    Extreme thrist

    Actually I don't have a problem drinking fluids as soon as 10 minutes after I eat, well small swishes of Fluid anyways. Being over here I am in constant contact with my team back home so they know about my routine. Seems I'm the first one of their patients to return to an active combat zone, even if I'm not military I'm still an armed NATO civilian. My main concern is that I'll drink roughly 6 liters or a little less than 2 gallons a day and I'll still be thirsty... In the summer I've been know to drink as many as 8-10 liters here so it's not that uncommon as I'm very used to the harsh climate here... But in the winter as it is not its down right frigid so it's just odd that I'm this thirsty.

    That's the same way that I felt about the staff at Physcians East... I'm really glad I went with who I did. Granted I had very limited contact with Dr Bruce himself other than the surgery and pre/post op appts his staff is what pleased me the most. They took care of every concern I had and when I told them that I was headed back here they helped me out without question. I'm actually a contractor for NATO doing med evac flights for the civilians working here in Afghanistan... Been here a few months now but I've been working in the Middle East since 2006 primarily in Iraq as a paramedic for a security company. I took a year off so I could have my surgery and get healthy and now I feel better than I did in my 20's!

    Extreme thrist

    Has anyone else experienced this, I'm at the official 6 month mark and I'm down a whooping 108 pounds. I'm working out every day, eating my protein as adjusted per daily need and hydrating accordingly to the climate (I'm in Afghanistan, mild days frigid nights) however I have this extreme thirst... I'm always thirsty... More so now than before and I've been working in the Middle East for the past 6 years so I'm very accustomed to the temps. I didn't have diabetes beforehand however I do check my fsbs every day just to keep track and I do weekly urine dips just to make sure I'm nor throwing ketones out or anything too funky. My Dr is 12k miles away, though luckily I am a medical professional however this is not my field if expertise. Anyone else having the same issue?

    Hey!... I'm in New Bern!... Ok right at this moment I'm in Kandahar Afghanistan but still I live in New Bern. Who did your surgery?... I ended up going to see Dr Bruce with Cary surgical just cause the crowd there at Physicians East in Greenville didn't impress me at all
  7. I'm almost 6months post RnY and have gone from 150kg down to just over 102kg. I've returned to the Middle East as a contractor for a civilian firm working for NATO and as such have access to world class fitness facilities here at Kandahar Airfield in Afghanistan. I'm using a fitbit along with myfitnesspal to monitor my levels as well as my dietary intake which I'm doing great with. I'm keeping up with my Protein levels as recommended by MFP base on my activities levels but has anyone used anything for recovery after their workouts? Creatine? Some other post workout product? I'm doing about 3hr daily sessions with the majority of the time being cardio such as running a 5km on the treadmill, 3km rowing, doing 2km on the elliptical and 50 floors on a stair climber not to mention doing Ab busters. As far as weight training is concerned, circuits mostly...

    Ugh, Not Again

    Dumped yet again... That's everyday now for the past five days... I'm eating slow, following all the rules about avoiding certain foods, spacing out my fluid intake properly... This just sucks!... What makes it worse yet is having my friends and family seeing/hearing me go through the process and the expressions of angst and sorrow on their faces breaks my heart.

    Life Is A Little Depressing

    Today sucks!!!!... I've been doing so good and then for the past few days I've been feeling as if this was the biggest mistake I could have done. I don't see a change even though I've lost 60+ in 45 days. food used to be something I enjoyed, I loved to cook, be creative in the kitchen and now I could care less. Food now is just something I dread, I'm just so tired of all of this
  12. So I'm about a little over a month post and I'm feeling and doing great with about 52lb drop so far. I'm getting my protien and my Water in everyday but I find that my urine is DAAAAARK, I'm wondering if anyone else has had this happen or if I'm living in a constant state of severe dehydration. I'm getting about 70-90g of protien as per my Dr and 64-96oz of water... So what gives?

    Dumb Dumb Move

    I had a half cup of spinach souffle and 3 organic chicken pot stickers... It wasn't the food that cause me to dump but rather the speed that I eat my first few bites that did it. I was able to recover quickly and finish my meal off without any problems
  14. Suuuuuuuuper!... So this evening in a rush to eat I ate my food faster,... Much faster then I should have and you guessed it... Dumping occurred. Silly silly move Mr. Potato Head!... My poor wife who had never seen me dump before was concerned so I took this as an opportunity to teach her as to the finer points of dumping. The good thing is that it wasn't the food as te moment I felt better(which was about 5 minutes later, the benefits of being a fast dumper) I was able to return to my meal and finish it off without any problems once I slowed down. Oh well, live and learn ... And learn some more, or again
