I met my first goal today. I lost the 40+ plus pounds I gained last year after losing 65. Feels good to be back in those clothes!

Skin after surgery
worm2872 replied to michelecaples's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It will snap back to a certain point. Last year I lost about 60 pounds and got the weight I am now. (I gained about 45 back which lead me to RNY). Last year my skin was getting pretty rough (wrinkly and saggy) but it is ok now. I am just starting to notice a bit of wrinkling. No sagging yet like before. It gives me hope that I still have some elasticity left in my skin. -

ginsyn, You and I had surgery the same date. I was at my Dr. last week and they said I should be between 700-900 calories and at least 70 grams of protein. I was at 60 grams and around 600 calories and was at a stall. I upped my intake as suggested and the weight started to come off again. It is common to stop losing while your body adjust to the 'trauma' of no food and the surgery. I am down 31 since surgery so you are doing just fine. Upping the water would help too. Good Luck and talk to your Dr next week. -
getting sick w/ Protein drinks
worm2872 replied to tink65's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I can do Syntrax but any premade make me sick. It was worse at 3-4 weeks. I'm about seven weeks out and it's getting better. -
I have an awful issue with this. My PA has me on milk of magnesia one dose at night until I go at least every other day on my own. Plus two stool softeners a day. It's working!! I was a mess. Also I was taking Fiber thinking that was the issue. She said no because my intestines were already dry and that was like adding sand to a desert.

I'm dying for a pickle. Maybe next week when veggies are ok'd.

Am I Able to Eat TOO Much?
worm2872 replied to Losing4Lundyn's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Oh and form what my NUT and PA say people find a way to eat even with a 1/2 cup. One guy was pureeing Big Macs, one was drinking flat MT Dew all day and another was eating Hershey kisses one by one all day. I'm also about two months out and can do 1/2 cup. I measure since I know I'm a "quantity" eater. I know I'll push the envelope if I don't. -

watching people eat
worm2872 replied to hajones5891's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I just can't believe how much I ate even when I was watching my intake. It stuns me to watch anyone eat now. I can't believe I was there too. -

Chug and Run tomorrow - how did you mix your Colyte?
worm2872 replied to ready2smile's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Good luck today! I agree. I had sweatpants that came up under my boobs. My incisions were mostly on my waist. Still fighting with one. The hospital had most of what I needed. I just packed clean undies, charger, Chapstick and slippers with a no slip sole. -
That is normal. Mine was for almost three weeks but I had a second surgery.
-
Mine started two days after surgery and was really heavy and long!!! Horrid. Second was better but still not normal for me.

Jodi, I'm so sorry!! I wish I could help you in some way. Have they checked you for a stricture? I'm not much farther out then you and I know everyone is different but I'd think you'd be farther along. Maybe the fluids would help but I want them to see if your stoma is too small. Hugs and prayers. :-).

Yes... I licked BBQ potato chips at three weeks. It was nasty!! lol

Has anyone tried the frozen Atkins meals?
worm2872 replied to swilkins's topic in Food and Nutrition
I saw these at Walmart the other day. They looked pretty good as far as what the meals consisted of. I just wish the salt was a bit lower. I agree though, good for work and a change of pace. -
Yes, we will lose some. Surgery is such a shock to the system plus just eating less. Our poor bodies. We just have to be deiligent and make sure we do all we can to minimize the loss AND take care of ourselves.

Every time I think oh screw the protein for today I want something else I think of my hair. Hell, I know that sounds vain but I refuse to go bald too. It reminds me of how important the nutritional aspect is of this journey. Also, I don't want to be that pasty gray color some people get when they don’t eat right. I think that is why I am so intreged with salads. Salads = healthy lol -
I have an embarrassing question
worm2872 replied to mary2008's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am cracking up. One week I was on overdrive too. But then it went away. Darn it -
I LOVE my Ninja. It works awesome and fast. I got the cheaper one on QVC for about 50 bucks and it works just fine.

5weeks out and discouraged.
worm2872 replied to Kris Cheek's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hang in there with the food issue. I noticed a hug difference at about six weeks. Things started to become much more tolerable to eat. Now if I can keep my blood sugar from dropping we'd be in business.
