Lisa: focus on water, in some form, for hydration. It's the most important right now. I really didn't start protein until over a week out. I had complications also and a second surgery. So far so good. Hang in there. It does get better. :-).

Shannalee: I'm so sorry to hear this. My knees were one reason I started this journey. The one thing I can say is that you can lose weight without exercise. However, I would look into water classes or chair exercises to help with the process. There are DVDs for folks who really can't stand to work out. Anything helps. :-). I wish you the best of luck.

Eli: hi and welcome. I'm less than two weeks out but I understand. The last few drinks of shakes gag me. Tried some soup now I'm a bit nauseated. I want crackers. Lol. I don't really have head hunger but I'm realizing I'm totally addicted to food. It's so sad. The hormones make me want to stress eat but I am not hungry. Nor do I really care to eat. Everyone says it gets better. We have to wait it out I guess. -
First week I wasn't really focused on protein mainly fluids. I'm almost two weeks out now and I'm up to about 60 grams a day but that's a struggle. The fluids have been ok since I am mainly on protein drinks. No other way to hit that number. Hang in there.

Don't think we can do fruit yet but I have used SF seedless strawberry jam in my yogurt and cream of wheat. I also added a little Splenda to the CoW. I just haven't been eating other stuff beside protein shakes because you can't get the protein in. Unflavored in stuff makes me gag. Torani SF syrups are awesome as well. They help mask some of the protein shake taste.

I guess my issue is I like my food hot and 140 degrees is not that hot and it gets cold fast. I guess I'm just complaining. I tried it in yogurt but I can taste it. Maybe it will work in something like Wendy's chili. -
Wow. Awesome!!

Rem all one bit of cake or bread is not the end of the world. That's being human. Part of this process is to learn to new habits. Our old habits were one or two pieces of cake and no exercise. If the bit help with a craving. It's ok as long as it is not a habit. Move on and don't beat yourself up. :-)

I had that it was air. I'm using syntax and matrix protein. So far so good. -
Spiking is an old diet trick. You add calories one day and go lighter the next. If you eat 600 calories a day, for example, your body gets used to it. Try 700 one day and 500 the next.

Surgery Without Telling Anyone?
worm2872 replied to mishab's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I told my BF hubby and only once the surgery was scheduled my mom. No one else in my family knows. I did not even tell my boss. It can be done. :-). -
Try spiking your calories one day. It sometimes helps reset the metabolism. Kicks it out of starvation mode.
