    Any Long Islanders?

No, I haven't found the recipe yet. I guess I haven't looked because I'm still on liquids, I see Dr. Geiss on Wednesday, then on to mushy's! I threw away the scale, very odd, I keep looking for it, like I lost a loved one! But, I'm happy I did it. Take care, maybe we'll catch up on the 1st at Applebee's or here.

    Any Long Islanders?

Hey, 503-250 it's Jo-Ann from Tuesday nights meeting. When I first saw the meeting at Panera's I thought the same thing. Much better idea to meet outside some place, folks could bring their own food, or no food! I'd be into meeting with a group as well.

Lucky # Sevens- July 07 Bandsters

I'm so happy to hear that other's had bruisin, not you bruised but that it seems normal :nervous. I'm almost one week into this and I feel really good. I'd love some insight on the eating thing... 1. Since I'm only having liquids, I can take in at least 12 oz within a few minutes. Of course I feel full but is that wrong or dangerous? 2. Did anyone try eating food other than liquids in the first week or two? I had a few crackers and seemed okay. I won't continue that because it there's any time to follow orders it's now. 3. Weightloss... I lost 10 lbs the week I was on medi-fast, etc. but post-op I haven't lost any weight. This is what frustrated me in the past and I don't want that to "rule" my head now. thanks so much in advance for any input you'd like to share.

    July 2007 Bandsters

I was just banded on Wednesday, 7-11. It's really fast and the anesthesiologist should come and talk to you about it before surgery. Since it's only about 45 minutes, it's not too bad. My suggestion is that if you don't need pain meds after, (demerol is what they gave me), don't take it. It just takes you longer to feel normal, besides, they give it to you in a shot form and IT HURTS!! My arm is still numb in that area. I slept on and off for two days before I felt like myself again. So, allow yourself to rest. Best of luck. I'm feeling really good and this is my third day. I went food shopping, rested and then took my daughter to the park. I just take it easy because you're not eating much of anything and you can get weak pretty easily. Get the help where you can!!

I'm feeling really well. A little sore and weak from, well... not eating. I've found that I can't really stomach "fake" food and started making my own chicken soup broth, protein shakes, etc. I even had a few crackers and also chewed on some grapes but didn't swallow anything but the juice. What a difference all that made, I felt satisfied. Before I felt full (like I swallowed a whole turkey) but not satisfied. Adding some real food made all the difference. The other interesting thing I noticed is that feeling this full always made be feel bad and mad at myself, not I have to remember, I only had about 600 calories and still felt that way. There's definitely and mind and emotional shift that goes along with this. But I am Psyched.

My surgery's at 3:30 today. I feel fine, confident and at ease. I can't eat or drink anything all day, so I'll just keep myself busy!! I really feel ready:clap2:
  10. My surgery is today too. Unfortunately, I have to wait until 3:30!! No food or drink all day either. but I feel fine. I'm not even looking for food. By the way, amazing weightloss and you haven't even had the surgery yet!!!! You'll undoubtedly make your goal weight. Best of luck today!! To both of us.

CLO -- Clear liquids only!! I am excited, but I've definitely had a hard time staying on the liquid meals for the past few days. I didn't do horribly, but I may a slipped with a bite here or there, only steamed veggies and fruit, though. The liquid diet was for 7 days and they said the first three would be hard, but I found the last three even harder. It's all in my head!! I may just take a valium and sleep tomorrow away :notagree It will be good. I'll let you all know when I come out the other side!!

    Any Long Islanders?

Good luck to you too and thanks I'll let you know how it goes with the surgery. Were you at the meeting with June Warman on July 3rd, that was a huge group. I was sitting on the back corner near the door, next to the really tall guy. I'll e-mail again after Wednesday! I just hope I get thru this liquid meal phase, but only thre more days -- no pain no gain or loss as it was!! Jo-Ann

    Just beginning....

thanks. It's probably a good thing he's a bit apprehensive, he'll keep the level headed approach and you can have the excited approach. Definitely, exercise and chewing A LOT will be essential :-0

    Band Or Bypass

I know someone who had g-bypass. She said this to me. In her opinion, she had terrrible eating habits and so lapband would be too difficult for her, that's why she chose the bypass. But, she also said that if she and I had our respective surgeries on the same day and had the same amount of weight to lose, in a year we would have lost the same amount of weight but she would have lost hers in the first 6 months. Just remember, there may not be more complications with bypass than with lapband, but with bypass the complications can definitely be more serious.
