Hello! From Pittsburgh too. MaGee and Dr. McCloskey. Meeting with her tomorrow. :-). Good luck to you!
-
I'm glad to hear all is going well. I hope it all goes smoothly. Congrats!!!
-
I love the Dannon Light and Fit. I am addicted to the vanilla. For the most part Greek yogurt makes me gag (to thick and sour) but I LOVE this stuff.
-
You have to feel amazing! Congrats!!
-
Yes they are. The Lifestyle classes (weigh in) are till 7 PM and you just have to be there before 6:30 PM for the Thursday session (only once per month). They give you the schedule at your first meeting for the whole time. It is a blessing since I travel for work. He will have to take off to meet with the surgeon but they may have options. Good Luck!!

20 bucks per nutritionist visit.

I know a lot depends on the surgeon and pre-existing conditions but I am curious to hear what medical tests you have been required to take to get cleared for surgery? Thanks!!
-
Yes... Good luck to you. My dad passed last Jan. at 61. I know his weight had a strain on his heart. I know I will have to have counseling to get through this but, like you, I have put my foot down.

Started My Pre-Op Weight Loss
worm2872 replied to rev.meckenzie's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Good luck to you!!! You both have each other and the boards here for support. Carbs are a killer. I started my diet on the 17th. Not too good so far but I traveled last week and did much better than I usually do. -
Paula, Welcome!! This is a great place for tips and support! Everyone here is very nice and they share the REAL details with you which is so great. I hear you on the carb deal. I need to cut them out too but this time I am struggling. I have my first Dr. on Tuesday. Good luck to you!!!

I started my diet on 8-17. I did well the first few days then I was traveling for a week. It was a slow downward spiral. I had lost three pounds and gained them back. But... I can say the cookie eating in the hotel was not there. Which I was proud of myself for. I ate very healthy but I was still over the 1400 calories per day. I kind of took this weekend off and I am back on track today. It is such a hard process. I need to get my head in the game. I have to meet with my surgoen next Tuesday and I want SOME weight off even if it is just 2 pounds. I will say I am really scared about my weight going up. I am really trying to drink water and plan meals. I travel almost all of Sept. It is going to be brutal. Maybe I should limit myself to protein bars and then a regular dinner?? It would at least track the calories. One thing I can say that has been positive is I have been taking vitimins with iron. They are Flintstones but this is a major milestone for me. Iron has always made me really sick. So that is one worry off of my mind.

I hear you! Hang in there!!!!

OK.. It was interesting. It was a little odd. It was an open forum where you could come and go between a three hour window. I was told to be there at 4 PM and not sure really why. Anyway, they gave me a 1400 calorie diet and told me to exercise more. I briefly met with a nutritionist and he was very nice! Had my first weigh in. UGH 275! My highest was 298 last year when my dad passed. I got down to 231 around August and now back up to 275. Sigh... Well, this is why I am here. I am still a bit confused. When I spoke with my insurance (Aetna), they told me a three month monitoring period instead of the six. The information the hospital (UPMC PGH) provided me was only for a 6 month program. I will find out more when I have my appointment on Sept. 4 with the Dr. **fingers crossed for 3 month program** There were so many new people. There had to be 20+ attending their first meeting. However, I can say I didn't know if I should be happy so many people were there to get healthy and have a better life or sad that there were so many of us at this point in our lives. We all know how hard the struggles are and the agony we go through, especially in private. I hope those people there know where to get support. This board is a great place and I am so far ahead of some of the folks there as far as knowledge. So keep sharing. Even if there are not a lot of responses, people are READING what you say. THANK YOU!! I plan on sharing this site to my new 'friends'. :-)

Going Back To Work?
worm2872 replied to pebbles7673's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
What do you mean they are making you? Are they forcing you back even if you are not medically released? I'm in HR and you may have some recourse. Have you been there more than a year? -
How Many People Have You Told?
worm2872 replied to MrsCaluza's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I hear you. I'm mortified I look like this. My husband and BF know. That's it. Not even telling my mom. Maybe after but other than that no one. Work will be hard but I'm new there so I'll explain it as watching what I eat and d exercising. It's the truth. Welcome aboard. This is a great place. We are all in this together. :-). -

Awesome for you!! On a side note did you ever think they don't want you to lose weight because you'd be thinner and other men may want you?? I lost 80 pounds once and my hubby decided I was doing it to get another man. WTH.

Prayers. Hang in there and let us know!! -
Well I am on 1400 calorie per day balanced diet for 3-6 months ( not sure till I meet with the surgeon). Also I have to write everything down and I can not gain one pound. Is so hard right now I'm traveling a lot for work. But I'm doing better then what I was so its a start. I'm trying to keep high protein. Then I will have the liquid diet before surgery. Welcome and good luck to you.
