Emergency Room :(
punk.rock.mama replied to punk.rock.mama's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am finally home and feeling a bit better, after every imaginable test it was concluded that I had simply pulled a muscle/upset an incision site!! NO INFECTION! NO FURTHER INJURY!! The doctor said it wouldn't have seemed so bad if I had continued to take my dilaudid (morphine) but due to some personal issues I stopped taking that stuff days ago. All in all, I am JUST fine!! <3 -

Rushed into observation, Awaiting blood and urine analysis. Next step is imaging and then a possible surgery consult...no real news yet but enough concern that I didn't wait at all to be seen...will keep y'all updated <3 Sent from my iPod touch using RNYTalk -
Diet Before Surgery?
punk.rock.mama replied to seiko's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was covered by provincial health care (Canada) but I was required to to do a 21day liquid diet to shrink my liver (optifast900-4shakes a day plus water.) -
Momentary Lapse Of Reason (Paying For My Sins)
punk.rock.mama replied to punk.rock.mama's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I ate one piece of the chicken with tomato and pita, pretty much a normal pre-op bite but now what imagine the full size of my pouch post-op. I chewed it to high heaven but then I absent mindedly took a big sip of Water...and that us what did me in. I only threw up the water, but have fairly bad pain on my left side now (technically I am still supposed to be on purée until thurs-another 3days till soft can start) -

I did it. I ate 1) Solid food too soon and 2) Too much of said solid food now I feel like my pouch is going to explode while I dump from both ends. For all my education, for all my knowledge, for ALL my common sense I did the ONE damn thing I wasn't supposed to and now I am paying dearly. -1000 points for Sheer Stupidity!! (what, might you ask, could be SO tempting as to risk my physical health?? Chicken souvlaki on pita with titziki and tomatoes.) -

I actually feel fine, I think it was the drink of Water that did it although I do feel more pain in my major left incision... -

It's all about the endorphins baby! An I think a) not being able to do it makes you want it more and personally, having my man cater to me night and day made me crazy about him and re-awakened a deep love and appreciation for him...and what better way to show him lol -

Yeah but you're a guy, guys would be willing to canoodle lying in a ditch after having their legs blown off by a landline ( not to generalize, just in my experience lol) -
Hardest Thing About This ?

Slowing down. Everything is slower! eating, walking even falling asleep! It seems to take forever to things and I am NOT a patient person!! -
Can't Tell If I Am Hungry.....
punk.rock.mama replied to bekki03's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had some clam chowder today, I was SO hesitant, but it was all hand made using fresh ingredients, my stomach seems to be a accepting of it (chewed it to high heaven before swallowing) so hard to become a mindful eater after all these years of just scarfing down whatever was put in front of me! -
Can't Tell If I Am Hungry.....

I hear ya! I am STILL struggling with fluids (9days post op) and for the FIRST time today finally felt like I have actually gotten enough fluids, but I have had a little bottle of water with me at. ALL times today. I have also started the purée diet but have been SO scared of dumping that I still stick to soups and a little baby food...every time I eat I can't tell if I am full gassy or just feeling surgery pain!? -

Bawhahaha we went for some good old slow sweet vanilla, which with the pain was actually quite spicy I have no problem sharing my experiences, you never know who has been through what until you ask, and you never know what you can relate to until you hear someone else say it -

Morning After Pill

thanks, i have always taken solace in the fact that it happened on canada day, the day we lost the baby we came home and my partner put our recliners on the balcony (15th floor) and we sat holding hands and watched the fireworks, it made me feel like we were able to Celebrate the possibility of life and this year we did the same thing, sat on the balcony and watched the fireworks for him and it made it feel less lonely and more significant. I am also able to rejoice in the fact that the next time we try for a child i will be in much better health and will be in a much better capacity to parent two children. it is all about self-care, which in turn helps promote a better family life <3 -
Morning After Pill

obviously call your doctor/surgeon/nurse ect first before deciding anything, but from what i gathered it is a small enough pill and should work just fine, take with food and lots of (sips) of water, also you may want to consider an iud, i have the copper iud (hormone free) and we use rubbers and even spermicidal foam when i am VERY paranoid, we have only *ahem* been intimate twice since surgery but are taking NO chances, of course as soon as I hit that 18-24 month mark all bets are off! I can't wait to start TRYING to get pregnant! we lost a baby a year ago (canada day) and it was a huge hit to both of us emotionally, but when we found out my surgery was coming up it helped ease that feeling of desperation and helped us look forward to the possibility of another child soon and far enough away from the miscarriage that we have both moved on with great success -
is it too soon for "buyer's remorse"? I would give anything to just straight up drink a nice big tall cold glass of WATER!!

August 9th! Isn't she just a peach! -
I knew what to expect when I signed up for this, but I am still floored by the results I am seeing. My pharmacist commented on being able to see my neck for the first time, and my partner saw me in a dress I have had for awhile but commented on how good it looked on me today It is just crazy that this is actually happening! I still lie in bed some nights wondering of it will ever happen for me and all of a sudden it hits me...I AM doing it already!!
