This is a real hard thing for me. I have been banded for 10 weeks and think maybe it is time for a fill. But I can not tell for sure because with some meals I have immense restriction and with others not very much. Last night I ate 3 oz of roast and a couple of carrots and felt like I ate a ton. But today I can eat a cup and a half of salad. I feel of the wagon for a week so I am trying to get back on and I have a heck of a time exercising. So I feel like maybe my weight loss has slowed down because of me more than the band. But aren't you suppose to get a fill about now. I do not know, my frustration level is high. Should I go in and start trying for that "sweet spot" or am I just not doing my part? ANy help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Jody

Hello, I have been banded for 8 weeks and I was just wondering what is the normal amount of food I should be able to eat at one setting. I need to know if I need a fill. I can eat a whole peanut butter sandwich or I can eat 2 chicken thighs(baked) and 1/2 cup of green beans, or I can eat 1 1/2 cups of salad as long as it is lite on veggies and mostly lettuce. It seems like so much compared to at 4 and 5 weeks that it makes me think it is time for a fill. Any advise? Thanks Jody 8 weeks banded 34 pds gone 132 to go

Hello, I was wondering how long you all had discomfort in the area of the large incision where the port went in. It is not pain on the outside but way inside and it comes with physical activity. I can push on the area and it does not hurt. It is not warm to the touch or red. It feels like muscle pain inside, deep. I can not bend down all the way to the floor without holding on to something because the left side doesn't have the strength that the right has. It has been 8 weeks since surgery. Did this happen to anyone else? If so how long until I am back to normal? Thanks, Jody Banded 2/17/05

Hi, I was wondering if anyone had used Dr. Fox, in Tacoma Washington, for fills and how it had gone. Also, if anyone knows what he charges for fills if you had your band placed in another state? Thanks , Jody

Hi, I am Jody, banded 2/17 in Mexico with Dr. Rodriguez. I was wondering, when I did my research the lap band sites said that Pop was a no no. Did that mean forever, will I get to have a Diet Coca again, some day or is that a thing of the past. I have been 6 weeks without one and I when I see people with a can of Diet Coca I seriously consiter accosting them. LOL... Thanks for the Advise, Jody Banded 2/17/05 Down 27 pds.

Thanks everyone, you are right, Pop really has no value nutritionally and it makes no sense to drink it. And Jenna, knowing you clean your toilet with it has some how made the craving subside. I will continue with the Water and decaff. coffee. Thanks again, Jody

Ready for the "thin" time (KS Newbie)
LadyJoe replied to rsduhe's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hi, I am an RN also and had my band done 2/17/05 with this Dr. and had a great experience. THe clinic is great. The are maticulus about sanitation, and aseptic tech. The equipment is older but beautifully maintained. I bet you will leave very impressed with the whole place. The gas for me lasted about 3 weeks. Then the farting stopped but I still have stomach gas with certain foods. When they give you your rules, take them seriously. Make sure you use the wheelchair escort at the airports, they are a lifesaver and they take you right to the front of the line at customs. If you walk as much as possible the gas is much easier to handle. I have never PB, or slimed so do not think it happens to everyone. Drink your water, it will save you from some not so nice side-effects. Let me know how your experience goes? -
Hi I'm Jody, and he is my Dr. I was banded 2/17/05 at the clinic and had a wonderful experience. The Dr. will make you feel so comfortable when you get there. He is kind and genuine. The anesthesiolgist was amazing, he made me feel as if I was family. The nurses are amazingly competent, but do not speak english. I had a really fun gal as my translator. The hotel you stay in has the best showers in the world, and if you go with someone the Dr. will make sure that person has all their meals at the Dr's expense. Make sure on your way home you get a wheel chair escort, it will be a life saver when you get to customs and security. Let me know what you think when you get back. Good luck, Jody

just one week has passed and i am ready to give up!
LadyJoe replied to a_bit_pink's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Dear Bit Pink, I went through absolute mourning for food for the first 2 and 1/2 weeks. I was mourning the loss of a friend and comforter. I would glare at my husband everytime he ate, even if it wasn't a food I liked. I missed filling my plate up, I missed planning a big meal, I missed feeling overly stuffed and sitting in my recliner with the remote control for 3 hours while my food digested. I missed everything about eatting, to the point that I thought I was going crazy. Food has been that never ending supply of love and comfort for more years that I care to tell you. BUT---This too shall pass. Hang on. Take some time to cry for the loss of your old friend and then start making new ones. Such as the great feeling of putting on a shirt that before the arms were binding, and now there not. The great feeling of a little less pain in the knees when you climb stairs. The great feeling of being able to shop longer because your stamina is greater. And last but not least, the great feeling of looking in the mirror every week and seeing just a little bit more of the thin you coming home. Hang on. You can make it. Jody -
Hi, I was banded on Feb. 17 in Mexico and have been using this site to learn more. I read in one of the threads that people have gotten infections with their ports and had to have them removed and replaced. How will I know If the port becomes infected? thanks, Jody Banded Feb17 down 25 pds in 4 weeks

Rockbaby Be very careful about using any treatments on this area of your body. The discoloration is from friction and heat. If you mess with that area you could cause many issues such as yeast overgrowth, excessive dry skin, or uncontrollable itching. Once you lose the weight the area of contract will lessen simply due to the decreased size of your thighs. If you touch that area you will notice how soft it is. It is just like rocks that get worn by a river.

Thanks DeLarla, I will be very watchful of this. So much to worry about, gesh. Oh well, I know it will be worth it. Thanks

I was banded by Dr. Rodregus. I know I spelled that wrong. I have not found a follow up person yet. But I had been told Dr. Ross in Tacoma was good. What was it that you did not like about your appt. in Tacoma? Thanks, Jody Sorry this took so long, been having trouble with my computer and just fix it today.
