I have heard that most of those protein shots dont have the correct protein we should be having. I believe whey protein isolate is what to look for. Other forms of the protein that are found in some of those shots aren't digested properly and you end up taking the shots for nothing.

Last night my husband and I were in a sporting goods store and walked by the weights. I have lost 60 pounds since surgery and asked him to pick up the 60 pound weight and put it in my arms (there was no way I could lift it myself lol). Anyway, when he gave it to me I almost fell on the ground cause it was so heavy. It's hard to really see how much weight you have lost until you do something like that. I can't believe that my body had to carry around all that weight just a few months ago! I encourage everyone to do that at some point to really put into perspective how much we have lost even if you can't see it so much! It put a smile on my face and I'm sure it will for everyone else too!

I had surgery 4 months ago and have never had a dumping experience. I have had occasional diarrhea but no dumping which I'm OK with. I know my limits and stay away from foods high in sugars or carbs.

I love muscle milk! I use the chocolate powder and mix one every morning with skim milk and a scoop of peanut putter. I've had the cookies and cream too which was good. They also have a mocha latte that I wanted to try but found out it has caffeine in it so I passed.

How Long Was Your Stay In The Hospital?
itzme752 replied to worm2872's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Had surgery on a Tuesday and was supposed to go home Thursday but had to stay until Friday cause my white blood cells were up and they wanted to be safe. My insurance only approved the first day too but they ended up approving the entire stay. The lady I talked to said they always approve the first day and then approve more based on medical need so I wouldn't worry about it too much. Your doc wouldn't keep u there if he didn't feel like you needed to be there. Sent from my iPhone using RNYTalk -

Supplements Post Op
itzme752 replied to FinerWoman's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My surgeon had me wait until two weeks after surgery but every surgeon is a little different so it might be best just to call your surgeons office and ask. Sent from my iPhone using RNYTalk -
Seminar Before Surgery?
itzme752 replied to wonderwoman75's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yeah it depends on what your insurance requires. Mine was 3 months also. I ran into some issues with my heart and had to see a cardiologist for clearance so that pushed me back a little. I went to my seminar in December, met with surgeon in February and had surgery in August. Sent from my iPhone using RNYTalk -
Seminar Before Surgery?
itzme752 replied to wonderwoman75's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had to go to a seminar before I got my surgeon appointment. I think it's fairly common from what I've heard. Sent from my iPhone using RNYTalk -
My nutritionist said calories aren't really the main thing to focus on. She said tracking Protein and fluids are most important. I'm about 3 months out and average about 800 calories a day and that's what I've been averaging since I went to normal foods so I wouldn't freak out too much. Sent from my iPhone using RNYTalk
