Laying Down Position
mbowlin replied to Stardusted's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have a question. Does anyone else suffer from terrible breath? My husband asked me to talk to my doctor about it but I figured I'd ask here first. -

I just went through my closet tonight for the first time. I am 3 months out and down 65 pounds. I have no clothes!!! I am shopping at the local thrift shop this week. Can't imagine spending a lot of money on clothes I will be getting rid of in another month or two. Pants are now an 18 from 24. Shirt is size XL from 3x.

Nervous about what?

My surgeon said no alcohol for a year. I am fine with that. The way I see it, we put our body through so much to get healthy. Why would we add a toxin in that will tax it even more? Especially our livers. It's just not worth it to me.

@Moofish. Yes I had Dr. Streeter. Great experience so far.

New Physical Activities!
mbowlin replied to kloveburd's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
One of my goals was to go on a hike with my boys. I did it this past weekend! We did a 3 mile hike through a hilly conservation area on Cape Cod. My 17 yr old son said he was proud of me. He was surprised I took them because last year I wouldn't have even thought of doing something like that! Next goal: running in a 5k! -
You could come to my house. I have some painting and dry walling to do!!!

How Many People Have You Told?
mbowlin replied to MrsCaluza's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I tell people who ask or comment on my weight loss. I am very proud of myself. It took a lot of courage to take this step. I am healthier now than I ever was before surgery. And sometimes letting people know about my surgery makes it easier to get what I need for myself. -
After a while it's easier to drink. I can drink regularly and not just sip. So getting in my water is no problem anymore. I use Unjury protein powder. Love it. The vanilla mixed into lite V8 fusion is awesome!

I had my surgery on 6/6/12. I feel pretty normal. Actually I feel better than normal. I have energy. I like the new normal I am feeling. Tomorrow will be 3 months and I am down 58 pounds. The only time I feel bad is when I eat too fast or eat something that doesn't agree with my pouch. Then I throw up! But it gets better quickly.

Veggies And Fruit Puree
mbowlin replied to jadeharper's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I didn't use any fruits that have seeds. Also can't eat oranges because of the fiberous insides. But canned pears, peaches etc in water were yummy and no problem. -
I would contact your credit cards directly. Explain that your income is being cut due to divorce and you need a payment plan. Most will work with you, stop or cut interest rates and give you a payment you can handle. Even if they don't, at least they would know you are strapped. Then forget about it and take care of yourself and your kids. I have 2 sons with autism and one with anxiety issues. I always put them before anyone or anything else.
