They may have been a little skinnyer, alittle better dressed but who care's deep down your a good person and your dealing with your weight problem? You will get there at some point.maybe you can use this to give you a little push to help you do a little walking or some exercise,or thinking about what your eating. I was at walmart and found a video JUST MY SIZE for under $10.00 first one I ever saw that did not have a super model on it.Actual real sized person. The most important aspect in any weight loss exercise program is calorie consumption.Burning calories and increasing your metabolic rate to burn more fat can be achieved with either short sessions of high intensity or with longer sessions of low intensity. low-intensity "fat burning' work outs are usually recommended for people in poorer condition whose fitness level can't support high-intensity work outs. as fitness levels improve, the intensity of the work outs can be increased. this came from a fitness book fitness. I hope this help's any one just starting out on there weight loss journey. ARE you getting any Exercise in? And you can help your band out with a little exercise.

I went through five scale's before I found one that was accurate! many of time's "I" picked that rotten scale up and was ready to throw it through the window many many day's. but it is a very good tool for weight loss! I have been up 7 to 9 pounds in one day mostly Water weight because I drink a lot of water plus eating super....you will always be heavyer at night/ jump on that scale first thing in the morning true weight. If you up a pound then you no that you have to do a little exercising? watch your food intake for aday or too. could just be water weight? "I" now love my scale it tell's me what I have to do that day to maintain my weight loss. If im up a pound or... two Im not going to get worked up as stress, is not good eather, so don't beat your self up! maybe more liquid's some walking. Good luck God bless.JOHNQ

Becoming afraid of reading this site!!
jqpublic replied to pati-o's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Pati-o Hello there is no perfect answer! out there for any one of Us Banded or not banded. Im not banded and have lost 114 pound's in now twevle month's I don't fight with my weight loss every day,However ,I think about if I go back to my old way's of eatting multiple plate's not caring about my health I'd blow up like a ballon again . "but I, made a life style change of eatting right and wanting to be fit and healthy so "I" can live longer and play with my kidd's. The band is only a tool to help you with weight loss! sure you can "EAT" around it by eatting to much not fallowing direction's but it is still the safest way to go by far! "I' think if you let it work it is a powerful tool in weight loss and no major surgery! weight loss to me is just a mind game, and you have to want to lose the weight. what ever you do I wish you luck and much sucsess and hope thing work out for you. this site is great, there are a bunch of caring people who help out people like me that are not banded! when it come's to being banded or any thing about the band you will only find the truth here! JOHNQ. -

After doing that artticle on "Starvation" I' found my self running scared! "It was the first time in almost a year that I' Gained weight three pound's it don't seem like a lot but to me it has been great deal. Like ("Im losing ground.) So "I am back to 1000/1200 calorie's aday I have been doing 1500/2000 with out not much exercise Due to back, knee problem's. I found the Quest to lose the last ten pound's " now thirteen" has been the most Difficult! After losing all this weight... .... ... ....115 pound's ...................... "I almost Gave up! Because of this mental block I REALLY HIT THE WALL..........Hard. Can't go forward only backward. all do to some thing stupid like thinking I was staving my self at 1000/1200 calorie intake.. Well here "I" go climbing back up the weight loss ladder! not a roller coaster "I am going to lose this last thirteen pound's even if it kill's me. I' can not let my self go out as a loser, however,if it take's me two more month's or so to lose the weight that's fine. I wanted to say I did it all in a year but that won't happen now Dec 20th is to close. well take care any Idea's will help! JOHNQ

Starvation I have been looking this up. It's hard to find information on starvation that isn't given relating to eating disorders, and I want more than just that one branch of opinion. http://jaoii.lunarpages.com/bar.gif One article on POWs in Japan said they were on a "near-starvation diet of 700 calories per day". Most sources will agree that this is most definitely within actual starvation range. A diet article said that "to avoid triggering the starvation-adaptation response, you should consume at least 1,200 Calories per day if you’re a woman and 1,600 Calories if you’re a man." I think, though, that they were more concerned with the metabolism's slowing-down response than actual starvation. And I found a technical, encyclopaedic definition that seems pretty thorough: Starvation is classified into three categories based on caloric intake over time (Frisancho, 1981): 1. Acute - less than 600 calories/day for less than two weeks. 2. Semiacute starvation - less than 1100 calories/day for less than 30 days. 3. Moderate semistarvation - less than 1600 calories/day for as long as 24 weeks. Initial consequences of starvation are apathy, muscle weakness, and reduction of activity. Body weight loss is progressive. The body first extracts energy from carbohydrate stored in the liver and glycogen in muscles. Then the body burns fat to get needed energy for about two weeks. After that point both fat and Protein are used. After 24 weeks there is a loss of physical work performance. Individuals with a daily diet intake of less than 2,000 calories per day have impaired physical work capacity. Many sources agree that starvation causes some pretty typical behavior changes. Interestingly enough these new behaviors are the same as those usually found in eating-disordered people... a fixation on the body, an obsession with meal-planning and cooking, the tendency to hoard food or pictures of food, other compulsive-type ritualized patterns. I'm curious. How many of those traits do eating-disordered people start with, and how many show up on their own as a result of our food habits? A lot of doctors attribute our disorders to those traits, not the traits to the disorder, and therefore tend not to consider the possibility. And the article about the Minnesota starvation study has finally reared its pretty head. I'm so frickin' happy! I love this baby. It explains so many of those odd little quirks that plague me from time to time, and I think it's fascinating to see how starvation can turn almost anyone into an ED, at least for a while. I wonder if that's really how a lot of EDs begin. People with the tendencies start to diet, then their bodies kick into gear and yank them down. So it's not just a matter of willpower or self-control or "not letting a diet get out of hand" if some of us really can't mess with that without going nuts, is it? Go here to read the parts pertaining to the study, and here to find the whole thing (load the page, then click "psychoeducational"). http://jaoii.lunarpages.com/bar.gif untitled2.html An Endocrinologist Talks About Consequences of Starvation Problems Caused By Being Underweight IB Holocaust Project: Starvation, Cold, and Disease Levi - food, calories Primo Levi.
