Ooh ladies! Work on the confidence!! See someone if you have too. About 7 years ago I got down to 175 and went to Mexico as a celebration. I couldn't see the new me. I was very depressed and the downward spiral started. One persons crack that I was still fat and I gave up. I can admit this now but not proud of it. I know this time ill need more emotional support. Good luck to all of you. You really look good.

Snow... I know how you feel. If I get a date I'm not sure what to tell my boss. She's awesome but the whole team are like sticks. I'm twice their size. I know I shouldn't be do vain but I'm embarrassed right now. I hope I get strong like the other folks here. Good luck

Hajones, yes it does seem that way. If I can't get approval soon ill be the end of December too. It's been over two weeks for me. I got a hold of someone in precert and they never even looked at it. Sigh! But maybe today will be the day for both of us!!! Good luck!!

HI Guys!! And Welcome all the new November folks! Yes, I am still waiting for my approval. It has been over two weeks. I completely fell off the wagon this weekend. Stress eating and PMS are not a good combination. Plus, I feel defeated about all of this. What is taking so long?? All Aetna will tell me or my Dr. is pending. Sigh.... Anyway, tbooks, I am thinking the same way you have been. I have been trying to cut out sugar and white carbs. I have been heavy on the protein and that has become second nature at this point. I am thinking of doing mainly liquid and protein/veggies one week out from surgery. I am hoping that will start the weight loss. Right now I have only lost about 6-7 pounds in over three months. Well, I guess that is why I am here.

I just need to vent.. I was so happy when I found out that I only needed to do the pre-op diet for 3 months. The surgeon told me to start scheduling all of my pre-op testing. So I have been trying to. I was able to schedule the upper GI, chest x-ray and EKG on 10-1. Quick and simple. Then I called about the psyche and nutrition. The woman said they are backed up until Nov. She said since I was completing my requirements for diet on 10/9 she did not know what to do with me. HUH??? She said she would have to call the Dr. to see what she could do? Then never called me back. So I called and asked to get an appointment on the books for Nov. incase nothing could be done. Then I got a call saying they needed to speak with me about my insurance but won't call me back. This is nuts. I am traveling for work and this is so frustrating. I understand they are busy but this is a HUGE practice in Pittsburgh that is a Center of Excellence. They have TONS of people getting surgery. Oh and they are saying I must do the nutrition counseling there. So they can't get another nutritionist? They are really booked up for two months??? I was really hoping for a Nov. date but it looks like Jan. now since it takes about 6 weeks to get a surgery date after all of your testing. I have not even started with the insurance yet. sigh... I swear this is some horrible test of my endurance.

Oh I hear you!! I'm surprised they don't have a fill in for her. Hang in there!! Can you do it before. They took me a week early because it was the only appointment for a month.

Ladyspl, I'm a red head as well and had to wear a hot pink suit in a wedding. I did look like a big pimple lol!!! I know what my style will be. I love the Ralph Lauren/ Michael Kors look. I can't afford them but I wan to emulate them. However, I have told my self for 20 years that's if I get and stay in at least a size ten I want a Ralph Lauren blazer with a crest on it. I'll have to float a loan lol. :-)

I just told my hubby and BF since she had GBP last year and one other friend. Not telling anyone else for now. Probably my mom afterwards. Don't want her to worry until its over.

No still pending approval. It's driving me crazy!!

No they just have not processed it yet. They said at least two weeks. It will be two weeks on Monday. :-(

Ok this just sucks! I'm in a training class and I see the hospital calling. I can't answer so I am so anxious. Well they just called to tell me my approval is still pending with Aetna. Yes it was nice of them to check but ugh!

Oh I did. I'm still terrified. I'm like you I have wanted this for years. I almost puked going to the seminar. I think it's the realness of it and the fact you are admitting you have a real weight problem. That is a bit step. I can say I'm still nervous and a little scared but with all the testing and guidance you start to relax. It's a life changing event. What has helped me was my little support group: hubby and BF. This board has been a GREAT help. Very supportive and wonderful information that helps ease the anxiety. Good luck!

Even though us preop folks are all jealous, I can see how that would be really freaky. You lose weight so fast. I can't imagine being at my goal weight. When I got to 175 once I felt tiny. I really wasn't but it was such a drastic chance from 260. Hang in there!!

Weight loss surgery for Dummies and the cook book for after. I also read a book called "skinny jeans". It was a look at the mental state needed for surgery. Short quick read. I got them all used on amazon pretty cheap. They have tons of WLS books. Good luck!
