Not a Success Story

Kat - it was incredibly disrespectful and insensitive of you to post in this thread. What's the matter? Can't shine bright enough in the threads where everyone else is doing well too??? Seems a bit desperate to me. The decision to get the band was a huge one and I researched it as well as anyone and it has sucked from day one. Its hard enough without people like you adding their two cents. Your trying to be a supportive bandster feels like a back-handed compliment.

A thread for Single Bandsters

I always responded to anyone that expressed an interest. I just think its an nice thing to do. Even if you say that you are taking a break or that you've met someone and you'd like to see where it goes. I also do not think that its inappropriate to say that you just don't feel a connection and with them good luck. I would never be rude. Dating is tough enough and on-line dating even more so and I don't want to make it worse. I always appreciated a response so that I knew what to do - close out, wait, etc... Hope this helps and good luck!

Also, you may want to try to eat some salmon for dinner a couple of nights. It seems to be extremely high in protein. Again, just a suggestion :cursing:

A thread for Single Bandsters

Have you tried Carnation Instant Breakfast made with skim milk instead of water? It sounds like you'd have to sip it but if you could drink two of them before evening you could get 15-20 grams before evening. Just a suggestion... I'm going for my second fill today and I'll be right at the same place as you. I'm wondering if I'll have the same problem? How did your first fill go? Did you have restriction? Good luck!

What do you mean "...that you can take safely with the band..."? I asked my surgeon if there were any meds that I should avoid and she said "no". What did you hear? P.s. I hope you feel better :scared2:

A Little Help for my Dec LBT friends

I was banded on 12/28 and I'm not even going to post my, "did really well with weight loss pre-op and two weeks post-op but now am fluctuating with gaining and losing the same three lbs." story because it seems that many of us have the same story. I'm so so so glad to hear this. I feel like I'm losing my mind. I am scheduled for a fill on 1/31 and I'm praying for restriction. I'm not totally dependent on that but come on, that was the point of the procedure - a little assist. Right? Thank you so much for everyone who has posted. It has been so very helpful! Hang in there everone :girl_hug:
8. I was full liquids for the first week, mushy foods for the second week and was back to mostly solids by the end of the third week. I didn't eat any red meat or bread but my surgery date was 12/28 and for the past week I've been able to eat anything and pretty much as much as I want. Any time I eat less its because of a decision to do so, not because of any restriction! Very frustrating.

December Post-Op Thread

I was finally banded yesterday in St. Louis. It went amazingly well. A little stiff at incision area and some pains from gas but its tolerable. Went to the grocery store on the way home to get a script filled and took a short nap this afternoon but that was it. Haven't needed any pain medicine yet which is amazing to me. No problems thus far with nausea, hunger or keeping anything down. I'm so very thankful for how things have gone thus far. Several people have said that day two and three are worse. I hope not. Thanks to all who have posted. Its been so helpful reading all of your posts. Good luck to all! Samantha
10. I'm getting banded on 12/28 in St. Louis, MO and am very excited! I am looking to perhaps meet with someone who has had this procedure at Wash. U in St. Louis also. Anyone out there willing to meet and share their experience??? Looking for a band-buddy!

December Post-Op Thread

My date is 12/28 so its coming up. The two week liquid diet pre-op is tough to say the least. I hate the taste of the drinks that I have and that's most of the problem. No room to complain - its all relative! Just anxious to get this going. Thank you so much to everyone that has posted. It has been so incredibly helpful! Best of luck to everyone Samantha

Destiny 79,
I'm glad you posted your before pic. I think you'll be glad you did. The pic is just one thing we see. The pic is just a pic and can never really capture how fabulous you are (before or after pics!)- the posts do that! I would like to post my before pic but couldn't find the thread. Can you tell me the exact title and I'll search it. Thank you in advance! Samanta

St. Louis People

Anyone had the procedure at Wash U.? I am scheduled to be banded with Dr. Halpin on 12/28/07. Am still unsure as to what to expect. I am most worried about after the procedure. I'm hoping there will be some education regarding nutrition and diet information at the pre-op. Anyone have any information? I'd appreciate it

it appears i've lost my motivation ...

As someone who is not yet immersed in the LB experience (banding scheduled for Nov. '07), yet entirely too familiar with the entire weight / weight loss experience, I just want to take a minute to remind all of you how absolutely fabulous each of you are. I have no reason to lie to you. Amidst all the trials its easy to lose perspective and I know it doesn't solve anything in the immediate but its absolutely true. Thank you for all of your honesty and your posts!
20. My original weight was 430 and I lost about 125 lbs on my own and one of the things I noticed was that it seemed like my boobs got bigger. I'm sure it was because other things got smaller but I was shocked! I've gained some of that weight back and am scheduled for LB in Nov. so I'm anxious to see what happens. I hope they don't get smaller!

Do you tell people you're banded?

What do papaya tablets do if you don't mind my asking - newbie here!

Do you tell people you're banded?

I just received my letter today from the ins. saying that I've been approved so I'll most likely be scheduled in Nov. I didn't want to tell anyone because I'm worried that I may not work or that I wouldn't have the freedom of changing my mind. Also, I lost 125 lbs on my own over two years ago and it was very very hard work. I didn't want to tell people because I didn't want their ignorance of what the procedure involves and the effort that it requires to stick with it to be minimized by then thinking that "the band" did it. I know this sounds weird but it really bothered be before and I know this is more their problem and not mine but it made me not want to share. Anyway, I was a sucker because my aunt who is very overweight started talking about considering the procedure and I cracked because I had done all this research and she knew nothing. Now, everyone knows - argh!
23. HI Paula, I'm so sorry you're having this experience - how frustrating and disappointing to say the least!!! I am waiting for the approval from my ins. for the procedure so I do not have any information for you regarding my own experience. I just wanted to say that I feel terrible for you. I wish I had more encouraging words for you. Just wanted you to know someone was thinking about you!
