I have a question for any one: I am experiencing pain in my stomach. I can no longer lay on my side and I have been back on liquids since this begas about 4 days ago. I feel terrible and have a pain in my back too. I'm scared it has slipped, but have no one to consult with. Any advise or suggestions?

I hate Walmart. Everytime I go there because it's on the way home I am reminded of my absolute distain for the smell of the place (it's only 3 months old), the rude people shopping and working there, the fact that no matter how large they build it, it is always overcrowded with only 3 registers open. Please bring back my farm stand, small hardware store, family owned pet shop, and all the other mom and pop places who cared about the customer spending their $. To Walmart my few dollars means nothing. That's why they're products suck and they have no customer service.

I agree on the photo thing. Mine was way back in June and this photo still is a little scarey. I had mine done in Mexico as did several of my friends. So far so good.

Danbo, You look really really good. Congrats!

My buddy and I got banded at the same place south of the border. The week she had hers done there was a 14 year old having it done at the same time. I wondered how that could really affect a kid. It was a miserable experience for me and I'm 33.

I was banded in June. This PB thing happens a lot to me. Sometimes even with water. Any suggestions?

Do you have under active thyroid?
blugini59 replied to too much of me's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hi, I'm new to this thread. I was diagnosed with under active thyroid when I was 15. Now, I'm 32 and been on so many different brands of medications and dosages I just got sick of it all. That and the fact that I have the fat gene from my whole family seemed like I was never gonna beat it. Last year I was on 3 different meds/dosages and gained 40lbs in the process. So it was a big part of my decision to get the band. I am at 5 weeks with the band and take my current medication regularly. I am happy to say I have lost 26 lbs. at this point and will be starting my excersize routine this week. I hope you all have great success. Underactive Thyroid is so depressing. Now we don't have to look like we have Thyroid problems. -
you can still eat good. Just instead of a whole plate you can enjoy 1 or 2 bites of each flavor.

I get very hungry, but the pain of eating is just not worth it. I found hot tea with a little cream and sweetner will help curb the urge for me at night which is when I get hungry.

??? What about eating out?
blugini59 replied to Longingtolose's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I'm so glad to see your post. I'm at 6 or 7 bites and find that sometimes food tastes good. I miss salad. I've been nervous to try it as I still have a little pain when anything is not chewed perfectly. -
I was banded 6/21/07. I have a question for fellow June bandits. How is your hunger level and what do you eat at this point? I've never woken up hungry and since the band I wake up starving in the middle of the night!!! This isn't a good thing. Suggestions?

Did anyone get there lap band done in mexico?
blugini59 replied to mommy2kyler's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
They did have army on the borders and at the edges of the cities, but it is no big deal to anyone who has ever traveled outside the US. They are very kind at the clinic. I had severe complications resulting from surgery and yet I still believe in the procedure and the process. Keep in mind you will not be in a big US hospital. This is a foreign country. Their idea of a hospital is more like a nice clinic to us. The rooms and nurses are comfortable and accomodating. Give yourself plenty of time to get back to the US to get on your plane. I estimate 4 hours. 2 hours to get through the border and every bit of 2 hours at the San Diego airport. This airport is VERY busy and they have few security areas. LINES ARE LONG!!! Can you tell I missed my flight? Any other questions? My friend and I both along with others I know of have used BAJANOR. -
Tulips, I am so happy for you. I hope everything works out well. 179 is really good. I am 15lbs away from being under 200 and would love to say I am 179. Enjoy your fruit cup! It will all be worth it!!! Jeannie

You can get a Medical Loan. There are many finance institutions that have these available. I did get my band in Mexico, but I used one of these medical finance institutions to pay for half of the cost. A lot of times once you choose a Doctor they will be members of several banks or finance groups that you can apply and go through.

Thank you sooo for including me. I do have a viewpoint question for anyone in my stage - at 3 weeks. I feel hungry about every 3 hours. When I eat, I can only eat about 4 bites. Is this normal? I'm trying not to eat when I am hungry. I'm just uncomfortable.

I would like to be added to your calendar. My banddate was 06/21/07. Thank you

According to my personal doctor I have lost 19 lbs. But I know I had lost a little pre op. So since the surgery I feel like it's closer to 14lbs. 14 lbs since 6/21 is a happy thing. I've not weighed myself yet this week, so it may be more. I only allow myself to step on the scale once a week. Otherwise I get all anxious. Silly, I know. -

Look at Orbitz.com. They've got a good selection of times and flights. Yes I paid/financed the surgery for the $6800 and then I decided to pay for the flight and hotel nights out of my pocket. Or you can go the easy route and pay the $7600 and they take care of everything: flight, hotels, surgery. -
Try Hummus. It comes in different flavors and is very thin so you don't have to worry about chewing as you would with chicken. Another good thing is Lox or smoked Salmon. I put a LITTLE scallion cream cheese with the Lox on a cracker. It's good for protein. I can eat 2 maybe 3 crackers total and I feel full.

No passport needed. I brought mine just in case, but had no need for it. I'm in Southeast Florida. The patient coordinator will pick you up from the airport and take you back to the airport. So you don't need to worry about that. -
I did have to pay a service charge, but I'm sure the interest rate is dependant on your credit history.

I was banded 6/21/07 and I would have to say that you should be aware that what they call a hospital in Mexico will look more like a clinic to you. But, it is clean and they are very nice. Most all the staff is fluent in English. Also, it should be noted that when you go south of the border you will not get the long term after care that you would from an American facility. You will need to educate yourself and find your own fill Doctor back in the US. But, you are saving thousands of $. So it's a catch 22. -

Well, you can get the $7500 package which will include your airfare and hotel stay for the night before and the night after you're released from the hospital. I chose the $6800 package and got my hotels on Orbitz.com and my flight was around $300. Since I was financing half this worked best for me because I did not end up financing the hotels and flight. -
I don't think they charge the Docs. They deposit the $ or make the payment direct to the Doc the day of or the day before surgery. Then when you're released they call you and make sure the surgery took place.
