Hospital Stay And Anxiety Issues
slowtogo replied to EmpressLizBunny's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If you don't like your hospital...might it be worth looking elsewhere? My team is wonderful, and I have complete faith in them. Do you have a friend or sibling that could stay with you? That support really helps a lot. -
Homemade Mushroom Broth For All Liquid Diet
slowtogo replied to EmpressLizBunny's topic in Liquids (stage 1)
Neither of which I am fond of. However, a thought to boost the protein. Add silken tofu...it will taken on the flavor of the soup and add creaminess and protein. Different than hard or firm tofu. It doesn't keep its shape. -
You know...its a funny thing about abuse. It happens at all levels and all incomes. Ironically, being in an emotionally abusive relationship hurt me worse than being in a physically abusive relationship. And my weight skyrocketed. I didn't eat excessively, but the stress prevented the ability to lose it. And guess what? High incomes don't mean we are rich...we can just be broke to a different level. You get chained to the mortgage, the car payments, the credit cards, and at the end of the week, you can still be living paycheck to paycheck.

How Do You Stay Positive When Everyone Is So Negative..
slowtogo replied to destineex33's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Some like us to stay fat because it makes them feel superior to us. I don't think it really is because they worry about us. Our spouses don't want to have to compete with others. Our friends like that we aren't competition. -
I find dropping my carbs helps shake loose the pounds. When the carbs creep up, so does water retention.

My husband...soon to be ex...was no support either. I am an engineering...and spent too much time after the surgery crying. But I am getting healthy, have lost 90 lbs so far...and it will be his loss. (Hug)

Hospital Stay And Anxiety Issues
slowtogo replied to EmpressLizBunny's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Empress, So good to have you here!! Will you have a support person with you at the hospital? In my hospital, we have a bariatric team and I strongly encourage that you communicate your needs with them. Your support person can do the same thing. -
My personal opinion is don't sit with em during dinner. Why do it to yourself?

3 Wks Post Op Tomorrow!
slowtogo replied to Lissette2022's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hey guys...don't get discouraged. Just remember-drink your Water, get your Protein, and walk walk walk! Stay away from carbs. You can and WILL do this!! Would you have lost even 14 lbs in one month if you did NOT do surgery? That's better than 3.5 lbs a week. At that rate, you would lose over 150 lbs in a year. Patience...it did not go on fast, so it takes time. And...remember, talk with your dietician if you stall. -
Ellie In Onederland?
slowtogo replied to Ellie_Grace's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I hit it with a flying leap...went from 200.0 to 198.4...now waiting for that number to be below 200 with clothes ON! -
Used to love jerky...but after surgery it smells like and tastes like cat food to me. (and no, I didn't eat cat food...but had I... Lol)
-
Baba ganashe and hummus...chicken and egg salad puréed with fat free mayo or a friend recommended cottage cheese, no pickles or celery. Puréed scrambled eggs
-
Mine said 800 was the first goal-3 protein shakes give you 600 cal and 60 in protein. 200 for other stuff at first. Had to inch it to 1000 when I stopped losing weight.

Lol...avocados became my "go to" food. Careful...cause it's puréed consistency, and you can eat a fair quantity. One? You can if you are a few months out and you aren't careful...guacamole and chips... Be very very careful with portion control. Speaking as one with experience...lol!!
