6month weighin. I'm so happy to have a surgeon who is VERY SUPER INFORMITIVE. He basically redid the seminar but only got in depth with these two surgeries (which I didn't even know my insurance covered the DS) anyways I was soooo set on having RNY and believed that this was the surgery for me. Well anyways I've done a lot of research along with everything he has told me, and I believe now that the DS is the surgery for me. Although I know noone who has had this surgery only people who have had RNY. I'm nervous and excited and all I know is I cannot wait for march to be here already so I can submit to insurance and be approved. Anyways I was wondering if anyone else has looked into having DS and still had RNY or if anyone has done their research and what they think about the DS. I will be having OPEN DS and will call my surgeons office tomorrow and tell them that's my decision on surgery. I will have my 6th weigh in with my doc on feb 1. And then my 7th weigh in on march 1. And then have my psych eval around the 5th of march and hopefully submit by the end of march and 7 to 10days later have approval! So have my surgery by the end of april hopefully before my bday! (May5) and have all my cardiology and pulmiary tests in febuary. Excited to get this done. Anyone else around the same schedule as me?! Would like to hear any comments (except negative of course) thanks! -
My doc said you have to burn as many calories you are taking in. So if you're eating 1500 calories a day you should be burning 1500 calories a day. He also said it takes some people to eat only 600 to 800 calories a day before they will lose any weight. And he is a health freak, and eats grass all day (lol inside joke me and my mom have) but he works out and is in great shape . I eat about 900 calories a day and have lost 13lbs doing this in a month. And I exercise about 45mins. So what he says is right for me.

I'm sorry AB. I slept ok. Got about 5-6 hrs of sleep. Did wake up a few times tossing and turning and the thing they put in my noise that goes over my mouth to monitor breathing that annoyed the crap out of me! Butthe tech said I won't be needing to come back for a second one. And they didn't put the cpap on me so yay no sleep apnea. (didn't say I didn't have out just assuming) just come back the 21st to talk about my results and be one step closer to my surgery.

Good luck to you also! I'm not sure if I have it or not but definitely hopeing not. Getting ready to be hooked up. Not looking foward to it haha goodnight :-P

Me and hubby been talking a lot (or should I say arguing...) I am 21 and we've been married for 2 years in april, and together for 4 years. He is 24. And we've had a lot of problems in our relationship (a lot more good things though) but we've always managed to get past all the negative and love each other and get through the rough times... (maybe we don't have enough play time lol) but anyways we were talking and he wanted me to write down 10 things (new year revolutions) that I want to accomplish this year. Well I can tell you all I definitely don't have 10 things. And maybe only 3 things tops. Anyways we started discussing and I feel like he's always judging me and maybe because I feel horribly about myself I think he does too but I feel like he will judge me over anything just because we were raised in different cultures religions and race. He is from mexico and he came here when he turned 18, I've lived here in usa my whole life (and I'm a white girl) I've had a pretty rough life (not saying he hasn't) but he's never had to have worries like me. Anyways he said he's not sure about our future. I told him this surgery i'm having in April will break us or make us. He said heprAys it makes us better which we are great together. I question us to sometimes but remind myself how we've gotten through so much. I just think he has insecurities of me getting this surgery. Which he's said things in post but he's support me through this and I love him for it.I love him and he says he loves me he just has thoughts of us not being together forever but he wants us to work there's just things he's not liking about me sometimes. Do you ask think this is bad?

Thanks ladies I am doing this surgery for me, I'm too young to be this heavy and not be able to do the things I should be able to do, like walk around a park without feeling like my lungs are going to burst, or having high blood pressure. Anyways idk what was wrong with my hubby that day because we have been doing so good, we have little stupid arguments that most any couple would have, but that day he just really wasn't himself. Anyways I love my hubby and as he says he loves me, he said she's going to be a better husband and treat me the way I deserve and I hope that's true. I just think the closer it gets to april he is getting more freaked out, partly cause I've told him its a very risky surgery, but I'm going to be fine but also cause I tell him I can't wait to lose my weight and be skinny and finally feel great about myself. (Along with getting healthy) anyways yes thanks and I'm doing this for myself noone else. And I have great support system just think hubby had a bad day or something

question about supervised diet?...
Lovelycurves posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was just wondering, mine have to be 6 consecutive weigh ins which my first was september and my 6th will be febuary, anyways should I do one extra in march just to be safe? Also, mine are about 28 days apart, (each month too but not same day) like my sept was on 9-11, 10-9, 11-6 & My last one was on 12-4 and my 5th weigh in is 1-2 its this ok. They are exactly 4 Weeks apart. This its how my doc office scheduled them -
open RNY gastric bypass? or lap?
Lovelycurves posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Has anyone had this done? What's the pros and cons of it over lapriscopic? My surgeon decided to leave the practice and now ill be seeing the other surgeon (which things happen for a reason) and he does both lap and open but prefers to do open. He's pretty honest and reather do open so, that's what I'm thinking of going with, partly because he sutures and they disolve with open instead of staples being in my body forever with lap. I just wanna hear if anyone has any thoughts on this. I know its one long cut (which I'm ok with) instead of 4-6 different little cuts. Anyways just curious because surgery is going to be in april and wanna decide before this on what may be better. I am definitely leaning towards the open though, also what's the down time for both? -
Increasing Protein
Lovelycurves replied to 4SFLFDS's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
20grams of Protein LESS than 10 grams of fat LESS than 10 grams of carbs This is the rule for each meal. That's what I was told at the class I did yesterday. -
Increasing Protein
Lovelycurves replied to 4SFLFDS's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was told yesterday at my educational class that is required for ins purpose that bypass paitients its 30gms of protein absorbed at each meal. But they also said to follow the 20:10:10 rule. And eat 5-6small meals a day so you'd get about 100 to 120gms of protein in a day. That's what I was told anyways. -
I'll also be done with my 6 weigh in in February. My 5th weigh in is on January 2. Cannot wait at all! I won't be submitting to insurance till march though and hopefully surgery in April. good luck and hope all goes well for you! When do you want your surgery to be scheduled for anyways?

few things on my mind...
Lovelycurves replied to Lovelycurves's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yeah once I switch my insurance in march the psych eval will be covered by my insurance. Them submit all my paper work by march 15 and have surgery date in April.and I cannot wait! -
Firstly, called surgeons office today to see about my psych exam and if they have any psychologist that takes my insurance to just find out my surgeon is no longer with them for like 2 freaking months. I got nothing i'm the mail and no phone call wow once again this happened to me with my old pcp. Well no worries, just need reconsult with the other surgeon no problem maybe he'll be better than the other anyways. Well come to find out the one plan i'm on has like NO psychologists that take it! hopeing tomorrow when I call this other place they actually have a bariatric psychologist that takes my insurance plan. Also, going to my educational class on Wednesday. Then sleep study the 9th. Already have 4 out of 6 supervised diets done 5th one done on Jan 2nd yay then February done with them. Waiting on nutritionist, pulmonary, and cardiology referrals then I'll submit to insurance by march 15 hopefully get a April date! Cannot wait at all! Just hoping all goes as planned and will have all my required things done by February . hoping to have surgery NO later than April 30! My bday is may 5 and hoping to be recovering great by then! Its kinda frustrating though to find out my surgeon just left with no notice to me! But obviously he wasn't meant to be mine and this other surgeon was! I'm so excited oh also so far, started at 332 lbs and 5'5. Since September i've lost 12 lbs.lol am at 320 as of today. Which is pretty awesome. Haven't been less than 330 in s couple, years. Does anyone have any friendly advise for me? I have noone to really talk to about this! Thanks!
